I took my Maltese to have her groomed. I explained in detailed to the groomer how I wanted her hair cut, especially her face. Updating my review due to recent shopping. I came by a few days ago as I needed some supplies... things like a water dish, litter box, blanket and a cardboard carrier for a cat. About a week ago, a stray cat starting staying at the doorway to my house. She looked hungry and I started feeding her as it seemed she was homeless. I asked around the neighborhood to see if she was lost and no she wasn't. I came by needing these supplies as i intended to rescue her and give her a good home. I came by, and got most of the items I needed. They did not have a cardboard carrier as they had run out. A store employee, Natacha, was very helpful. She assisted me in helping me find the items I needed in the store. She also recommended services I could use from the ASPCA to help with the cat. She genuinely was so passionate about helping me out with this. Sadly, I wasn't able to successfully rescue the cat as she was too feral. She didn't take to kindly to being put into the carrier I later bought at a different Petco. She actually was able to break they it and escape. Kinda bummed out about it, but doesn't change the fact that this Petco at least helped me make the effort. read more

I can't lie, they handled my dog great and I did like her haircut. However, I did not like how it took over 4 hours and was charged extra fees without being told. Online the price was $52. I ended up paying $80... I don't think it's fair how we're not told that there will be up-charges. They definitely should communicate that. read more

Best Petco in the area. I buy all of my animals food here. Always clean and the employees are very welcoming. Cashiers move pretty quick even when the store is packed. Highly recommend their dog training service. My dogs were difficult but the training helped a lot. They charge .10 per plastic bag but what do you expect when costs are going up everywhere. read more

They have the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. The employees can't provide details of the merchandise and when you ask for help they just bounce you around between employees. I took my 6 lb chihuahua for a bath, nail trim, etc. that was advertised as the Essential, for $24. They charged me 59.99, I told them why I was charged so much and the female groomer told me everything was more expensive now. Will never recommend Petco. read more

I have no choice but to give this location one star when they deserve zero. I bought two Leopard Gekos from this store, and it's been a nightmare to get consistent food for my lizards at this location. They are always out of stock, and when they do have the food packages, they contain dead insects. It's very disappointing. I have called customer service several times. I have been desperate at times, paying full price for items that contain dead worms just to feed my lizards what little live worms that remain. They should not be selling lizard if they can not meet the needs of the community when it comes to feeding them. I will definitely use another store for my pets needs. This includes my other pets. I will be discouraging my family friends from buying here too. Even if it means making the trip myself to other stores to get their pets' food. read more

I took my dog to get groomed here since my original groomer was book. I got a call the day before my 4:45pm appointment to come at 4 I explained that I get off work at 3:30 I need to stop home to get her then drop her off maybe I can get there at 4:15pm the person continue to push and say " so 4pm) God forbid I get in an accident because you are rushing me to get there 45 min before my time! Probably because they want to go home early on a Friday! I had to drop my dog off at my parents who live two minutes from Petco before going to work just to try to make it at the time they are requesting for me to go before my appointment time. All this just because my private groomer was booked and I got this type of service the day before my pets 11 birthday it was so stressful Jessica R groomed my dog. Jessica R is passive aggressive rude when she speaks. All I responded to her rude tone was okay, okay. I haven't been to this Petco in yearssss. My dog is an 11 year old Westie and has lots of experience being groomed. She wanted to say my dog was matted "probably to charge me" when my dog gets groomed every month and I comb her pretty often no way she would be matted to level she tried to say. Then I was there early to view my dog from the window getting groomed. I guess my pet was so nervous and anxious with Jessica R she pooped on herself and with an attitude she comes out to give me like ten complaints about my dog and says now she has to bathe her all over again and that she makes it hard because she doesn't like the blow dryer. At this point I felt there is no need to explain myself or reason with a rude employee who expresses herself unprofessional. I simply told her I'll wait until your done. She walk off and you can tell her body language was rude. When I came home my pet was limping!!!!! From her front leg and back leg!!!! I was mortified to think how hard she may have grabbed her senior legs. Luckily my sister is a vet assistant at an emergency hospital and got me anti inflammatory to help with any pain or discomfort she got from her grooming from Jessica R ( I have the video of her limping) I called but Petco was closed. The next day was sept 18 was her birthday party and luckily with the meds her leg is doing better I understand I was the last groom of the day and you may have been tired but that's your job! Try to comfort nervous dogs. Which is very odd for a dog that gets groomed every month to be nervous with this one person! Makes me really think.... The cut was done nicely but the service and the way she talks is unprofessional the three star is for the cut and lost of two stars for treating my pet the way you did. I will not be taking my pet there. Never the less with Jessica R I've never had any service like the one I did. read more

