5 stars for Jacob in grooming. He's great with customer service and awesome with my senior Pomeranian. However, the girl with the half shaved head walked by me three times without giving me assistance. Unwilling or unable to tell me she'd be able to help shortly. When I finally went up to her to ask for help, she said "Someone else's got you." Terrible attitude and really make shopping at Petco a uncomfortable experience. read more

The customer service there is terrible. This is the second time an employee has told my wheelchair bound father they would not sell him fish because he couldn't take care of them properly. This time it was Patricia that said she cares more about the goldfish than bringing joy to a disabled human veteran. Last time it was Gary that was really rude. So sad that management allows people in their store to be treated this way. Also, the selection isn't great and the store is almost always dirty so the likelihood of us returning is slim and I would not recommend this store to others. read more

I found a hermit crab and needed something inexpensive until someone claimed it. Two employees standing behind the register counter. I asked if they had something one answered they had a 10 gallon tank with a stand. I restated I needed something inexpensive until I could find the owners. I asked don't you have some cheaper...her answer was "probably " and never moved from behind the counter, I thanked her for the lack of customer service and went to PetSmart...great customer service there. Wish I could give it less than one star. Went to buy a GOLD FISH, a 15 gallon fish tank, and all of the accessories that come with it. I'm a hefty spender so I was probably about to spend $250+ so my kids could have an excellent set up. As I go to the front to pick out a GOLDFISH, the lady says that I need to have a 60+ gallon tank per goldfish (of any variety) and she wouldn't sell me one unless I got a bigger tank. The two women in the front were so serious about it, so I just laughed. Left all of the tank, accessories, rocks, filters etc etc on the counter and walked out. I went to Fort Wagg and they squared me away with a 10 gallon starter tank and everything I needed. My only request for you guys is that if you are going to charge for extra services, at least let the dog owner know about it or tell us how much it is going to cost instead of telling us about the service but not saying it is not included and we have to pay extra if we want it. Awful experience! Rude general manager with a frown on his face all the time. Seems like he hates his job. Employees never smile or say hello. Act like they don't want to be there, or even seem like they aren't into animals! Why work there in the first place! The Petco on Horner Boulevard, 421 highway in Sanford, N.C. has major room for improvement. The adoption room is filled with debris and garbage. The glass entrance doors are dirty. The aisles are not consistent. Some are in order, not are disjointed. There is not continuity or predictability. The dog food is not great. The animals are ferrets, reptiles and fish, nothing else. A turtle appeared stressed seeking its freedom via the glass repeatedly. Its situation was cruel. The publlic bathroom is filthy, and this is putting it mildly. There was raw sewage on the toilet and no toilet seat covers. Tissue drags the floor as well. The sink, walls and floors are dirty. This store needs a major inspection from health inspector. Its restroom is a serious public health hazard and a risk not only to adults but to children. The clerk at check-out commented that it was due to be cleaned and she thanked me for informing her. This was the third trip I made to this store. Shoppers will do better to shop else where and not waste time at this over-priced, dirty place. It is a disappointment. Visiting it more than once was a mistake. Clerks are not to be found until you are in lije to check out. There is a major mismanagement of this store indicative of the aforesaid things, and it is shameful the merchandise is overpriced as well. Today I took my two rescue babies to Petco in Sanford NC for a scheduled grooming. The new lady, Tracy, who was checking them in was extremely rude and disrespectful to me. This is the first time I have ever been shouted at and someone interrupting me as I spoke. She shouted at me and waved her finger at me . Very rude and disrespectful. We normally bring our fur babies to Casey, who is very sweet and pet friendly. However, I could not bring myself to leaving my babies there with the thought that this person might have contact with them. I contacted Skip the store manager and spoke with him about the situation.....no resolution accept to tell me he was sorry and she is in training. If you are looking for a friendly caring environment for your pet grooming.....this is NOT the place to go. read more

