I have a membership with Petco in order to get grooming discounts since i like to take my dog twice a month. I've had my appointments cancelled or rescheduled at least five times. VERY ANNOYING. this last time i took my pet to get groomed the groomer didn't show up and someone took my number to call and reschedule yet again. a week went by with no call so i had to call. finally got an appointment scheduled and guess what happened. they rescheduled it without calling or asking if that day and time would work. So i have to call again to see wtf is going on. No help whatsoever and they take my number again to call me back, but of course I haven't gotten a call. Getting really frustrated as I pay for a membership just to get groomed twice a month but now I'm basically paying for a membership for nothing. I know they're very short staffed but this happens pretty often that they lose their groomers so they must not be treating their employees very well either. Petco needs to get their shit together! read more

My girlfriend and I come in often to shop for our two dogs, as well as look at the animals. Today we were helped by Logan, who was so passionate about animals and extremely helpful. He helped show me reptiles, and which ones would fit my experience level. I've always admired reptiles but have never heard anyone talk about them the way Logan did. So we usually just give our golden retriever a shower here at home, but thought it was time she got a really good deep cleaning. So happy that I took her to Petco because Sam did an amazing job! Not only did our dog immediately start wagging her tail and loving on her, Sam was super gentle and loving her right back. They were done before the time they told me and when I came to get her, Sam was doing the finishing touches. Cute little pom-pom Bows on her ears and a Star Wars bandanna. The daily store staff at this Petco are very friendly and helpful. My issue is specifically with the grooming department. I called them on Saturday, 8/3 about getting my English Bulldog's (Sookie) nails trimmed and was told to bring her in on Sunday, which I did at 12:26pm... here's where things went south. There was only one groomer, and she greeted me with a not so pleasant glare. I asked if Sookie could have a bath and get her nails trimmed. The groomer immediately responded "No" and asked if I had an appointment. I explained to her that I called the day before and was told to just come in. Her response, "Well I'm the only one here, we're booked and we don't have any openings until 8/10." (That would be 6 days later!!!). Not sure if she was having a bad day or was in a "Make America Great" mindset (the vibe she gave me). With that I turned around and walked out the store! If you still decide to take your pet to this location for groomings, you may want to avoid the burley woman with the arm tattoos. Also forgot to mention, the grooming area was empty and only one dog was being serviced. SMH!!! read more

I am very dissapointed with Petco Grooming on Bouquet Canyon. I received a several texts from them about my furry Kailua's grooming appointment, and when I got there I was told our appointment was canceled. The technician said the manager called me that morning on the actual appointment date to confirm if I was coming, and I missed the call because I was feeding Kailua her breakfast. Plus why would they even call to confirm if I already did my early check in the day before??? Anyway the technician that morning Friday August 18th said she'll talk to her manager, and that manager did not even came out to talk to me and explained why our appointment was cancelled. She had the technician talk to me, and I just walk out because I was so frustrated. Things did not make sense at all, and I will never understand why that manager decided to cancel our appointment. This manager should know better on how to treat the clients; especially if you are their regular customers. I never had problem when Jane (one of their technician) helps me, and Petco should promote her as the manager because she knows how to treat customers right and she is very well mannered. The assigned manager should be demoted. Just for what happened I don't think I will ever take any of puppies back for grooming at this Petco location 26501 Bouquet Canyon Rd., Saugus. read more