Horrible employees are not trained the right way. They seem to just be scattered around sometimes you wait in line forever. I bought a gift card for a friend that was out of state when she received it it had no funds, so I am out my money and I had thrown away the receipt shame on me, but I will never buy here again and now that you have to pay for bags I'd rather go to Publix. I don't like writing reviews, but I had to write this one. I took my dog to get groomed yesterday at the Petco on Cambells Dr in the plaza with target. I took him there last year August to have the same thing done yesterday that was done last year, sad to say the job that was done last year was great and the one from yesterday was horrible. Same service different groomer. I called to complain and try to get them to fix it, but all I got was double talk and denial and I was told that I was speaking to the store manager, and he tried to act like he didn't know what services came with the price that I paid, so he tried to tell me that I basically paid $51. dollars just to have my dog get a bath and it doesn't come with any haircut. Now my question to him was why I would pay that kind of money just to have my dog get a bath when I bathe him at home myself and the only time, I bring him to be groomed is when he needs a haircut because I can't cut his hair myself. He seemed annoyed at what I was explaining to him and told me to bring him back and if they decide that the job wasn't done properly then they would fix it. Now my question would be why would I take him back there if he cannot tell me that they would fix it, so they can try to charge me more money? I just told him never mind I'll just try to find a different groomer. That store is so unprofessional when dealing with their customers. I will never visit there store ever again. i am glad that I found this out now because I was going to invest in their pet plan. read more

This store is so nice. This location always has some type of event going on with adoption, grooming, or other special services. I've come here several times now for some treats for my adorable hamster ( I dare you to say something negative) and for my boyfriends salt water fish tank. They actually have a pretty good selection for someone who is just starting off. I don't remember the guys name but he helped us out a lot when it came to the tank and he was so knowledgeable..felt like I should be writing down everything he said. The staff is super sweet and always asking if we need help, I like that positive attention. We've already made plans to go back this weekend to pick a fish for myself..excited!!! Should definitely check out this store if you want a cool pet and check out the different services going on so maybe possibly you can save a doggies life..I just love animals. read more

This place is overpriced (especially crickets) and their clearance is almost non-existant. They do not care for their animals because the company doesnt care for them. I saw a dead mouse in one of the tanks and a parrot that was so stressed that the poor thing was ripping its own feathers out. Whenever I go I have to price match because everything is too expensive. The employees are usually great and tell the managers that there are sick or injured animals but its the company itself that is crap. They need to do better at pet care and correct pet information. I would never recommend buying salt/RO water from this fuckin store. How in the hell just by doing a regular 4year old 75 gallon salt water tank water change end up killing all you fishes and expensive ass corals that in total value together $800. I just moved down here from Fort Lauderdale and been using the same aquatic store ever since before moving here and nothing wrong has happened. And now my tank is dead. All they can do is return my $15.48 worth of water I bought but cant compensate me of the damages that the store made. My corals are all bleached the hell out and all my fish died from some kind of chemical shock. I literally bought the water the day before, came back home from work everything is dead. I looked online and the same thing happened to a couple of customers and what can they do to help the customers, absolutely shit. I'll never spend a dime in this fuckin store ever again. read more

Don't bother calling, they either don't answer, keep you on hold or they pick up and hang up. I had to find out information about a certain Petco procedure because my dog was allergic to a dog food that is ONLY sold in Petco. Thanks for being there when I actually needed a response. So I had to actually go to the store BUT when you go to the store, they're always extremely helpful and nice. They're also good to my dog. I guess they just suck at answering phone calls. read more

I have had my Akita groomed there twice. The price for nails, blow dry, ears, and brush out was '$92; while other groomers charge only $65. The results were good, however my dog showed fear and anxiety both times and resisted returning the second time. She has been groomed many other times and has never displayed this behavior. She is a service dog and has been spent specifically to allow grooming, since she has to be well groomed to be in public. Because of this problem we will use another groomer. The store selection of pet supplies is good, but again a little over priced. read more

Their personnel have ALWAYS been responsive and courteous, I usually find what I need...my last visit was a bust as I am trying to rejuvenated my old 55 gal. aquarium, they didn't have the down tubes to my under gravel filter system but the young lady explained that it was no longer a preferred system so they discontinued stock for them . So as to not waste my trip, I picked out a Squeaky toy for my Pittie from a great selection of very reasonably priced toys. Also, I priced filtration systems for future reference as I progress with my aquarium, I will return today to make more purchases as their prices beat a local competitor by 10%...... read more

