It was so important to us that our two pups be included on our big day, and Madeline made sure they were both included and so lovingly cared for. One of our pups is 15 years old and as anxious, adoring pawrents we were worried about her ability to navigate our wedding venue and the excitement of the day. Those worries quickly dissipated because Madeline cared for both our pups as if they were her own, and we effusively recommend Happy Bark & Tails to anyone who loves their pup and can't imagine their wedding day without them.

My now-husband and I were in the midst of planning our wedding when we decided to adopt our beautiful puppy, Oreo, and we wanted to ensure that he could be a part of our wedding. Thank goodness we found Happy Bark & Tails. From our first meeting, the owner, Madeline, was informative, and caring, gave us a clear idea of what to expect on our wedding day, and took the time to answer all our questions. Every step of the way, Madeline was patient, responsive, and put us at ease. We even scheduled a meet-and-greet a few weeks before the wedding with Madeline and her husband, Gabriel, who is also a co-owner of the business. We were certain that they would not only care for Oreo but treat him like their own baby. On the day of our wedding, Madeline and Gabriel arrived at our hotel and immediately took care of Oreo. They put on his cute "best dog" scarf and bow tie and handled him while my husband and I got ready for our wedding. They walked him, fed him, played with him, helped him pose for pictures with us, and treated Oreo like family. They transported him to the venue, took him back to our hotel, and stayed with him until we got back. We couldn't have asked for a better company or people to work with! They also documented our wedding day with photos from Oreo's perspective. The gallery of photos was beautiful and something we will cherish for the rest of our lives. I highly recommend Happy Bark & Tails for all your wedding pet care needs. They were great to work with and we have already recommended them to another couple!

He also explained how dogs look at people. Dukie's big problem was that he jumped on people when they entered the house, he is 145lbs and would knock people over. Milo had a real attitude problem he nipped. Within 2 hours he had changed the dogs attitudes, it was an amazing transformation. You can now walk into my house without being jumped on or nipped. Its still a work in progress but what an amazing difference. He has made our lives a lot easier. Thanks Keith. Great Value.

As first-time dog owners, we tried our best to train Millie on our own, but it just wasn't cutting it. We constantly struggled with obedience and her inability to listen to us, intense pulling when we went on walks, jumping, getting mouthy - the list goes on and on. We felt defeated and insecure - but as soon as we talked with Jean and Linda at NJ Fix My Dog, we felt hopeful! They assured us Millie was the kind of dog that could be helped, and they'd be happy to step in.  Throughout Millie's 2 week bootcamp, we received frequent updates from Linda on Millie's progress, photos, and videos. We missed her but we knew she was in excellent care and learning so much everyday. After the 2 week bootcamp, Linda brought Millie home and we were in shock at how well-behaved, and well-mannered suddenly became. The day she came home, Linda spent over an hour with us going over what Millie learned and how to work with her going forward. She also gave us a full document with an assessment of Millie's overall behavior, how to continue to enforce what she learned, and how encourage her along the way.  Before bootcamp, we dreaded going for a walk with Millie because of how she behaved when she saw other dogs (pulling toward them, whimpering, getting anxious, etc.), and how she walked in general (tugging and zig-zagging the entire walk). Now she walks like an absolute DREAM! Right at our side, a nice little trot, ignores other dogs, people, squirrels - everything! We could walk her all day long now, and we look forward to all our walks! Millie used to ignore us when we called for her, or told her "no" if she was doing something we didn't like, but now her recall skills are excellent and she runs right over to us when we call her. She doesn't even try to attempt the bad behavior she used to do, like jumping, getting mouthy, etc., and instead happily relaxes. Her overall demeanor used to be just a little bit intense, always on the lookout for something to get into - but now she is so calm and seems at east with herself. Linda worked WONDERS! We learned so much about Millie through this process, and we truly feel comfortable with what Linda taught us to help Millie be her best self. We feel like we have the tools we need, and the confidence. We feel the support of NJ Fix My Dog now even after Millie is back home - we know Linda is just a call or text away if we need any help.

