the grooming salon is the worst i have ever been to. The African American female groomer acts like a "diva" and steamrolls the manager over what she likes or doesn't like to do. When i dropped off my pet for a grooming appointment she barked at me with the words: "you are too early....this is not a boarding facility!" and it wasn't even that early.....there was only one dog in and plenty of empty kennels and she could have put my pet in there until it was his turn. Instead, she had a terrible attitude and was very nasty and unprofessional...My question is: does the store care about these groomers running customers away? i called the manager over and she was complaining to her and had a very unprofessional attitude. I have never once had an issue prior to this incident and after the exchange and lack of professionalism and reasoning - i will never spend my energy and money going there again.....there are plenty of other pet friendly stores that are nicer, more professional and accommodating...no need to put up with that nonsense!!! read more

Literally, if I can give negative reviews I would, and I was so mad that I didn't see my dog before I paid and tipped. Where do I even start? Before I start anything I must say both of my dogs are maltipoos my older dog Lucky has curly hair and my younger dog Charms has wavy/straight hair Erin cut my dog lucky and charms. In regards to Charms this was his first haircut, and I am very understanding since he is a puppy it could be difficult, but the only thing that was trimmed on him is his eyes and his paws he literally did not receive a haircut at all his nails are actually still sharp, so I don't even believe they trim his nails or did they brush his teeth even though I paid for that When I arrived, I advised him of how I would like Luckys hair to be cut. I just wanted a teddy bear face and for him to remain as fluffy as possible, because he had no mats and his hair was at a good length. I also asked for his paws to stay fluffy. For the teeth to be brush and nails to be buffed. She stated that Lucky bit her and apparently that's why she couldn't finish his face. I have had Lucky since he was 8 weeks he is now 9 years old and he has been groomed numerous of times and he has never bitten any groomers and he does get groomed regularly so I knew something had to be wrong in order for him to bite her. But regardless of her stating lucky, bid her, he was cut completely wrong. Literally, they trimmed off all of his hair. And his stomach isnt trimmed evenly. She stated that they use what I requested but she didn't When I came to pick up my dogs, she did not acknowledge me she had someone else assist me, which I found weird in additional she cut off all my dogs hair and left his face simply blown out and a butchered beard. I asked them to cut his ears. They didn't do it. I end up having to finish cutting his face myself. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I tried to exchange a collar that was too big for my dog. I didn't bring it back right away bc I was waiting until we needed more food to make it worth the trip. They said it was 2 days past their "new 30 day policy." The collar was not even taken off the cardboard and still attached. They refused to let me exchange it anyway. We spend over $500/month at Petco. When I told them we'll just have to start going to Petsmart, the "manager" replied, "Ok." Horrible people skills and customer service is an understatement! Had a great experience at the vetco total care. The receptionist was so welcoming and kind. The vet assistant was so helpful and super sweet. Dr. King was amazing! She was so compassionate and understanding and you can tell she truly cares about your pet and wants the very best for them. I would give negative stars if I could. I dropped my miniature schnauzer off to be groomed at 1:30. When I came back at 4:45 (over 3 hours later) she was bathed only - hasn't even been started. The groomer was EXTREMELY RUDE and said they have to do other dogs first etc. which obviously I know but don't give me a 1:30 apt if you are going to keep my dog in a kennel for 3 hours!! I will never go back here and probably won't even do my shopping at petco anymore either because of the way they treated me and my girl. I then talked to the manager and she said they have an option for $10 more to have them "zoom groomed" or something - would have GLADLY done that if they offered. They have no consideration for your appointments. This is a terrible place to take your furry family member. I set an appointment for 8am to get my dog groomed and bathed. I was told it would be 3-4 hours and I would get a call. Come noon time, no phone call so I figured they wrote my number down incorrectly. When I got there at 12:40pm, there was nobody manning the front desk of the grooming station. After waiting 10 minutes, I finally went to the cashier to ask for assistance. Five minutes later, the attendant finally came to tell me my dog was not ready and could not give me an approximate time. I was so mad!! Not only because of the way she said it but also because they didn't even bother to give me a courtesy call. My dog had been sitting in a kettle for over 