Petco groomed my poodle in the spring. my dog had a subaceous cyst which I pointed out to the groomer. She ran the clippers right over it anyway. It subsequently became infected and I had a $173 vet bill. I complained to the manager twice and no one ever got back to me. I called a third time and was told that groomer is gone. Thankful to the staff. They were nice. And took good care of my girls. I have used them before but didn't expect this over charge. The person at the the register even said they tripled charged me. They called the manager. Really nice people and will definitely come back. Just confirm you price first. $200 went to $350 but I paid it. Just be conscious about your price. read more

very disappointed had very expensive saltwater fish and they would not sell me any water, for a friend moved my tank from a different location and took the water out. They said I would have to surrender my fish to them and they would resale them.... said it was a policy of the company. asked if I could pay a boarding fee even by my own fish back. they said no. this is a place who wants my business in the future. that's a negative and I would not give the fish up for these people to make a profit. pray they survived set them free. My husband and I took both of our dogs to get their nails done. They asked about rabies shots which they both had but I didn't have their papers, just tags which is fine. Understood that but the woman made a comment about my dog having an issue with her leg, having to have a note from the vet. We informed her that she skips and been there many times. Had our dog groomed today and after telling the groomer twice how we wanted her cut, she still couldn't get it right. We told her to keep the feathers on her legs and she cut the back feathers off. She was suppose to blend the fur on top of her head with the rest but you can see a line where she ended it. This is probably the worse cut our dog has ever had. I don't recommend taking a dog to be groomed here. read more

I truly cannot rave enough about Petco Dog Grooming in Sayebrook Plaza & Kimberly enough! My nervous little elderly dogs have always hated the groomer, and while they still aren't a big fan of it, there temperment is completely different at Petco vs. other groomers. I know that they are in good hands and I don't worry about my dogs sitting in a crate with a blow dryer for hours. I know that the staff has my dog's best interest in mind, and they do everything to make the dogs and their owners feel at ease. All the groomers are SO sweet and professional, they always greet us with a smile and are mindful of anything I mention. I'll ALWAYS be a customer of Petco. read more

We've been taking our dogs here for almost 2 years for grooming. They do an excellent job and actively work to find ways to make the experience more comfortable for my dogs. We also started a training class before Covid lockdown shut it down. The trainers called us regularly during lockdown to see if there was anything we needed, or anything they could advise on over the phone. A new pet supply place just opened a couple blocks from my house, but I will continue to make the drive to this Petco. read more

PetCo advertises walk-in nail trims for dogs. Well early this afternoon I took my two small dogs for walk in nail trims at PetCo on Sayebrook Parkway. No one was in the waiting area & at least 3 staff personnel were observed behind the glass. A young male with an extremely nervous energy came through the employee door with a dog he could barely control. As he struggled to keep a hold of the animal, he told me to take my dogs out into the store & wait. After another owner picked up her pet from him, the employee then allowed me back into the waiting area. He asked if I had an appointment, which I stated I was bringing the dogs in for nail trims. He told me I would need to wait another 20 mins before they could assist us. I asked if they no longer accepted walk ins to which he rudely stated they do, but were full for the day. I found this to be very poor customer service especially for what they continue to falsely advertise as walk in services. I told the young man a 20 minute wait was completely unacceptable & immediately left the store. I drove across the street to Petsmart to which the grooming staff immediately took both pups as walk ins & completed both nail trims for less money than PetCo charges; no problem. Needless to say; I am done with PetCo. The fact they advertise walk ins are accepted with no disclosures whatsoever regarding possible long waits or discontinuation of accepting walk ins when they have previously confirmed appointments is completely unacceptable. I was there 6 hours before they closed & due to their extremely poor customer service & rude employee, I took my business & money across the street to Petsmart. PetCo not only lost my business, but created a loyal Petsmart customer as an end result. read more

I needed to get my labs nails trimmed and I was debating on going to Petco or Petsmart as they were both very close to my house. I told myself that whoever was the nicest on the phone would be the place that I went to. Needless to say I called Petsmart first because it was already in my phone and was not pleased with the response I received when I asked about walking in to get the service. I then called Petco and spoke with jocelyn who couldn't have been any nicer and told me to come on in! She also reminded me that I needed an updated rabies vaccine so I was prepared when I stopped in. The groomers were also very nice and did a great job. Petco for us from now on! read more

