I put a lot of thought into choosing a trainer. I read up on the different methods and…read moreorganizations out there. I figured this isn't something you want to half ass, your dog's welfare depends on this kind of thing. I spoke with many different trainers about their education, experience and affiliations before I found Anna. We spoke on the phone and she told me about her education (studied at a university in Canada), her experience (over a decade training dogs even though she looks kinda young), and her affiliations, (APDT, Pet Professionals Guild and AKC CGC certified). I was pretty intrigued at this point so I asked her about her methods, she told me that she's a "fan of the clicker" and then right off the bat told me how it works and what studies have been done on it. Since I didn't ask her for that information, I was pretty impressed that she volunteered it. Girl after my own heart. We arranged a meeting so she could do an assessment, which she assured me was free. When she arrived at my place a week later, I was a little skeptical, she's as skinny as a reed and looks like a stiff breeze would blow her over. I have an American Staffordshire Terrier who weighed 60lbs, I thought there would be no way she could handle her. When I mentioned my concerns (I phrased it more politely than I just put it, of course) she told me "no worries." She said that "real leaders lead from behind." And that "anytime you find yourself using force against a dog, your doing it wrong." I don't know why, but that stuck with me. Cut to 4 weeks later and Peewee is doing great! She had a lot of energy and wanted to play with everyone. She was a regular at doggy daycare and never had any issues or reactivity. Everyone loved her. We worked on basic commands at home, but leash pulling and distractions were an issue. After reading reviews and the 100% guarantee spiel, we dropped our girl off with high hopes. I emailed to check in on Zura, we were told we would get updates daily, and I do not feel the trainer was very professional. Several times he sounded too busy, or was out doing other things. 2 long weeks later, we picked up our pup and I was shocked. She was extremely underweight and came home acting off. She seemed nervous and unsettled. The trainer sent snippets of videos everyday and I asked what our dog was doing the rest of the time, I never got a response. My husband reached out to the trainer and the owner and they gave this speech about her adjusting and being consistent. The day after she came home, my husband took her on walk and she freaked out. She was screaming and was super anxious. Naturally we contacted the owner and at first she was extremely condensing and unprofessional. She yelled at me and implied I didn't know what I was talking about. I have actively rescued and rehabilitated dogs for the past 20 years. This is the first time I had ever outsourced training due to health issues. After a heated conversation she decided that "She wasn't happy with our dogs board and train and she would like to take her for a week". JoAnne had our dog for 4 days. Our dog came home with welts on her neck (both sides) from the shock collar and a scab on her back leg. We took her to the vet and she stated that it looked like our pet had been mistreated. Our dog seemed very high strung and agitated. I would take the ecollar off at night or when she was in her kennel, and she was very reluctant and skittish when I tried to put it back on. The trainer told my husband if our dog wasn't listening to turn up the number on the ecollar. It didn't work, it just made our dog panic. When we first started training, we asked about the ecollar and how high it got. They said it was like a tens unit, and didn't hurt them. That is not true. They turn it up very high and told us to do the same. Our dog left to the board and train a goofy puppy and came back extremely fearful and anxious. Our dog had been crate trained since she was 10 weeks old. After her board and train, she started screaming in the crate, and digging at her bed. She also had several accidents in the crate, she had never displayed that behavior before. My heart was broken for our girl. I reached out to a K9 Behavioral Specialist and after assessing our dog, they agreed that our dog had been mistreated. She associated the ecollar with punishments' rather than positive reinforcement. This place does not care about the wellbeing of your dog, they care about money. It is a franchise, and perhaps they have some locations and trainers who actually know what they are doing, but not here. After everything, there was zero chance we were taking our dog back to them and expressed this to Bryan and JoAnne, she stated "your dog will never be off leash, your are going to have to accept that." I challenged the 100% guarantee and requested a refund. We never heard from them again. The guarantee is not real. They never apologized or showed any concern or empathy for our dog. I have several videos that they provided while she was at training that are uncomfortable to watch. They try to conceal the shocker in their hand while filming, but if you pay close attention, you could tell our dog was constantly being shocked to comply. Please take your pet elsewhere. We called Franck after a year of having some issues with our Beagle related to aggression. It was…read morenever super serious, and since we had some light aggression training in the past, we thought we could handle it on our own. We ended up getting a puppy at the end of 2023 and the aggression issues escalated, sometimes involving the new puppy. We called Franck for the aggression issues and ultimately decided to do full on Level 1 obedience training with him. From the get-go, Franck had complete control of our dogs. During our initial meeting/evaluation, they were complicit in his instructions. It was honestly super impressive - akin to folks you see on TV and how the TV show dramatizes their ability to immediately control an animal. This was the real deal. About a month or so into our training, we had another aggression issue, while it wasn't terribly serious, and we intervened quickly, Franck decided it was best for the dogs to go home with him for a few weeks. We were totally on board - we weren't sure if we had the skills yet to do it ourselves - but we knew he could do it. Within a week we saw a huge change in the dogs in videos he sent us, not only their obedience training, but there was absolutely no aggression with food or otherwise. Franck was also extremely available to answer any questions we had, whenever we had them. That was such a help that we could easily reach out to him whenever we needed assistance. In short, our dogs are impressively obedient now. By far, the best trained dogs I have ever had. Our beagle actually comes to us, when called, with no drama. This dog could not give a crap that we'd call her if she was out in the yard prior to her training. Now, she will come within seconds of us calling her. Both of our dogs are very well potty trained now. Our puppy is a golden retriever, so she has genes that help her with obedience built right in, and she is freaking awesome to work with now, even at just 7 months old. Franck's methods are well researched and backed by a lot of thought and just made sense to us. They're also not difficult - you just need the time and patience to learn and make it happen. Franck is no-nonsense, full of information, has been doing this for a long time, and he was such a pleasure to work with. He was fantastic with both our kids as well as our pups and we couldn't recommend him more!

I've only seen her become more trusting and loving. She's basically a Velcro dog at this point. Lol! Getting her properly trained at such a young age was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I can't tell you how many times I've been complimented on how well behaved she is...ESPECIALLY for a toy size breed. I can take her anywhere because she's so well behaved and sweet.