2 hours. I was so mad! No stars if I could, I'm disgusted by how my dog was treated by the Vetco clinic specifically by Dr. Julia Rodriguez. I took my dog in to be seen for an irritated paw. Dr. Rodriguez gave me meds, wrapped his wound and my dog and I went home. However, she wanted to schedule a follow up appointment for the removal of the bandage. I was unable to take my dog, so I asked my father to. I was kept updated throughout the entire appointment. I was even on speaker phone and got to hear the instructions myself. Everything up to this point was fine. Dr. Rodriguez then told my father that they did not have a cone in my dogs size (medium), but assured him that a large cone would fit fine. Knowing the large cone did not fit, she put it on my dog and wrapped rolled gauze around his neck twice. She made a large cone "fit", then we still were charged for a cone that was too big. It gets better, just wait. My father proceeds to pay, he and my dog leave Petco and get in the car. My father is consistently petting my dog in the car and noticed my dog is not engaging like he normally does. My father assumed he was lethargic due to the meds, until he noticed he couldn't fit his finger between my dogs neck and the cone. My father quickly pulled over on the side of the freeway and realized my dog was actively choking to death. He had no air circulation and was not breathing. My father took the cone off and started to shake my dog to wake him up. My dog became alert and was traumatized. You can only imagine the kind of emotions we were all dealing with, after receiving a call from my father about the incident I was furious. As soon as my father got home, he called the Vetco clinic and was explaining the ignorance Dr. Rodriguez has. My father was promised a call from Dr. Rodriguez's supervisor the next day and never received one. My father took the initiative and reached out again, to be expected they were no help. I write this with a heavy heart, if you love your pet DO NOT trust them with Dr. Julia Rodriguez. My dog is traumatized and he is not his normal, cheery, happy self. It pains me to see him so sad and hesitant about everything now. The guinea pigs were in such small enclosures that they could barely turne. And there were too many guinea pigs in this way too small of an enclosure to consider it a living space for them. Even if it is a temporary enclosure. They could barely move. One of them was sleeping in their shared food bowl as its choice for a bed. When the guinea pig left its food bowl it was using as a bed, there was no food in there. Only excrement. As well as no hay, to the point a Guinea pig was eating its bedding for food. Both Guinea pig enclosures were in this condition. This is animal neglect/abuse. Neither Guinea pig enclosure had hay or pellets and one of the guinea pig enclosure for one of their water bottles it was completely empty. I felt I had to buy all the Guinea pigs due to their very sad, worry some state for an enclosure they were being kept in. I enforced a worker they needed hay, pellets and water. I can only hope they give to the poor guinepigs. Just absolutely disgusting for these poor creatures that can do absolutely nothing about it to be treated this way... read more

This Petco is amazing, the associate Derek was very knowledgeable regarding my pets food , clothing , beds and also talked about parvo and how it can live in your front yard if contaminated for up to 10 years!! I didn't know that. I thought it was 6 months and if that happens you can't have a puppy!, it can die. So to prevent this bring them to your nearest petco that has a vet, this one does , it has a vet called "thrive affordable pet clinic" and it's amazing! Services are affordable for what you get like head to tail visit is $15! they tell you if your pet has heart murmur or hernia , as well as ear mites and much more, shots are separate for example a puppy package is $59 includes shots , preventative for fleas , heartworm , deworming and more. Nail clipping is extra. They have cat vaccinations as well different packages . Adult pets are $99 plus $15 for visit. The staff at this petco was amazing ! If you need excellent customer service and even have them walk you to your car ask for Derek, He's the best. This store is pretty big , has lots of different types of foods , it doesn't smell and there's lots of parking outside and a grooming salon inside. I would be careful with a new puppy dont let him walk in any pet store until he has his 2 sets of parvo shots. Just an FYI. read more

