I was at Jersey Mikes across the street when I saw the Petco sign. I figured I'd fly in and get my dogs a dinner treat as well. I enjoyed this store as it's a little smaller than some and as such, very shoppable. It's not overwhelmingly large and I prefer that. I looked at the Budgies that all asked me to take them home. I wish I could but I have too many birds already. They have a great dog food section that included kibble, raw and frozen prepared foods. I found the building to be well laid out and well stocked. The customer service at check was first rate. I was in and out in ten minutes but my experience was very positive. read more

Today I was helped by a young gentleman that was so helpful and kind . He was supposed to be going on lunch but instead he waited and helped me get some shrimp. Which was beyond nice and his customer service was the best . The cherry/rainbow shrimp are beautiful colors . I have gotten them previously and they have never died. They are the best! read more

I've shopped there for years. Lately I got my tiny fish a much bigger aquarium, and also needed some equipment. I was also interested in adding one or two more fish of the type I already had (I had only two little fish: a type of guppy) and my snails had died off. I also wanted more plants. A new employee there would not sell me any more fish or snails, insisting that my aquarium was too small. This seemed odd as there was a much higher concentration of fish in the store's (and in every store's) tanks, even when the tanks are much, much smaller than mine. Yet, their water is clear and their fish seem healthy. Memo to sales folks: it's not good practice to talk down to customers. My bigger aquarium is now set up and my fish seem happy. I got snails elsewhere and will find another source of friends for my existing fish. read more

Manager was on a power trip and just plain rude. I didn't even get 4 words out before she started assuming and talking down to me. Demanding to see photos of my setup and trying to quiz me. Then she proceeded to tell me she couldn't sell the animals to me because it was past 8:15 but I was waiting for help to get them since before then. The manager and associate were in a back room just laughing for a while I and a whole line of people were waiting for help. I have never had such a rude and intruding customer experience. terrible experience. tried to call multiple times to confirm grooming appoint with no answer from grooming department or store associates. They canceled the grooming appointment while I was on my way in, 15 min prior to appointment. After the 3rd attempt to call in was met with a rude "I'm the only one in the store and the only groomer is deaf". still no reason for cancelling my appointment or any effort to remedy. just told to use the website to re-book. read more

I went to the vet clinic to get my dog vaccines and while I was there, I figured I would get his nails trimmed and ground. A young girl named star took him. I went to pay. The bill came back in, and when I did, my dog was barking, crying and flinching. He is six years old and never has he ever wind, cried, or barked while getting his nails trimmed. I loudly said you're going to sure and she responded "no I am not ". I demanded that she stop and give him to me which she did and I got a full refund. read more

Wouldn't sale me a couple snails for my beta tank. I'll buy them from someone who doesn't care how big my tank is or if the snails live or not. Won't be returning or telling any other location how big my tank is 2 gallons is plenty for a beta fish. Period. Nor do they need a filter or bubbler to be happy. In fact when I got both those things for his tank he attacked them ripping fins he's been happy in tap water with very infrequent water changes for 2 years now and has had snail buddies in the past. He longs for new snail buddies but I'll be telling all my friends and family not to get their fish, snails or tanks at Petco. SMH lousy service rep for not selling me the snails. Made an online order for store pickup for a harness but it was about 2 inches too big so I went to exchange it for a smaller size. I was given a paper receipt for the item but it was for only 1 item on my ticket which I didnt notice. When I went to the store to exchange it, they said the item doesnt exist and that our order was not in their system when I had the tag for the identical item in the different size. The manager came over and basically accused me of stealing a harness and then exchanging it for another size while simultaneously forging the confirmation email and receipt off my phone. I am not sure why a store would be skeptical of such a simple thing. The lady was at the register that checked me out and I had a 15 min conversation about our new puppy and even showed her a video of the upcoming litter when I made the original purchase. We talked about dog training and she shared her experience with dog training. She stood at the next register and acted like she knew nothing about the situation. I said hey you remember us and she immediately replied "NO!" And walked away. If you dont remember a person from a day ago that you had a long conversation with, you are either stealing from the company, you screwed up, or you have dementia and should not have a job that involves any cash exchange. She knew exactly who I was and I was astounded that she would not intervene to explain what happened to the manager. I dont need a paper receipt if I have your confirmation email and receipt. If paper receipts are required to exchange something I paid for with my card on your site, that is going to lose you a bunch of customers. The manager made good in exchanging the harness only after he said I needed to buy something that is 10.33...HUH! I am exchanging the harness and buying these treats separately. Why do I need to buy something? His solution was to take the treats off the order, I dont have to buy anything because his "system is down" ...WTF??? I have never seen such incompetence at a store in a long time. Very elementary business transaction that we spent over 30 minutes trying to resolve something that I have a receipt from your store on my email for that order. You literally have people stealing things off the shelves and you are going to hassle me over a simple 49 dollar exchange? I will not return to this store again. read more