We went into the store looking for feminine napkins for our dog. The employee was on the first isle to the left, his shirt said "dog trainer". We asked him n he didn't know if they carried such an item, he showed us some "reusable diapers" n left. Finally my husband found diapers in the same isle. We went to checkout n the same employee took care of us. He rang up the diapers n handed them to me along with the receipt. Something was missing right?? He didn't put it in a bag or even offered one. It just so happens that most of the time we go to this store, you either can't find someone to ask a question or if you find someone they're not helpful at all. I love these groomers! They employ some of the best and nicest people. I never feel bad about leaving my dogs here when they are due for a groom. And they always come back looking awesome. I like the new option where you can add the tip onto the credit card and it doesn't have to be cash anymore. I never have a problem getting a quick appointment either. i have spent 35 minutes calling three times, going through the menu - every extension has a full mailbox - and asking for an operator sends you back to music and round and round and no result. Am trying to make a grooming appointment for two dogs. IMPOSSIBLE - there is no "operator", there is no "Customer Service" person, all mailboxes full and no human (or even a hamster) answering the calls. Very poor marketing and business. Now am nearly afraid to leave my dogs for grooming .......... is their no one in charge or responsible? read more

I shop at this store weekly. dog and fish supplies. This store has the worst employees. doesn't matter when you or if the store is busy or not no one wants to wait on you. This mornning at 9:05 I went into buy some fish we were looking and waiting for over thirty minutes I finally searched the store and found an employee at the front of the store stocking clearance racks. I asked if someone could help with some fish. Her answer was ill be there soon I saw you. Then she proceeded to take her empty cart over across the store and start scanning other merchandise. Very disappointed in lack of response from store staff. Took my puppy to register for training class on 11/1/15 and after initially being told the trainer was on her way & waiting for 20 minutes, was then told the trainer was stuck on the highway. This was on a Sunday morning around 11:20 am. Was asked to give my contact info and as of Tuesday night, I have not received any promised phone call to reschedule. Needless to say, I will not visit this facility anymore and will make sure to let others know of my experience. Totally classless on how they ignore a potential customer! read more

Never an available cart in that store; for the many years I've gone there. Any carts they currently do have, are out in the lot with no way to sanitize them. Therefore, I had to carry a 40lb bag of cat litter on my shoulder and a basket of cat food in the other hand. The kicker? The line is huge because there's only one poor soul on register. An employee walks up to ring a customer up for one single frontline. Even though I'm next in line, she locks eyes with me and walks away to leave me carrying the bag on my shoulder. Sad part is, it's not the employees fault and the assistant manager is outstanding (honestly Miguel should be the general manager) to be honest it's the fault of everyone above them. Literally no effort into training and developing their employees; just hiring whomever they can pay the least and use them until they're no longer viable or can put up with management. I give 5 stars to the grooming service !!! My dog is large and leash reactive so taking her to a groomer in a place were there are other dogs around is always a hassle. The groomers here made me feel SO comfortable leaving her there because they weren't phased by her barking(pretty deep and scary bark). They leave her so fresh and clean and I only have to pay $30!!! Mind you she's a 60 lbs GSD Mix. My mobile groomer use to charge me twice that much. So glad I have this Petco right across the street. They also groom her pretty fast! This review is especially for the grooming salon. We recently moved from Kendall, where we went to Pestmart on 88th St. Didn't like it at all over there. They did the minimum, and nothing else. Super pricey as well. This was not the case here at Petco in Homestead. When I arrived and the lady in the front checked my dog, she noticed his ears a little bit infected, they took my dog... gave him a bath, cleaned ears etc. When I went to pick him up, Haileigh his groomer let me know that my dog had what seemed to be a skin infection. Immediately, I took him to the vet and he had a mild infection (non contagious!!) along with ears infected! It's so nice to have people notice and care about your dog besides just grooming/bathing. We will definitely be back again and request Haleigh. Thank you!! read more

Robin and my St Bernard pup Harley Quinn seem to have some kind of mystical connection. Harley, in typical St Bernard fashion loves to get as dirty as possible. After a couple of hours with Robin, she comes out looking like a whole new dog. Yesterday she came out sporting a pink bow collar and had everybody in the store fawning over her. I shop at a pet store at least three times a week. I normally visit another pet store but this one was on my way home so I stopped at Petco to buy some crickets and brought my dog in with me. Pets are normally welcome at most pet stores and staff members usually greet them with a friendly face. This store's staff was slow to help me and seemed annoyed when I asked if crickets were in stock. My puppy patiently waited next to me for a while but got bored after waiting so long. she started to walk in circles and stiffed at some dog treats close by. A store associate then approached me (first time anyone had taken an interest so far) and asked me to keep a better eye on my dog. I was upset because if it weren't for their slow pace, we would have been in and out before my pup's attention span wore out. None the less I was disappointed by their lack of customer service and will not return. I normal shop at the pet supermarket down the street and they always greet me and my puppy warmly, they engage with us and are always helpful. Sometimes my pup even leaves with a treat but most important, it's always a positive experience .... And their prices are better. Stay clear of this petco if you can. read more
