Always a great experience! We've been bringing our rescue pup, Gracie, to Petco for the past six years, and she has always been treated with kindness and genuine care. For years, this was where she received her routine shots and Simparica Trio every six months, and the staff consistently made her feel comfortable and welcome. In October, we transitioned her to a full-service veterinarian after noticing symptoms that a shot clinic couldn't address. Even so, Petco has continued to be an important part of her care and well-being. The recommended food options have helped tremendously with her allergies, and every visit feels like a positive experience for her--she always gets to make new friends, try new treats, and pick out new toys. On our most recent visit, we purchased Merrick Beef, Bison, and Sweet Potato dry food, and I'm truly hopeful it will continue to benefit her as she turns 7 this April. We also picked up Blue Buffalo wet food, choosing the Porterhouse and Filet Mignon pâté flavors, which are perfect for her small teeth. Every product recommendation feels thoughtful and well-suited to her needs. Recently, our veterinarian discovered that Gracie has a heart murmur, so we're doing everything possible to keep her healthy and comfortable for as long as we can. It was an emotional time for our family, so of course we spoiled her a little--with treats and even a new pet fish "brother." I picked out a stunning royal blue and red Delta Tail male betta fish who is perky, active, and absolutely beautiful. I also found a hydroponic tank setup so he can peacefully coexist with marble queen pothos clippings, which is both functional and visually gorgeous. I have 125 plants inside our home so selecting just the right plant took me a few days. Lol... I highly recommend the Petco North Charleston location. The staff is knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly cares about both pets and their people. I adopted a small poodle dog this summer and the little cutie needs grooming more often than I expected. No stressing though because Michelle does a wonderful job. He gets a little nervous going in and she calms him right down and says how much he enjoys the bath, the warm dryer, and he smiles the whole time she is brushing and shaping his coat. Today was an eventful day. While my oldest dog was being vaccinated, she started to have a seizure. The vet techs were patient and warm in helping me to calm her down. They provided me with advice to record the next seizure for the the vet appointment to follow up. Staff walked me to the front while holding my youngest dog and were very accommodating. I got to check out and realized I left my wallet at home. They were extremely patient and helpful in helping me download Apple Pay and figuring out how to use it. I brought my puppy here this morning to get a clean up after a really bad experience with the grooming review I left for a Summerville grooming business. Amber who is the lead groomer and she is at the front desk was absolutely amazing she heard my story regarding the services I had for my dog yesterday and they were not rendered. Amber went ahead and took care of my dog like if it was her dog she took him in this morning and she cleaned him up gave him a bath and you could tell that he was really bathed versus the other grooming place did not give him a bath because he was so dry when I picked him up from Petco he was smooth cleaned she did an amazing job with him she sang to him so he would calm down because he was fearful and I never even knew that Petco had grooming services inside of their stores and they're so affordable. The team that is there doing the grooming is an amazing team you have three great girls! These girls are passionate about puppies they're passionate about how they treat your puppy. They are passionate about how you even feel about the experience your puppy got their goal is to make sure that your puppy is taking care of just as good as if you were to do it at home (wash) I honestly feel like I have found the one place where my puppy will be gone from now on just because Amber was so above and beyond and she showed me everything she did and she explained to me everything that I have to do at home to keep up with what they were doing so if you're looking for a good affordable attentive and loving groomer this is it and it's inside Petco who knew!? read more