Not only did this location have everything I needed for my multiple pets, but KJ and Mikey provided outstanding customer service. They were friendly, funny, and extremely helpful. I'm fairly disappointed with the outcome of my experience here. I brought my pup (sib husky mix) I'm for a deshedding treatment. In the past every time I have had this done my pup barely sheds any hair for quite some time.... the other petcos I have gone to out of state use the ferminator shampoo and conditioners and they have worked wonders (of course with a very intense comb out) so I had purchased some for home use and bring it to places that don't have the product with no issues. I arrived at the desk to schedule the appointment and talk pricing. Pretty average across the board from shop to shop, not a cheap treatment I might add. I requested the use of the ferminator products and was told they don't use them and they have to charge extra for using my personal products(say whaaaa? Aren't I saving the shop money this way?) well I was assured that the quality of what they use is comparable but they could definitely use my stuff for the additional cost. Upon picking up my pup I noticed he smelled different than normal but just kind of brushed it off. I also noticed that his fur was shedding worse than I have ever experienced in my life. Seriously hair EVERYWHERE... I thought maybe it just got loosened up and it will subside after a few days.... Well let me just tell you, the shedding has not stopped or even slowed down one bit. I am eating hair, and I can't vacuum my house enough. It has been nearly three weeks and I am in utter misery. So not only was I charged for the use of my shampoo that I KNOW works, but they used something different and maybe didn't brush him enough, who knows.... like I said, biggest waste of $80+ dollars. Definitely will not be back! It started with a puppy training package that I only went to two of the classes and I didn't like the trainer. They wouldn't give me a refund or offer store credit! 95% of the employees at this store that I have encountered really just don't seem to give a crap. I recently decided to get an aquarium, so I've been dropping by pretty frequently for fish food, tank equipment and "decor" etc. There's never anybody in the Aquatic department, and they take forever to respond to pages for customer assistance. Every question I ask is answered with an "uhhhhh..." and then they just read back whatever is written on the product I am querying. Useless. A couple of days ago I decided to buy a crud-eating snail for the tank. I waited for what felt like forever for some guy to quit flirting with his co-worker to come help me out. Because all of the snails were belly up in their shells, I asked him if they were dead. "Nah," he replies. "They're just chilling." Against my better judgement, I bought one of the lazy snails. Two days later, it was still "chilling." I took it back today, again waited forever for someone to come help, and noticed that the snails were still shrivelled up in their shells in the tank. "I think all the snails are dead," I say. Ignoring me, he scribbles something on my receipt and asks, "Would you like another fish?" "What?" I reply. "WOULD YOU LIKE ANOTHER FISH?" he barks. "No, I don't want a fish. I want a snail! One that isn't dead!" He puts the pen down and walks away, muttering. He doesn't care. "Not that you give you a shit," I cry out to the back of his head. I was pretty happy with my experience here, it wasn't bad at all. I have no problems with this Petco at all. I know all Petco's aren't made the same, so I was appreciative when I discovered that this location was more than exceptional.They had exactly what I needed and the location was easy to get to. My 2 year old cat has always been on a pretty healthy diet. I buy him Natural Balance dry food and it has been a great brand ever since we started feeding him it. He recently became a strictly indoor cat, so I had to switch up his food so he wouldn't get too fat. I called all the local pet stores to see if they had Natural Balance indoor formula, but no luck. (I used to go to a Tack and Feed store in Sacramento that carried, so I was bummed.) I was on the road later that day and discovered the Petco. I parked in their huge parking lot and found exactly what I needed. The food was at a great price too, a little less even than I paid before! I even purchased some cat treats and cat litter for the hell of it. The customer service was good, the staff asked me if I had found everything and signed me up as reward's member. I was in and out within 5 minutes with all Lucca's goodies. I'm pretty happy with this store and I'm glad my cat isn't going to be a fatty anymore. read more