I'll give 5 stars to two employees, as I always get friendly, consistent and good service in the aquatic department from Chuck and Jeanette (sp?). They know their stuff and are always willing to give advice with whatever I'm purchasing. Another 5 stars to their pet adoptions/rescue. I've adopted two cats from them (so far) and it's so good to see people trying to give animals another chance at life (before the shelters have to let them go.) Because of Covid-19, I ordered some supplies on their website for curbside delivery. When I got there, I was surprised to see the store open. Instead of requesting to receive my order outside, I went in to do a little browsing. When I was done, I went to the checkout where two younger people were chatting behind the register. Since no one else was in line, I walked up to the register. They continued their (personal) discussion and ignored me until they were done. Then the male looked up, raised his eyebrows (I guess his greeting). I advised him that I had an order to pickup and showed him my receipt. Still without saying a word, he walked away. I wasn't sure what he was doing or if I should even wait for him. Then he walked to their storage bins, picked out my order and brought it to me. I checked the bag to verify my purchase and said "yep, that's it". Finally he speaks "There you go" and walks back to his register. That's just rude. Efficient? yes, Courteous? Absolutely not. (He's the reason for docking the one star.) They can get a robot to do that. Doesn't anyone say "thank you" any more? read more

Took my pup here for her shots & the Vetco girls & doctor were VERY sweet & helpful. This was despite the fact that my father came in very agitated because our yorkie was barking up a storm (due to extreme anxiety). They managed to give him the shots, and then it was my pups turn. They explained everything to me prior, and were very receptive to my questions. I noticed the had flea meds lined up along the wall, and asked about them. The doctor was able to tell me the pros/cons of each & help me make a choice for my doggy. Overall they were very professional & nice & I would highly recommend them to keep your doggies shots up to date quickly. Believe they do the shots every Thursday and Sunday. My total for all her shots (minus rabies) was $64. For three months of flea/tick meds (Bravecto) it was $60. Not bad if you ask me! If you're planning on doing the rabies shot though, bring proof of prior rabies shot on paper and you can get the 2 (or 3 year) rabies shot, instead of the 1 year shot! I will definitely be back here for my doggie's shots the next time around! Good job Vetco! You really exceeded my expectations! read more

I have 4 very picky cats, one of which will only eat dry food as much as I wish I could cut out dry food in their diet. When I brought this up to Angie she recommended a holistic brand that had natural ingredients and was super inexpensive. It meant a lot to me that she took her time to listen to me about my different cat personalities and then recommend a product she trusts with her own cats. Thank you Angie! This is no place to take your dog in for grooming. Took my dog there and made them stop after I saw what they did. Had to have Wiskers mobile try to salvage him. But they couldn't and had to shave him completely. Called Petco corporate and got passed around, but promised to have higher up call me within 48 hours. It's been 5 days and they obviously don't care. Them only want to take your money. Never again will I step in any Petco. Petsmart just got a new customer. read more