I am a frequenter of this store, as I have four dogs. I love all my "babies" and get their dog food here. I pick up collars, flea and tick supplies, and other products my dogs need. This store also has training classes, that I don't use, because my dogs have me trained quite well. This Petco also has a grooming section, where I have my "wee ones" washed, fluffed and come out smelling wonderful. My 3 little ones enjoy it when I take them for their "day of beauty" and they all prance with their backs arched, as to say, look at me Mom? They are happy and are treated wonderfully. I have received phone calls in the past stating that my babies picked up some fleas and required a flea bath, and asked for my ok. I do appreciate that. This store also sells items for cats, dogs, birds, fish and other animals. I just have dogs and I have not investigated their selection for those animals. They do sell some birds, hamsters and other small animals. I am very happy with the groomers in this shop, as well as the stores staff. They are pleasant and very helpful, even offering to help carry large bags to my car. read more

I took rocky there for a second time grooming but first time at petco. I was called and told he didn't do well on the table and peeing on table so they weren't able to finish trimming. I was surprised since he did so well at the last groomer but I went to pick him up. He was pulling me out of the store and on the way out an employee stopped to pet him. He peed again. Now I knew something was wrong. He was scared.. I got him in the car and he was whimpering. I noticed blood on my seat. They had cut his quick on his back paw and front paw. I was livid... I called from the parking lot and told her what I saw. She said we put stop quick on it. I expressed how painful that was and that was why he was having a hard time in the table .. he was scared.. she said nothing but u can bring him back in and we can apply more stop quick. Again I expressed my disappointment and she said the same thing. No apology no empathy for his pain .. nothing.. I'm am totally disappointed with the jagged trim and the inabilities of the groomer. I believe she was inexperienced as he did not have any issues with his prior groomer but of course they didn't hurt him when trimming the nails. Advice from a beginner. If you start to press through the nail and the dog yelps you cut too far.. Disgusted!!!! read more

I've brought Otis in a couple of times now and he comes back handsome every time!! I went through a few terrible groomers before bringing him into Petco and they have seriously been a life saver! All the girls there are super nice and listen attentively to what I want, which is what I appreciate the most. This last time when I got home I noticed I wanted a little bit more off of his ears called up and asked if it was ok to swing back by for a quick touch up and Heather was so nice about it! My last groomer would have made me feel bad about it for either A. not speaking up about it in the first place or B. "being too picky", but Heather was SUPER nice about it trimmed them up perfectly. I look forward to his cuts now vs. dreading them and putting them off like I used to. read more

These people are the worst! Refused to give dog a haircut because he had crusty eyes. Said dog needed to see vet when he had just been to vet 3 days prior and vet suggested dog get a haircut so eyes don't get crusted! They will find any reason to not do their job and are downright rude about it. Posting this here trying to find the owner even though i know it's a stretch without pictures. i was in petco grabbing food for my dogs. As i'm passing the grooming station the girl grooming grabbed this little white dog by his ear, tugging it with her teeth gritting saying DONT TRY AND BITE ME i tapped on the glass and said DONT YOU DARE. When she saw that i saw what she had done she changed her face to a smile and was saying it calmly to the dog. Not today i'm the wrong person i will not let something like that go. So the manager comes out and is trying to calm me down then takes the groomers side!! I said this is why your stores have horrible reputations and you need to check your cameras. The manager was basically telling me my eyes lied to me and i don't know what i saw. So if you had a small white dog getting groomed at the myrtle beach petco location in the SAYEBROOK TOWN CENTER at 2:30pm on 2/25/23 I witnessed with my own eyes your dog being abused by this petco groomer. read more

My standard poodle is over 120 lbs. that means there's a lot of real estate to cover! lol Service was great and faster than the Petco team said it would be. The reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that the fur/hair between his pads was way too long. As it worked out I was able to trim those areas much shorter. I'm sure on our next visit that won't be an issue! read more

