My dog got banned from staying at Sit & Stay today. Anyone who has met my dog knows he's #1) super calm (lazy, to be honest) and #2) loving and gentle. He's overly affectionate and sweet, almost to a fault. Supposedly he was fighting with a dog through a fence and hurt an employee. (Why would an employee approach dogs if they were fighting, anyway? Common sense - you don't do that). They said this is the SECOND time, and that they "informed us at pick up" that he "bit an employee" during one of his recent stays. Uhhh, what? That literally never happened. He's been to multiple dog kennels and has always had great reports. He's never hurt or bit anyone in his life. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere he's called "extremely aggressive" and hurt employees twice? Nah. I'm not buying it. If they don't want him to stay there anymore for whatever reason, that's fine, but don't lie about him being aggressive and lie about having told us about him biting someone. Complete untruths. Its very interesting that Sit & Stay didn't pick up the phone and call us during either of these (supposed) acts of aggression. We've given thousands of dollars to this business this past year. Such a disappointment. If you're thinking of using Sit & Stay, definitely don't. read more

I messaged this place and told them I had 2 dogs that needed their nails cut, a bath, and the golden need to her hair cut. Once I arrived I was told they do not cut hair even though I told them that is what I wanted. I was heading out of town the next day so I let them bathe them and do their nails. It was $85 which I think is ridiculous, I do not pay much more for the golden cut and furminator on both dogs. I will not be going back. read more

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT We placed our two standard poodles there on December 8th 2018 for a one day over nighter. Before we did that we went down and talked to Lisa the new owner and her husband Troy. They spent a good time just talking to us about the facility and Lisa's background and philosophy on dog boarding. She has an extensive background in dog behavior training. She also managed a shelter in upstate New York for over ten years (I believe). We then were taken on a walk through the facility. The dog runs were clean. The dogs that were in the runs had clean water. The outside area is amazing. The dogs have people to play with. Lisa is all about stimulation for the dogs. You really need to see the facility to appreciate it. When we went to pickup our boys appeared to be just fine. She spent extra time with one of our boys who is a bit timid around strangers and you can tell she took it as a personal challenge to get him to relax. We will be going back and have even talked about bringing our boys down for day stays a couple of times a week. read more

We really like this place. Our Lab and Doxie came home so happy. The place never smells of anything but clean. The staff is friendly and sent photos when we asked. As for $$$ the rates are very good. SIT AND STAY IS THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL, UNRELIABLE AND FILTHY GROOMING FACILITY IN THIS AREA! I had heard good things about an employee (groomer) so I was optimistic. What a terrible letdown! (I have since found out this particular employee no longer works at this facility due to its questionable operations.) First impressions mean a great to me. And I was hesitant to get out of my vehicle. On our first scheduled appointment (scheduled month in advance due to my hectic work schedule), I arrived on-time to this rundown facility, only to be informed they had to cancel the appointment. "You couldn't have called me first?" I questioned, irritated I had used my limited PTO from work to facilitate this appointment. The owner responded with a series of excuses, saying she didn't have my number; however, I provided all of my personal information including phone number, email, shot records, etc. when setting up the appointment. Completely unacceptable and wildly unprofessional! Owner said she would attempt to arrange for an alternate groomer to provide services later in the day; however, I never received any response whatsoever. Always willing to give that second chance, I proactively called to schedule another appointment. Less than one hour prior to this second chance appointment, the owner called with yet another excuse for cancellation...and was less than apologetic about striking out two for two. If you were considering Sit and Stay...don't waste your time. I have never encountered such a level of unprofessional mismanagement and flakiness. Not to mention, the facility is in need of serious attention. (Maybe a blessing in disguise?) read more

I had a great experience here, my 2 dogs, Joe & Myrtle Jane could not have been happier, when I picked them up from daycare. I left them with a great staff, that went above and beyond, everything I asked for. I left toys, and meds, which were used and given as I instructed. I could not be more happier, totally recommend Sit and Stay for a great experience for your dogs. Lisa, the owner is an incredible, people person, went out of her way to oblige me with every request. I give this business 5 stars, wish I could give them 10, but 5 is all that is allowed! read more