On 30MAY2020 around 1000 I drove 25 minutes with 4 other people and a dog in my car to purchase items for my animals. I was greeted at the door with a erase board with four papers on it regard COVID-19 "recommendations"? The paper said mask (which was circled), 6 feet spacing, 6 people in the store at a time and groups of 1-2 people. The first group entered the building. 2-3 minutes later as a couple and their dog left, I attempted to enter. I was approached by Chase who said I was unable to enter the building because "My Family" had already entered. I was told that families of more then 1-3 people were not allowed to all enter the store regardless of when they entered. I explained that words have meaning and the board says groups of 1-2 and not 1-3 or families. He said we were a group because their interpretation is a family and since we came in the same car we were not allowed in. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that he was the manager. I asked for Corporates number and was denied that and his name at first. I also mentioned how a group of three was leaving and not following the same "recommendations"? and he said a new policy was out saying 1-3 people were allowed. I asked for this paperwork and was denied. upon continuing to ask, he said there was no such paperwork but "verbal guidance" from their store manager. He left to bring me a copy. Another rude employee came to talk to me. She explained that her interpretation of the "recommendations"? meaning of groups was families larger then 1-2. I also explained the definition of groups, families, parties and was still told I was wrong. I pointed out groups of customers violating several of the other "recommendations"? and the "verbal guidance" regarding 1-3 customers. I was told he was wrong and no such guidance existed. I asked to speak to the manager Chase again to which she said she was also a manager. I asked for the main store manager and was told I could not have her information to reach out to her, the managers name, or when she would be in. I asked for corporates number and was denied by her to include denied her name. At one point she called me "emotional" over their policy. I told her no, but before I could talk again, she continued to speak loudly over me and interrupted me several times. She ever broke the store policy by taking her mask off to yell and belittle me. I mentioned that several people were breaking the no mask policy and how come this rule, the 6 paces and 1-3 people could be exceptions but a "family" of more then 3 could not enter the store in two groups. She told be that the sheet in blue were "recommendations"?? and could be broken. I explained it was circled in marker and the sheet was next to the other "recommendations of 1-2 groups". She told me if I wanted to enter id have to leave my kids in the car. At this point I asked her "You want me to leave my kids in the store to shop here" she then changed the converaation by saying I could not shop with my family. I find this absurd that a business who specifically states do not leave your pets in the car, would have me leave children under 10 in a car during the Summer to take my pet inside to size for a harness. I explained that these two "managers" were stereotyping me and my party as a family because we arrived in the same car. I told them we could be neighbors, friends or a numerous of other options both planning to ride together. With all of the violence going on lately, who would travel alone. I took this experience as customer discrimination and employees "interpreting and lying" to reinforce their decision by power hungry people attempting to get their way. I will never recommend this company to anyone ever again and will advocate to shop everywhere else. I have contacted corporate and waiting for a response, and will be reporting this company and employees. Attached are the signs posted on their store. Employees are friendly and helpful, however either this location is very understaffed, or the employees aren't as attentive to customers as they should be. I've often found myself waiting at the checkout line with no one in sight at the cash register; same for in the grooming salon. Sometimes the line has stacked up to 4 or 5 people before an employee notices. I get that, especially if they're understaffed, employees have to take on multiple roles, like cleaning, stocking, etc., but if that's the case, maybe make sure one person is manning the checkout at all times (at least during peak hours), or at least that someone is checking back regularly to make sure no one's waiting. read more

The "Gm" at the salon has a terrible attitude. Either here nor there what I was asking for or if it is in the policy or not, your in customer service and you are one of the most unfriendly, uninformative, rude employee I have ever dealt with. If you are the general manager of the salon, I am very disappointed in petco choosing someone of such an unprofessional demeanor. I won't be taking my dog back. I waited 3 weeks for an appointment only to find out they lost it again. This has happened twice. And I've been rescheduled several times as well. This store has gone down hill and continues to do so. My last visit to this store, I was waiting to check out and there was no one paying attention to the front. Two employees came up from the back and I know they could see me, but did not acknowledge me. Finally I just put my stuff back and left without being acknowledged once. Absolutely the worst grooming experience ever! Jacob obviously has no clue how to groom a shihtzu. He cut him short for a summer cut, as requested. But, he didn't cut the hair on his head or his bangs. How ridiculous! My friend picked him up for me and mentioned this to him. He took him back and lured his bangs, trimming about an inch directly between his eyes but left the rest. I called to complain when I got off work. No answer. Jacob called me back the next afternoon and apologized. He offered to "fix him" the next day however admitted he had about 5 "do-overs" to do before he could work Cooper in. When I asked about the do-overs he said it's been a bad week! I called the manager (Dawn) that evening. I let her know I would never bring my pet back to the Sanford, NC Petco. I asked for a refund or for the Petco at another store to be contacted to correct Jacob's mess up. She stated she was off work on Saturday (yesterday) but would "contact corporate and another Petco" to see if something could be arranged. She stated she would return my call today (Sunday, June 30) between 10:00-2:00 pm. Something needs to be done about this grooming salon. The manager admitted they were short of help and said all of the "do-overs" Jacob was working on was due to another stylist "Lilah" who is no longer employed. However, Jacob is the stylist who botched my dog's haircut horribly! He even left long sprigs of hair under his belly, between his paw pads on one foot, cut a huge chunk of hair out of his left ear and his tail. My dog had absolutely no matted hair that would have required this. He is a therapy dog and visits nursing facilities weekly. He is bathed weekly and brushed daily. There's no excuse for this horrible treatment! I paid $50 for the grooming, $5 for the nail trim, and even had my friend who picked him up give him a $5 tip! If I had been able to pick him up, I promise you I would have went directly to the manager and wouldn't have paid for this mess! read more

5 stars for the groomer, he did an amazing job. Was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. 2 stars for the rest of the store. I went in to get turtle food and aquatic traveling cases. I was stopped at the door by an employee telling me I am only able to get essentials, and that aquatic traveling cases aren't essential and I can order those online and someone will bring them to me. I asked if I can look at them she said no. So I got the turtle food, sat in the car and ordered the cases, they sent an email stating my order was ready and 2 items aren't available and that I had to go to the register to pick it up. I WALK BACK INTO THE STORE, another lady is behind me and proceeds to SHOP. I head to the register and I ask about the unavailable items and if there are similar items she says LETS GO LOOK.. so we proceed to walk around the store..I find similar items and check out. If an employee is going to tell customers 1 thing then all of the employees need to be told that same thing, so there isn't any confusion. I spent more time here than necessary, for no reason. I could have simply picked all the items I needed the first time I came into the store. The coronavirus has already added a layer of confusion to this already draining time, employees don't need to make things harder for people trying to get items for their pets. read more