A one star is too good.. I do not know what has happened to this place but I am even stopping my online orders. I went in due to receiving the wrong product from the online store and that is where it began. The cashier didn't know what to d so she called the manager. The Manager never came and a young man named Hunter finally showed up.. I told him the issue and he went to find the correct items. After walking back and forth for about 30 mins telling me he was still looking, still looking and than POOF... I never saw him again. I was there for around 45 mins and I was getting upset. I asked for him and I was told "HE WENT HOME" He literally left me standing around. So completely disrespectful that I have no words. I MEAN NO WORDS for this... June 2, 2012 was graduation day for my puppy Cassie! I cannot say enough about Tanya. She is a fantastic dog trainer. Tanya is very knowledgeable about puppies, dogs and dog related questions in general -I mean everything I asked about, food, toys, behaviors, training, etc. she had a good answer to share with us. Now, I believe you can have all the knowledge in the world about dogs, but all that doesn't mean a whole lot if you don't have the personality, love and passion for what you do. Tanya is exceptional when dealing with all the dogs. My dog Cassie absolutely loves her, was responsive to her commands and kissed her every chance she got. All other dogs in our Puppy Level 2 class loved her also. Tanya showed us all the tricks and training tips we need to help our puppy become a well behaved dog. Of course you will get what you give out of the class. We did our homework every week and we see progress every week. My Cassie is a 10 month old lab/beagle mix and she is very playful and sometimes has a short attention span, with that being said, she has learned all the basic commands already - sit, down, stay, wait, off (when she jumps on us), leave it (when she needs to leave something alone, like treats or our cat!), stand and stay, roll over, lose leash walking and heel -I can't remember what else, but those are the commands I use on a daily basis with her. Cassie is still a puppy and gets distracted now and then, but that's fine, with Tanya's training we are well on our way to have the perfect dog!! Oh! Since our dog is a rescue, Petco gave us a $20 discount on the class. That was nice. Seriously, stop by, meet Tanya and take your dogs to her classes. You -and your dogs- will not regret it. Today I went in to look at hair cutters to shave my cats, asked a guy for some help he directed me to ask grooming. Went in and while the employees were in the middle of grooming pets (obviously) they asked me to wait a couple minutes and they'd help me. I honestly expected to wait awhile since they were busy, totally understandable. A girl had came out literally a minute later more then helpful. I didn't get her name unfortunately. But she showed me all the razors, and explained to me how to shave my cats, she took her time to describe to me why I needed a specific cutter compared to others, what she recommended, & what to be careful of. Review for the dog training classes... I was very happy with our training classes. The classes are kept small about 6 dogs and Tanya the trainer is very knowledgeable. You get what you put into the class...do a lot of work at home practicing what you learn in class. The classes were very affordable compared to private trainers and even petsmart. A while back I went to Petco and a certain food they carried was no longer there so I went to Petsmart, which is further away and found it. I contacted this Petco and a guy whose name I unfortunately didn't catch, said he would be happy to order it for me but at that time I had just bought a whole case at Petsmart but said I'd call them when I needed it. He said he'd order it anyway. Very nice of him. Fast forward a month later and I go to Petco and the brand of food is there but not in Chicken, which is the only flavor I can use for my 20 year old cat. The nice clerk said she'd ask the manager and soon comes back to say the manager said they don't carry it anymore and can't order it. I asked to speak to the manager and he did come. Must have been 20 something years old. I told him that I had spoken to someone a month prior (apparently it wasn't him) who said they can order it for me. I had to reiterate this a few times and finally he said unless it's listed on line he couldn't. However, he didn't look online. So he said he'd look but I couldn't wait as I had been there longer than I wanted to be. Why I wonder, wouldn't a manager look before he tells a customer we can't get it before researching it? As a matter of fact the product WAS online. I don't understand what is wrong with young people today that they are so averse to helping a customer. I told him I'd call later in the hopes that he was able to check online but I didn't. I just went to Petsmart where they carried a lot of that product. I was telling the cashier about my Petco experience and the cashier told me there was a problem getting that food for a while but it's been more readily available now. A cashier at Petsmart knew this...but a manager at Petco did not. Even a worker in the store told me to check with someone else, rather than this guy. Let's play a game called 'find your neurotic/scared/shy dog a groomer"! Doesn't sound so fun or easy, does it? After trying several different pet places/people, we finally settled on the Santa Clarita Petco, and for one reason only -- Tyler. Tyler is one of the leading groomers in the grooming dept, and with good reason. She is kind, gentle, funny, and genuinely loves the dogs. Every time I make an appt for my baby, I'm sure to ask for her. In fact, on the rare occasions when she hasn't been available, I've canceled my appointment because no one else is nearly as nice or gentle with the pups. The pricing is moderate: a bath and brush will run you about $40 for a mid-sized (40 lb) mixed breed, and it includes "the works" -- aka nail clipping, dry skin conditioner, a brush out, etc. If I could find a place that'd be a little cheaper (I have 2 dogs), with someone as caring as Tyler I'd probably go there instead, but until I do, Tyler's our one and only girl -- and you can only find her here! read more

I took my little corgi in this afternoon for a grooming service. Damara is always so excited to see Chewbacca when we arrive, and she does a fantastic job while he is there. Corgi's shed a LOT, and Damara takes the time to brush him out above and beyond what any other grooming company would provide. We really appreciate her help! read more