We were seeking some help with our 13 week old Lab mix puppy's aggressive play issues…read more(nipping/biting) and other behavioral issues (walking well on leash, not dropping items off floor, ground, etc.). We were fully aware of what a puppy goes through at this age, however, we had never seen a puppy so independent/head strong before. Given we have two young daughters (9 & 5), we wanted to ensure our puppy established a solid behavior foundation. We found Jean & Fix My Dog after unsuccessfully working with a few different trainers online. Within the first 30 minutes of our session with Jean, we had already learned so much about both our new puppy's and our own behaviors. After the hour was over, we were very confident we had found the right place to help us with our puppy training. Given the current pandemic, we hoped to find a trainer that could not only help with the behavioral issues, but also socialize our pup well enough to other dogs, people, children, etc. As a result, Jean paired us up with Christy, a trainer who lives on a lot of land, has dogs and other animals, and plenty of people around to help socialize our pup. We spoke with Christy on the phone to go over her approach, felt great about it, came up with a list of behavioral focus areas, signed a contract, selected a day for Christy to come pick up our puppy, and off she went for 2 weeks! The training process was handled so well.. Christy kept us informed with photos, videos, and lots of daily updates. We were even able to do a few online video sessions to see our puppy and to ask questions about how the training was going. It was 100% clear that our puppy was getting the attention she needed and was being trained as part of a family and not as just another dog in a training facility. (SO IMPORTANT!) We were noticing tremendous progress with our puppy over videos after the first few days of training. When she returned home after the 2 weeks were up, it was almost as if we had a perfectly re-wired puppy. It was absolutely clear that the training was effective and our puppy now had a solid behavioral foundation to work with. Christy and her family were extremely loving with our dog, and were clearly able to address all of the behavioral points we asked for through positive reinforcement and appropriate correction practices. Upon her return, we received many instructional videos and a manual to keep us (owners) in line on how to maintain all of the great work put in place. If you were like us, seeking a trainer to help build a strong behavioral foundation for your puppy, I would HIGHLY recommend Christy @ NJ Fix My Dog. We simply could not have found a better situation both for us and our puppy.

This review is based on a first time grooming experience with the petsmart store number: 2144 in east Brunswick New Jersey. My boyfriend has a yorkie dog. The most handsome boy ever! He usually brings our little fur boy to a private groomer. This has been the normal since he was a puppy. This dog is rather used to his grooms. Unfortunately our usual groomer could not see him until a much later date. This wasn't great is he was quite bushy and long haired. My boyfriend's sister takes her very large goldendoodle dog to petsmart for his grooms. Not sure of the location that she goes to. However she has always had pleasant experiences with her furboy's grooms. As my boyfriend was in a bind with our little one, he decided to try out the petsmart grooming services. He figured his sister always has great experiences, so why should it be any different if he brings our dog to pet smart for the grooming services. It all goes downhill from here however... My boyfriend had scheduled his groom appointment for 10am. The person scheduling was polite and friendly. Ok very good. Now comes the day of the appointment. He understood that the appointment was for 10am. He did get there half hour early. He said he would see if they could take him if they had no other animals that they were working on. He went in with our dog. Employee told him it was ok. All right not bad so far! He decided to stay close by and wait for the phone call to pick him up. We know typically a groom is 45 mins to an hour depending. My boyfriend was confident, as the employee did not state or mention any current animals that they were working in or how many were ahead of our dog. Ok, he waits, and he waits, and he waits some more. Now we're coming up to almost 11:20 am. More than enough time has elapsed. Since there was no mention of any other animals or how many ahead, our dog should have been completed with his groom appointment, right? However there was no phone call, no update, no nothing! Concerned at this point, my boyfriend goes inside to find out if everything is ok with our dog. To his surprise, the employee stated that there were 3 dogs ahead of him that morning. That there were only two groomers working at the time. Um, okay...why then was this not mentioned in the beginning of the appointment?! Why was this important tidbit of info left out for? On top of that, our dog was obviously still not completely done. Why weren't they forthcoming and honest from the start? Annoying! Moreover so, because my boyfriend works overnight shifts! He thought this groom would have been done professionally and punctually as our usual groomer completes it. Not the case. He is besides himself at this point. Frustrated, exhausted, and aggravated that nobody was truthful. More time has elapsed at this point. This is absolutely rediculous honestly. Boyfriend finally gets the phone call to come pick him up, and finally was able to pick him up around 12:15 pm. Now, he was there for nail trimming, a bath, a cut, and blow dry. Typical groom! The groom job was terrible!!!! So many uneven pieces of hair everywhere! His face and ears especially not even. Looks like they barely touched his body. Typically out of his groom appointments with the private groom he looks and smells amazing! He looks quite dapper and so handsome! This time, terrible. I get that sometimes people are fairly new to grooming and many not have as much experience with grooming or animals. Honestly this should be listed! And the nonsense with the appointment times and punctuality. Why? Not honest with the times, and lackluster of a job with his groom and bath. He smells of nothing! What was even used!??? Did they even friggen bathe him!? We have used this service for the first...and absolutely LAST TIME EVER! Very unprofessional behavior! Such a sour taste from this experience, we will never use these services again.

From the start, Chris Carr was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly dedicated to helping both dogs and their families. When we picked him up, Chris spent a full hour training my son and me, making sure we understood how to maintain the progress at home. Since returning, Buster has been a completely different dog -- calmer, more focused, and so much more enjoyable to be around. We've even had friends and neighbors compliment his improved leash manners and overall behavior. Chris truly gave us the tools and confidence we needed to bring out the best in Buster, and we couldn't be more grateful. If you're considering a training program, I can't recommend Chris Carr and Strong House Training Center enough!