I absolutely love this place! I left my three dogs here for four nights while my family traveled in the area. Two of my dogs are 14 years old and the other one is 1.5 years old. All LOVED their stay. The older dogs spent their days in a yard with other older dogs and the younger one played with a puppy. They were exhausted when they came home. The place is SPOTLESS! I walked through the dog boarding areas and couldn't believe how clean they are kept. Both times when I came, staff were cleaning towels, floors, etc. I called to check on my dogs a few times each day. The staff was always polite and gave me great updates on my dogs. My dogs are not easy to deal with, and the staff never complained. In fact, they told me wonderful things about them. They really put my mind at ease. I wish there was a similar place near where I lived. I'd take my dogs there for day care, boarding, grooming, etc. I know, however, that my family will make a point of visiting Myrtle Beach again because I got a vacation and my dogs had a fantastic time! read more

When we picked up our dogs they slept for hours, so they definitely had plenty of play time and room to move! They are both clean, happy girls! It's been a couple of weeks since I returned from my SC vacation and still feel the need to write a review. I live In VA, about a 9 hour drive. Numerous, numerous times I called and spoke with the owner, Shaun, about trying to get to his place by 3:00 on Saturday or be there when they opened up at 8 pm (some conversations is was 8 pm, some it was 7 pm, others is was around one of those times). He told me it would be better to be there at 8 pm and that someone would be there. He had my name, the dogs' names and shot records, and knew I would be there at 8 pm. (in hindsight, my only "error" was not calling from the road by 2 pm to confirm -- which Shaun never mentioned but I was told that by the unfortunate person having to return messages Sunday morning.) I was there at 7 pm and called the number thinking he would at least check his messages since he "lived on site" and knew a client was coming. and that someone would be there at least by 8 pm. I waited until 8:30 before leaving -- after leaving 3 other messages. I did not knock on the door of the house next to the kennel -- probably not home since he would have seen me walking the dogs all around the kennel and his yard. While sitting there, I read Yelp reviews of the place and didn't like what I was reading (his website has, obviously, only glowing reviews). At that point I figured I dodged a bullet by not leaving them. With no other alternative that night, I was going to spend the night with the dogs in the car at the resort where I was staying. Thankfully my sister who had driven up from Charleston to stay with us took the dogs back home with her that night. His late drop off service could be what sets him apart from other boarding facilities. It is such a shame the owner seems to be such a very poor manager and communicator with his staff. If he says he is the newest place on the Strand, I wonder how long he will last. You don't mess with pet owners and stay in business too long! read more

We were trying to board our small furry friend for a couple of days while on vacation in Myrtle Beach. We had not planned on it so we had not brougt his shot records. Troy went above and beyond to be helpful and informative. He made phone calls got the info and was able to let us know that the laws concerning IL and SC were different. After several attempts and calls we discovered that one of the required shots was a few days past due. He apolgize that he couldnt accept any animals not up to date with vacinations. Which is a wonderful thing to know. Troy was a great help in the end we were unable to board our lil guy but made an appt for his updates. Its comforting to know that his business has standards that they hold to and having never met us still took so much time to assist us and our pet. Next time in Myrtle Beach we need place to Board this is definitely the top of the list. Cant do a five because we never were able to use but the experience and Troy gave us all the confidence we needed to know it was a good choice. read more

I will never hesitate to leave my two angels in Troy's care at "Sit and Stay Awhile kennel." We owned our own kennel for over 22 years in upstate NY. One has to have compassion for the treasures put in ones care and sometimes more patience and compassion with their owners. It can be an emotional time leaving part of ones family in the care of someone else, I know, I am a culprit of this. Troy is so understanding when I call to check on them. Believe me the first time I checked Troy's Kennel out I was very impressed. We have a Border Terrier and a Doberman. When we lost our angel Blaide to bone cancer it was Troy who watched out for us and helped us find Raeven a rescue Doberman. She is now my therapy dog and a treasure, always so grateful to Troy. Never have any hesitation to leaving your angels with this compassionate man. read more