Purchased a green cheek conure on April 23rd. It was fine Friday the 23rd in the morning by the time I got back from work it had passed. Talk to the assistant manager and the store manager who never seems to be there said oh well its out of the 30 day return window. Now don't get me wrong if it was 6 months or a year I'd understand but an animal that should live close to 30 years and it doesn't make it 2 months. DO NOT BOOK GROOMING HERE AND DEFINITELY NOT WITH JESSCIA. I made my grooming appointment for my two Pomeranians a week in advance. I come in and drop off my two dogs at 10:30 PM and never got a phone call or text message concerning my two dogs when they were finished. I called the grooming department twice trying to check on my dogs and no one answered. My boyfriend calls the store and Anthony who worked the cashier answered, however, he wasn't able to get grooming to come to the phone. He said he would tell them to call me, they never called, It's 3:30 now. My boyfriend and I drove to Petco and when we arrive we noticed Jesscia realizing we are back. We saw her rush to get one of my dogs and is running to the grooming station. 5 hours have passed and she wasn't even finished grooming my dog. We also spoke with another woman who dropped off her dog at 1:30 PM and she got a text message saying her dog was finished with her grooming appointment. Jesscia and the two other women knew I was upset and never apologized for not prioritizing my dogs. Jesscia came out with my two dogs handed them into my hands and ran off to the back without addressing the problem because she knew she fucked up. Additionally, we when get in the car we realize that they weren't even finished grooming my dogs. It looks like their faces weren't even touched and the hair on their backs near their tails look butchered. I am not going to be paying almost $100 for grooming services when my dogs are spending the majority of their times locked up in a crate because the employees can't do their jobs in a timely matter or at least have the courtesy to answer the phone or give me a notice that it's taking longer than expected and they aren't even getting a quality cut. read more

This Petco location is eh. While they do have a good amount of items, I feel like their setup is ridiculous. It's very cramped and set up odd. Coming into the store you have to around a large set up of dog treats. (Going with your dog- bad idea. The first thing they see is all of those loose treats and the first thing they do is go toward the area) The aisles are very small and you can barely get around with your cart. I saw *one* salesperson the entire time. He was hovering around the registers, which made it frustrating when trying to find stuff in the store. I basically wasted fifteen minutes walking around looking for something. I probably won't go out of my way to go back to Petco/this location. read more

Newly opened in the Rivers Ave. Walmart Shopping Center where the old Office Max or Depot used to be. Not sure if this is an addition or replacement to the one that is or was further down on 5900 Rivers. Friendly cashier/staff..standard pet supplies, nice layout and organization. Nothing on sale yet. They have a reward program..thought prices were high compared to Petsmart and smaller , but adequate selection. Pet Grooming services are available. The thing I liked the best was in front they have like a pet bakery stand where you scoop up baked goodies, cookies and put in a bag and pay by the weight. There were also pre-packaged colorful cookies for dogs. These goods look and smell delicious...I almost bit into one myself! Some look like cookies, some shaped like bones, some are frosted...my dogs LOVE them! I will definitely be back to get some more. well i thought morgan was nice but for some reason when i went to schedule an appointment to go and take my dog to get her nails done they told me that they will no longer allow me to bring her. i have been going there for 4 to 5 years and never had a problem but when i took her on a day that morgan was not there and someone else did her nails and said that me and my dad called her stupid and than morgan said that my dad said she was fat over a year ago and that was all false. so i know that it is said that they would lie on people like that. they must not care in how they lie on people. i never would think that they would do that, and my dog actual owner pays me to take care of her 2 times a month while they are out of town and because of what they have done and lied the actual owners are going to get a lawyer for not just lying but they have hurt her paws while doing her nails. we were just going to let it all go but since they want to lie than we will be taking action. read more

Very poorly kept. There are always an enormous amount of dead fish that are very noticeable to the employees. I'm not sure if it's the lack of education about fish or possibly poor work ethic. It's very sad that these animals are so poorly taken care of. It is quite depressing and I do not suggest this location. read more

I have been taking my two dogs for grooming for over 2 years. Amber is the best groomer in the area (maybe the world) :) She takes such special care and does such a wonderful job. My younger dog is a bit of a pill and she manages to keep him in line. We always feel happy after a trip to see Amber! The rest of the staff is always helpful and Addy is a great trainer. read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE A SOCIALLY ANXIOUS DOG!!!! I have a dog that is in training for social anxiety. I have spent HOURS working with her (Even have used a professional that I loved) and unfortunately the progress I have made just got slashed! You would expect people working in pet stores to either A) Have common sense to not run strait up to a dog (Especially one backing up and growling) and to not talk excessively loud at said dog OR B) Have been trained to not do said things. Unfortunately this is what just happened to us. And even after I told them she was scared and in training while I was trying to back away, they continued to come strait at her and then wanted to chat! They essentially chased us out the door while I was trying to restrain my 84lb dog from RUNNING out the door! Safe to say I will NOT be going back there! read more