Their stuff tends to be a bit more expensive than some other retailers, but it's more convenient for me because I don't have to mess with the parking, crowds, and the lines that I would have deal with if I bought the same items at the grocery store, and Petco's selection is vastly superior. read more

So my boyfriend took our dog in for his first grooming appointment; he mentioned that we had not had him groomed yet and he was a little anxious. He's a very nice dog, he's not dog or people aggressive at all. The groomer came in - no introduction, no trying to get to know the dog or make a connection, she came to the side of him and reached underneath him and I assume pinched him or something because he nipped at her and the only response was okay well we can't groom him today because he's too aggressive so we can try again same time next week. ??? How is that even going to be possible? What is going to change your mind in a week from now? I'm just in awe that these groomers clearly have 0 etiquette in introducing themselves to dogs who might be anxious and take the time to understand and feel him out. I've given him multiple baths by myself, so has my brother and never had any issues I understand we are not strangers, but I expected the groomer to do what any normal person would do when meeting a dog for the first time. I will not be returning next week and will be searching for someone who is willing to take the time to introduce themselves before starting services. What a waste of time. read more

Oh wow... So one of the cashier's couldnt do a return to my card for some reason, so she gave me cash - and one of those $10 notes (out of like $18 or so in change) was counterfeit. Of course, I didnt notice it immediately but called them within 48 hours. They only offered to "exchange" it - after giving me fake money (committing a crime) and putting me in a position to be charged with a felony had I used it. When I came in to exchange it - the manager or the store said that they were only doing this as a "courtesy," and implied that I should be thankful for some reason. Needless to say I wont be shopping here ever again, and I would advise you not to as well - unless you want to subject yourself to criminal charges and flak from the staff. read more

Well this is a love/hate review. Our family went to this location to buy a guinea pig for our daughters birthday present. The store was short staffed and it took a while to get help. That's ok, we don't sweat things like that. A nice lady (Becky iirc) came and helped us to make sure we knew what we were getting into. We held a couple to make sure our daughter was comfortable with the one she wanted. It was a pleasure dealing with her. The manager however was extremely rude. We just got the first animal out of the cage for Becky to show our daughter how to hold it and she came over and rudely reminded her that there were other customers who needed help and asked if we were going to buy one? (Implying not to waste time with us) my brother in law and I looked at each other like seriously? I was ready to drop everything and go to petsmart but my daughter had her heart set on a specific color animal and we had already told here she could get the one there so I bit my tongue. I would suggest better staffing if that was the issue or some personality training for the manager. However it has been my experience it likely would not help. Someone please apologize for me for coming and spending nearly $250 in your store today and having the audacity to want to ask to see an animal that we will be caring for for the next several years before having it boxed up. I had a horrible experience at their grooming salon. Started out by telling them that day wasn't the best for my schedule, but if they could get her done quickly, I could come in that day. They said 3 1/2 hours tops. No word after 4 hours, so I called to see how much longer. The groomer (michelle) said "give me 20 minutes" so I headed that way since I was now running late for dinner plans. When I showed up the employee seemed annoyed that I was there and said it was going to be another 20 minutes. It actually ended up taking 30 minutes more (I had to wait in my car the whole time so my dog wouldn't freak out) for a total of 5 hours. My biggest complaint - no apology, no explanation, nothing. She didn't give a crap. Worst customer service ever, I will not be going back. read more