I used to take one of my pets there for grooming, last time I took him to be groomed I was called about an hour later letting me know Groomer would not be in, when I picked my dog up I was told that I would get a call when they got a replacement Groomer. A week later I called to find out and was told oh, yeah we did get a new Groomer, no calls no nothing.... ALSO. As of Friday may 27, I called beginning of week and ask if I could board my other dog there, about a 80 lbs American bull dog. I was told no problem by Ashley, all they needed was his vet records and he was scheduled for drop off Friday, pick up Monday 30th between 7-8pm. When my husband took him to drop off, at first he was told that they could not find his reservation, they looked and looked but they did have the fax form vet. Next the guy at sit and stay took our dog Tampa towards the back and was only gone what seemed like a second and came back out telling my husband that our dog lunged at another dog and was very aggressive. At that point he told my husband I will try him again and came back saying that he bit a cage trying to get to another dog. More and more was said, my husband left with our dog on disbelief! Tampa lives with a small dog, two small children and a cat, never ever has tried to hurt, bite nor act aggressive to either. He goes to dog parks and plays with great with both large and small dogs and people! Actually loves going to the vet at North Myrtle and Paws Inn kennel, since we were not going in that direction we decided to try Sit and Stay Awhile. Needless to say they really screwed up our plans by what we can only assume that they were incompetent in scheduling and did not have room for him and then had the nerve to blame our dog calling him aggressive. read more

The indifference of the staff was quite overwhelming! We were not greeted when we came in --- nor were we offered a tour. When we asked about a tour we got a smart-ass reply. All the dogs were out back in large run yards with many other dogs ---NO DOGS were in their kennels. When we walked our first dogs in, we tried telling them the dogs name and a little about their personalities and the staff just yanked the leads out of our hands and started walking them to the back area (THIS IS AFTER WE REQUESTED THAT OUR DOGS DO NOT BE PUT OUT WITH OTHER DOGS). My dogs are not aggressive ---however we like them to have their own space. The man (we were never introduced to any of the staff) -- put our dogs out back and then sent another worker in to say that my one dog attacked and bit the other dog on the nose. Let me say that we all know that a nose area bleeds uncontrollably for quite a long time. When my dogs were marched back out and thrown in a fenced in area in the lobby (all except the one that got bit....) until the lady went to go see what was wrong. They both came back with a story that my one dog bit the other. When they proceeded to bring my "hurt" dog back out I checked him up and down.....not one scratch mark! Imagine that!!!! Then they told us we couldn't stay. Now, I was very happy to leave especially when my wishes for my dogs to be put in runs so they could eat and not be put out with others was totally ignored --- the icing on the cake is when they said one dog bit another and there was not a scratch. What the lady pointed to was the scar on my dog's nose (which they would have been aware of if they would have greeted my dogs and listened to me explaining all their names and personalities). This dog was rescued from being a bait dog when it was a pup and is missing part of its nose and upper lip. These 2 staffers pointed to that and said my dog bit the other. I gladly left and WIL NEVER recommend any of my dog training folks, SAR folks or relatives to board with these unkind and indifferent people. I ended up at another facility that not only greeted my dogs, played with them, petted them and called them by name when they walked them to the back. There was no leash jerking there! After my experience, I heard that several dogs died the week before because these people keep the dogs out in the play yards all day and 2 died from not having enough water and being over-heated. My poor dog was INFESTED with fleas when I picked him up. He did not have fleas going in there, he's been on Trifexis for years. Supposedly he was given a bath but I couldn't see any signs of it being done other than the charges on my bill. The staff is rude and unprofessional. And even though the owners live in the house behind the office they lock up earlier than their posted closing times whenever they feel like it. Please go elsewhere!!!! read more

Do Not Take Your Pets to this place!! Boarded my 14 year old Daschund while I was on Vacation at Myrtle Beach. Picked her up 10 days later. On the drive home I noticed she was very anxious and afraid. Got home and gave her a treat on the floor and she wanted to pick it up but would only go so close and acted like she was reaching real low like under a fence which there was not and then pull back and give out a Yelp! This Dog was NEVER like that before she went to this so called kennell! I own a small Business with 11 employees and she had always went to the office with me everyday since she was a puppy. She was very Friendly and Sociable to everyone in the office. She developed a brain tumor a few months ago and has since passed away. I don't know if she was hit on the head numeious times or not but her treatment at Sit and Play Awhile did not help her Health! read more