I love that they have only the best for all my animals, and thy you can ask all the questions you need to and they will always answer honestly and do their best to find the answer if it is not known. My kid and I always look through the pets for fun when we go to buy dog food. Over the weekend a guinea pig caught my eye because she was so tiny, smaller than any one I've ever seen for sale, and she was just standing in the middle of the cage and not active like the other ones. I asked an associate about her and was assured that she was fine and then was told that she was probably just very young (too young to have been weaned) and unfortunately, they have seen them come in even younger than this. First- it is deplorable that this company supports this practice and accepts these pets to sell to the public. I never buy from pet stores and I'm actually quite against supporting this sort of thing, but something inside me said this little creature needed help, so I ended up buying her and bringing her home. I didn't actually believe she was ok, despite being told she was. I was right. She ended up dying in my daughters hands about 15 hours later. Before she died, I called Petco to ask if she could see a vet because that's part of the agreement and they told me to bring her up there and they would. It was Easter Sunday, so I asked if there would actually be a vet to see her or if she would sit in a cage and die there, and they had to make phone calls first. I will give them credit, they made the phone calls and called me back very quickly and confirmed my suspicion that no one could see her that day. I appreciate the honesty here. But had I not asked, they would've just taken her in knowing the stress of the drive was enough to kill her and not knowing if there was actual help for her once she got there. Though I suspected the animal wasn't well, I still hoped she was, and my daughter was devastated spending her Easter morning watching her new pet die. I am grateful that I got her out of that cramped cage and was able to show some love to this animal in her final hours. All of the things we purchased for her were returned without hassle, and all money was refunded. We were offered a replacement, but I couldn't watch another animal suffer like that and I can see that insuring the health of the pets that leave the store isn't a priority. I would encourage anyone to think again before purchasing a pet from this establishment. Spend some time and make an effort to look at a local rescue or seek out a responsible breeder if you have your heart set on adding a new fuzzy friend to the family. read more

I have a little maltipoo puppy (Maltese and teacup poodle) who has long, extremely fine hair. I took him to the groomers yesterday for a full service and told them to cut his fur down to about half of its original length, which would make his fur about 2.5 inches long. His appointment was at 11am and I didn't get him back till 4pm. The groomers brought him out and I was awe struck. He had been almost completely shaved. There is virtually no fur around his bum. His fur is so short that I can see his pink skin underneath and on top of that he has little bleeding nicks all over him!! Poor little guy was traumatized. I will not be returning. I'll learn how to groom him myself before I bring him back here. read more

Had my dog groomed here today. Gave it 1 star because the staff were very nice, especially the ones at the front counter. Everyone greeted my dog and myself with a smile which I appreciated. However, I was very dissatisfied with the grooming. I had requested to have my dogs belly and rear shaved, have some mats removed and keep as much of his length as possible (I brush him almost daily so his hair wasn't too bad except for some mats on two legs and one under his chin). Was told it takes 3 hours which seemed absurdly long but ok you're busy - does that mean my dog spends a lot of that time in a crate? I'm not too sure. Anyhow, when I got back he was held my the groomer and from what I could see he looked good. I grabbed him and carried him to the car and drove home. When I got home, as soon as he got out of the car, I noticed his belly was not shaved and didn't even appear to be trimmed, which is the first thing I would expect to be done when paying $52 for a full service groom plus condition. His hair on top was cut down to 1/3 the length it originally was, when I specified a LIGHT trim, and the hair on his sides and legs was left long for a "style" I suppose. I absolutely hate it, and with it being summer, he needs his lower hair trimmed to keep it out of the ants and bugs crawling around bc he's so low to the ground (little dog). Also, the pollen was making his hair really sticky and that's why he got the mats in the first place. I ended up having to retrain him myself and am out $45 after tax (I did use a $10 coupon). I have shopped at Petco many times in the past and have never had any issues. Like I said, the workers were very friendly. The story is very clean. But I will unfortunately not be returning for a groom. read more

We signed up for training classes with Christine for our 3 year old Greyhound. The Adult Level 1 class went so well that we took him back for his Canine Good Citizen Certification. Christine was very patient and gentle with him, took her time and made sure that everyone in class understood what we needed to work on and how to do it. I highly recommend Christine for training classes for dogs of all ages! read more
