I'm scared of snakes so when I went in I immediately asked about them and was told at that time they were in the back where they change tanks. Well that worked out well because I just wanted to stroll through the store to see what they had for my lizard that I had. I received so much information on how to take care of my baby at that time. Went to drop my pet off with this location, and they refused to trim my dog because he has had two seizures in his 7 years of life. It is sad they are willing to treat my two "healthy" dogs but refuse to see my little guy be cause has had some health issues. Regardless if they think he is "worthy" of being trimmed or not he does need groomed by a professional. I purchased Large Super Worms for my bearded dragon that said they were allegedly born on January 30th and I purchased on February 5th which i went to feed him these super worms which were supposed to be fresh. Little did I know the substrate was damp and 85% of the worms were dead. I will never feed my bearded dragon anything from any petco ever again. They are neglectful and this was disgusting. I value my pets life over some neglected creature from a chain business like petco. That's probably why my well taken care of fish died in 2 days because they lack training and sanitation and proper care of their animals. This is a nice Petco, full of most things you would want or need for your typical pets. They usually have a little kitten or puppy from KC Pet Project to play with and if you're a good pet owner, you should take one home! I recently rescued my pup and was finally getting her into the groomers to get a bath and a trim. I had a few questions regarding my appointment, including why I had received an email that my appointment was moved up on me. When I called I spoke with a girl named Ally. She was so incredibly rude on the phone, told me that I was lying/wrong and that no one moved my appointment, so rude regarding my questions about what I needed to provide prior to my appointment, I could not believe the conversation, and was so taken back I actually canceled my appointment. I would never take my dog here and leave it with someone who doesn't have the patience to answer a few questions let alone manage an animal. Definitely recommend avoiding this location. read more

My son won a goldfish at a carnival two months ago and I'm working on trying to upgrade him from a 5 gallon to a 30 gallon tank. Being a new fish owner is overwhelming so we paid a visit to Petco to learn what we needed to help along the Nitrogen Cycle. Luckily, Sarah was working the day we went in. She approached us and asked if we needed any help (which, of course, we did). She spent time with us, answered our questions knowledgeably, and helped guide us in the right direction. Let me start off by saying that my dog, Dobby, is extremely picky with people. He came from an abusive household before we adopted him. I never thought I'd find a groomer that he was comfortable with. That was until I came to Petco and met Allyson. Dobby loves her! She does such an amazing job on his nails. One time I walked in after paying and saw them cuddling. I never once thought that Dobby could get more comfortable with another human but she naturally has the gift of making dogs calm and comfortable. Plus, she always gives him these cute little bandanas and he never wants to take them off! read more

Took my two dogs for grooming at this Petco. The groomers did a good job, even though one forgot to pull ear hairs as I had requested. However, the reason for the low rating is that both dogs picked up Kennel Cough in the 2.5 hours that they were there. They haven't been anywhere else and they both came down with it just days after having been there. read more

They had a very helpful and friendly staff person (Cierra) who took my request seriously and helped me to try and find a product that would really work. My Dog Frankie had Vega C as his groomer. She did a beautiful job..his coat looked so nice and clean and his haircut and nails were perfect!! I went in today to browse, and to ultimately look at nylabones for my dogs. This one, older, male employee asked to help me once. I told him I was fine and was just looking. I ended up leaving without buying anything. He stops me at the door and while asking me if I had any questions, he gives me a visual pat down, specifically looking at both my pockets for what I assume is anything large enough to be suspicious. I said, "no, I was just browsing today." I left, no big scene. However, I won't be shopping there from now on. I gave no indication that I would be stealing anything. Now I feel like either I look like I have a theft problem or that Petco has a policy to make anyone who leaves without buying something feel super awkward. Personally I'm not into being made to feel like a thief, so I'll just shop at Petsmart, where I can browse without being humiliated. read more

I've enjoyed every visit to this store. I do wish corporate would learn to support their people better. It is a nightmare to constantly be told to do outrageous amounts of work with less and less hours given to do it. Michelle and her friends who work there are wonderful at Olathe, KS Blackbob location. You can tell she live what she does, unlike people at Petsmart grooming. My Bella would come home with wounds and cut from Petsmart grooming service, but here at Petco grooming she was pampered and loved. Michelle always took great care and eben gave her some treats! She would come home happy smells great and with ribbion on her hair. We been going her for many years now. Give tgem a try and you will not go back to PetSmart. They got bad service bad attitude. This is kind of a dirty looking store. I don't think it is but it does feel like it. However, I like their organic dog food section. My boys are thrilled with the large treat bar. And it's never crowded, so we can actually take them in the store without fear of embarrassment. Another plus is an employee is actually always at the checkout counter. (unlike pet smart). This Petco is the one nearest our home, but not my favorite Petco due to size, cleanliness of the store and the checkout experience. This store always looks a bit grungy and unkempt. Often there is nobody manning the registers and by the time someone gets around to checking people out, the line is unruly. I tend to shop at the one on 95th Street when I'm in the area because it's a nicer store and it saves me time. read more

We took our fur baby there for grooming and he came back with a severe ear infection that we are still fighting!! He looked good though!

Took my golden doodle on to get groomed. I was aware that he would have to be shaved but expected that they could at least make his face look like a golden doodle or do something besides completely shave him. I picked him up and he is completely shaven and looks nothing like a doodle. His ears are very irritated from the grooming. When I was called to get him I rushed right over and then had to sit and wait in the salon for 15 minutes because no one was in there. The stylists were no where to be found. A sales associate that walked by eventually helped me and got me my dog. I received no feed back on his care. The salon was filthy. The crew was too busy gossiping with each other when I dropped my dog off to hardly have a conversation with and explain what was going on. The biggest complaint was waiting to get my dog when I went to pick him up. Someone should have been in the salon. When I walked out to checkout one of the salon workers was by the register talking to a friend and playing with a dog. I would not recommend using this store. There's always a old man that is rude and cranky and can't hear very well so you have to somewhat scream for him to hear you and he looks at you and makes a dumb face like what you said was crazy or something. Every time I come here I have a problem but I don't want to travel a long distance to go to another petco and pets mart is even more expensive so I try to come to this location and I always spend a lot of money and everything as far as the products and cleanliness of the store is good but the staff is always stuck up and hateful. Either the young women are hateful and rude or the old man is rude. Wow. Next time I will make sure I travel a further distance and feel appreciated elsewhere rather than be treated like this again. I can't believe petco turned into a hassle. It used to be so nice just going in and shopping and not feeling like I'm a bother and now it's just gone down hill. Management needs to do a better job of hiring employees and make sure they understand that it is a retail store and being friendly and customer oriented is a MUST. read more

I took my dog to the groomer here today when the people at Petsmart canceled on me last minute. I was going to use their wash-your-dog-yourself services but when I met the groomer, Jessica, I was struck by how nice and professional she was, and I knew I could trust her with my sometimes-rambunctious 8-month-old dog. It was a good call -- she did an amazing job on him, and he seemed to like her a lot. The cashiers at the front were also extremely friendly. Very positive experience.