Tuesday before I drove an hour to Petco I called to confirm manager was there. Savannah gave me a hard time on the phone, just to confirm my question not Request. I arrived asked to speak to manager. I only go to Petco because PetSmart doesn't carry the grain free dog food I buy. Every time I get here it reminds me of why I don't use this store for anything but the dogs food. There is never anyone on the floor and on the rare occasion there is, they never say hi or ask if I need help. The other day when I went in, there were two people checking, a miracle in itself. We bought 35 minnows Wednesday night. Once we got home not even 30 mins all the dishes were DEAD in the BAG. We took a picture of it and threw the bag away. We didn't call on Thursday because it was thanksgiving. On Friday morning, I called to complain and the "manager" told us to bring the dead fishes back to sample the water even though we didn't even open the bag. This was a first time grooming experience at this location, I probably won't go to a Petco again. After the fact, I was told this particular location is lousy and the 360 location is far better. At arrival, my 8 year dog was acting strange, which I stated, but assumed they knew how to handle dogs. I know nothing about dog grooming, but if a 20lb dog is frightened to the point 3 people are holding him down, I would think that's a clue to back off and call the pet owner. (Guess I should've got a clue myself) Instead I was called upon completion to tell me they didn't do a "good job" and advised to take him to his vet for subsequent grooming because they cannot sedate him. Being 8, this was not his first rodeo and we've never had an issue. I think this situation could've been handled with slightly more professionalism. I did not complain, ask for a discount, or create drama, but did ask why I wasn't phoned until afterward to which I got no answer. Had my German Shepard get the full treatment. The staff advised me that it would take at least two hours. I waited for my dog and it wasn't even close to the time expected. The staff commented that my dog was cooperative and they were able to do the grooming without incident. The comment was that most dogs have various issues that cause the grooming to take on so long. Don't bother going to this location if you want a healthy pet and employees who know what they are doing. Even the "manager" Micheal is clueless and just after your money. We wanted to buy fish and the employees didn't know anything about the fish, we even over heard them giving incorrect information to other customers. That should of been a clue but we have grown used to knowing more about the fish than the people at the pet stores. We also wanted to get a veiled chameleon since they were on sale. I've had one most of my life so I know what they look like and how to care for them. They were priced at $49.99 and were on sale for 50% off. When we got to the register they rang it up as a different chameleon and tried to charge us $150! There was NO price tag with that price over there but Micheal was adamant that was the correct price and would not do anything to correct their error. He just shrugged his shoulders like "oh well" and charged us the $150. We didn't pay because that is not good business practice. We have not had a problem here. I saw some bad reviews, but our experiences have not come close. The personnel on the floor have helped us or offered to help else every time we have gone. We go to get pet supplies most of the time, but sometimes the kids just want to go look at the aquariums, the birds, or the pocket pets. The lady that works with the pocket pets actually took some guinea pigs out so my kids could pet them. She talked about the about them. I thought the staff there was quite helpful and friendly. They have the type of pet food there, but Blue Buffalo is in in a lot of petstores. read more

I used to love this store...big selection and they always promote animals up for adoption. But do not buy your rodents from Petco. They are not properly taken care of. I know that the rats there are usually there for snake food but they should still live healthy lives until their unfortunate fate comes. I bought a sweet little girl as a pet. The moment I got her home I discovered she had an upper respiratory track infection. They offer to either return your money, exchange for a healthy rat or treat the rat themselves. If you have already fallen in love with your rodents, do not hand your rodent over if you ever want to see them again. They will most likely be thrown back in the tank or euthanized. They will not cover vet costs even if you use their vet. All of their sick animals must go at the same time. So I said I would keep my rat and personally escort her to their vet when the other animals went. Turns out that would have been over a week. IF they had truly planned to treat my rat, she would have died waiting for treatment. Luckily I already had a script for a sick rat that I filled for almost $40. I can only imagine the cost it would have been if my vet had to see her. So my $8 rat ended up costing me $40 plus I had to buy baby food since she became lethargic and medicate her twice a day. I keep a heating pad under her cage and try not to handle her much (which breaks both of our hearts) because the congestion in her lungs gets worse. Thank God I saved her but if she's sick I'm sure the others are sick and will die a slow painful death. Or for any of you snake owners you will be feeding sick rats to your snake. Your policy sucks Petco. You should have a vet you can call that will simply prescribe the medicine your sick animals need. I've heard of other pet stores doing it this way. This rat was just business to you but to me it is a loved pet that I'm fighting hard to make well with no help from you guys. read more