Formerly my go to appointment stop for my dog's grooming, but after 4 or 5 visits we just weren't satisfied with the results after picking him up. He usually still had hairs flying off of him in the car on our drives home, and sharp nails, barely trimmed. Petsmart gets that job now. As the closest pet place near my home, I've been here many times. When I was 11 (not that many moons ago but a good number of them) I got a box turtle from here and the genius (insert internet sarcasm) working the reptile section told little ol' me that since it was summer my turtle would not need a heating lamp and wood chips as bedding would be perfect. My turtle promptly got ill from eating the bedding and the cold from no heating lamp. Medicine was needed for weeks, it was horrible. Flash back to now, I do my own research for my critters and just buy supplies here. We just got a new puppy and I needed a few quick supplies and wanted to return items purchased online in preparation for the new dog. The store is clean but the service is lacking. I crossed paths with same store clerk several times while shopping and not one hello or asked if I needed assistance. I then go to the register to return my items and purchase the new stuff and of course there was a problem even though I had a receipt, had to wait 10 minutes and two PA calls later ...#weird. I agree with the previous reviewer in saying they actually have better pricing online and usually free shipping. I know this place is in a convenient location but if you like this store chain then shop online otherwise go to another pet store for better customer service. read more

My wife and I have been regular Petco customers since 2010. Today, we went into the "Vetco Clinic" (affordable shots that we do annually to keep our adult dogs healthy). The veterinarian performing the vaccinations was intimidated by our German Shepherd because of a "prior experience" he had with a German Shepherd that had attacked him several years in the past. However, his posture and mannerisms enticed nervous behavior in the animals he treated today. Even the Petco customer service representative was far more sufficiently trained, lowering his posture as my German Shepherd came up and kissed him repeatedly on the mouth. The doctor, however, did not understand these critical behaviors while treating the animals. Secondly, we were overcharged. Not significantly, it was only a couple of bucks. Additionally, they have added "biohazard fees" to each of their vaccinations, so with three dogs, that was a hidden fee of $9.00 that we did not anticipate. After we were overcharged, my wife went back to collect the paperwork from the Vetco clinic and they wouldn't give it to her because the representative said to go back to the cashier (wait through the line of 6 people again) and then return with the correct receipt. This was irrelevant since we'd already paid more, so waiting in line a second time was frustrating. Thirdly, when we realized when we were overcharged, our cashier paged the Vetco Clinic for a representative to come to the front. After two pages, nobody came. The impatient line of 6 people staring ominously caused her to ask us to step out of the line so she could continue processing other customers - which became irrelevant since we were told to go back to collect the paperwork anyhow. The entire process was horrendously inefficient and we desperately missed our old Petco in Simi Valley where we had nothing but positive experience with far better trained staff in a store with superior management. I have never been more disappointed in the Petco enterprise. The only reason I left two stars on this review instead of one is because despite being understaffed, one of the representatives (Andrew) did an excellent job of interacting with the animals in line. He would lower his posture and praise them with good behavior and he clearly understood the fundamentals of animal psychology as well as the big picture of what was happening in the store. To leave concise feedback for their management and Yelp: - Train your staff better about interacting with the dogs in the store - On days with Vetco clinics, increase your staff on-duty to do things like cleanup the puddles of urine (there were 2) that were unattended in the store - Find a new Veterinarian, this one demonstrated that he was unqualified (as he did not even perform the 'free physical examination' on any of our pets and interacted with the German Shepherd poorly because of an overgeneralized, negative experience in his own past) - We were overcharged and the process cost us 90 minutes of our day when it should have taken less than 30. read more

My son and I really enjoy coming to this petco. I always make sure that I have plenty of time so we can walk around and look at the different animals/pets. We discussed their care items and what it takes to take care of them. My son is a toddler so he is too young to take care of many of these animals now but in the future I plan to get him fish and a rescue dog. We currently have one cat that he does well with (maybe too many treats are given) So we love this pecto because the associates are so helpful and patient. Yesterday we met and spoke with a lady from a cat rescue. We always donate, even if it is only a couple dollars. Also this location has a large variety of products for our cat. We use a specific litter amd they are always in stock! read more