We had to spend 5 minutes just to load him into our car and would have to lift him in. When on a leash he would pull either pull or just lay down. Within 5 minutes Chris had him walking without pulling on a leash and got him to voluntarily jump in the back of our SUV! Chris walked us through his training process, the commands he would teach based upon our feedback of areas we wanted addressed as priority. The hardest part was waiting to the the results but as the saying goes good thing come to those who wait! The dog we picked up no longer jumped upon greeting, walked on a leash and was overall a much better behaved animal. Chris walked us through the training, gave recommendation and welcomed us to contact him with any questions or concerns. I would like to say the key takeaway which Chris stressed and I'll attest to is reinforcing the training; especially with a dog like Figgy who prior was allowed to let his bad behavior be considered acceptable. We ended up getting sick shortly after bring Figgy home and within a few day some of the bad behavior started to surface. Once we were able to get back to daily reinforcing his training from Chris he settled right back in to being the dog we knew he could be and Chris helped bring out. We are 100% satisfied with the results from Stronghaus and would highly recommend. Are the results worth it if you are willing to put in the work and stick with the training; 1000% yes! Chris showed us how to act as Figgy's leader, alleviating him from acting on bad behavior and being a dog who is now as laid back as can be and loving his new life. Worth every penny!

She hurt our dog by repeatedly trying to rip a comb, root-to-tip, through his matted coat -- my pup was in obvious pain as she did this. Her point was to show us how matted he was, to justify a de-matting fee. We already told her our dog was matted and agreed to the de-matting fee, so there was no need to belabor it. Also, of course you can't pull a comb root-to-tip through a matted poodle coat -- you're supposed to de-mat tip-to-root using a brush. In my book, hurting an animal to prove a point is sick, and it probably means Tina shouldn't be trusted to handle animals for a living. In the midst of lecturing us, Tina asked what we were using to brush him at home -- her tone made it seem like she doubted we were brushing him at all. We told her, as we've told every groomer before her, we use a slicker brush for the most part. She loudly condescended, "That's garbage! You're not gonna get any mats out with that" and told us we should be using a comb instead. Based on six years of caring for a poodle mix, I was certain this was not correct. My mother is a dog groomer who owned and operated a grooming salon, and she, along with every salon we've taken our poodle to, has confirmed we're using the best brush for him. Every search result on the topic concurs that a slicker brush is the most fundamental tool to care for a poodle's coat; a comb is a finishing tool, not for de-matting. Not wanting to argue publicly with a professional over her presumed subject matter expertise, we smiled and nodded until she finally took our pup back for grooming. His haircut came out fine, but I have to wonder -- when we left, did Tina de-mat his coat correctly using a brush or incorrectly using a comb? If the former, Tina knowingly gave us incorrect information. If the latter, she caused our dog unnecessary pain due to her ignorance. Neither possibility is acceptable. My partner and I are working professionals, experienced dog parents, and new homeowners. Our poodle is not typically matted; he was matted because we've been overwhelmingly busy buying, renovating, and moving into a home and have simply not had the time we normally do to brush him. Now that our lives have calmed again, we will resume our at-home grooming routine. There was no need to lecture or condescend to us, and certainly not to promote disinformation about how to take care of our dog. This is the main issue that concerns me about Tina and why we aren't comfortable with her grooming our dogs. However, a couple of other things happened that are worth noting, since they help paint a picture of how Tina seems to be. One of the first things she asked was why our schnauzer mix had a muzzle on. Her tone was combative right out of the gate, but the question was more than fair, so we readily told her we keep our pup muzzled in public because she has bitten a couple of times. Tina didn't ask for further details and barked at me to take the muzzle off. I was shocked she had barked an order at me and confused as to why I needed to take the muzzle off right now when I could just remove it along with her other gear in a few minutes. Turns out, there was no reason to bark at me to take the muzzle off - no reason other than to antagonize and condescend. Tina also insisted obsessively during check-in "This is NOT a miniature poodle!" I thought, "I know, that's why I filled out the form stating he's a 27-lb mini-poodle MIX." Ignoring her unpleasantness, we simply told her that the rescue said he's a poodle-Bedlington mix. She continued, "He's way too big for a mini-poodle, he's definitely a Bichon." At this point, we were confused as to why this lady was so bent on us being wrong. Why did she think it was impossible for a mini-poodle mix to be slightly larger than a purebred mini-poodle? He certainly isn't a standard poodle or a toy poodle. Ultimately, he's a mixed-breed rescue dog, so no one knows what breeds he is. Tina abruptly ended the seemingly pointless disagreement by stating aggressively, "Well in my system he's a cockapoo, so the price for his bath and brush is going to be higher." Once I understood the point of her insistence - to charge a higher price - her aggression made it seem like she thought we were trying to get a lower price by misrepreseting his breed. Not in the slightest; he's been to six different grooming salons since we've had him, and he's probably seen 12-15 individual groomers. We've told all of them that he's a 27-lb mini-poodle mix, and it's never been an issue until we met Tina. I hope that going out of her way to proactively undermine and dismantle her clients' good grooming practices in order to instead promote disinformation about caring for animals would disqualify Tina from managing a PetSmart salon.
