I usually go to another location and have a wonderful experience but this location is just not it. They definitely did not do a thorough job washing or drying him when we got him back his coat was still very wet, especially around the neck. I got a new puppy and went to Petco in Dalton ga to get a few things for the new puppy I was looking for a chew toy for him and see a sign 50% off so we looked and found a toy, and then went to pay only to find out it was not 50% off. As you see the 50% was the largest print on the sign but in smaller writhing's was buy one get one 50% off. See this is where the 1st scammers started was in Stroes luring in the elder people to buy the stuff at exuberant prices. When I asked the young girl at the register after she added up out total about the 50% off, she laughs and said oh it gets everyone they make the 50% off the biggest thing on the sign but if you would read the whole thing it said, buy one a regular price and get one at 50% off, (scammers). This petco sold me a hamster with wet tail and didn't say anything about her being sick. we had her for only about 15 hours and she passed away. I doubt they even knew she was sick but it was so obvious. I knew something wasn't right but I didn't want to assume the worst. I DO NOT recommend any petco locations. read more

I've brought my boxer there for about 4 1/2 years, never had a problem. There's a new manager in grooming now who acts like she was forced to take the position. Once Samson we got going down the road I didn't smell that"" "been washed" smell he didn't smell any better than he did when I brought him. Buffing nails, I'd hardly say was done. This is just what's visible so I doubt any of the other stuff was either. Like I said, the first 4 1/2 years was the greatest, maybe because of Amber and even her crew truly cared and were experienced. Petco you've just lost another customer and I should be reimbursed $32 for the "Not" grooming. Anyone know a good grooming service? read more

I wish I could give negative stars!!!! I came here to get my iguana a leash and the man made it seem like he was experienced and said he would put the harness on my iguana this man drops the iguana and now is holding him by the tail trying to get him not to escape causing my iguana to drop his tail the man tries to lie to make it seem like it would grow back sooner than it actually will is trying to make it seem like he did us a favor because the tail was no good ! but hadn't given my iguana any problems he tries to give me a 5$ harness for free! like he didn't just leave me with OVER $1000 dollars in vet bills to even experience your pet in a situation you have never put them in I have never made my iguana feel attacked i never HOLD HIM BY THE TAIL I could keep going but at this point I feel like I just need to cry please don't go to this place I beg of you please just close down this location it was the employees lying about the recovery time and ect ... I'm definitely going to be contacting my lawyer because they should have at least half of this bill ! read more

This honestly used to be my favorite Petco. I would literally drive out of my way to visit. But after my recent visit I probably will not be returning. In the aquatic section they had more than 6 male Betta fish in a single tank tearing each other apart. In another tank they had a sickly Betta in with 10+ angel fish that were torturing him. The tanks were filthy and you can hardly see through the filth to make out what was dead and what was barely clinging on to life. I filed a complaint and they said they would get it fixed. Now days later NOTHING has been done. I cannot stand behind a store that has such a blatant disregard for a living being. I will post photos in the comments of what I saw. read more

She recommended a bathing product to use at home between visits. I had booked this appointment online and selected more services than needed and rather than let me pay for unneeded stuff she took time to correct it and explain what I needed and didn't need. read more

Our Petco is located on Shugurt Road in Dalton. It's near Academy sports. The problem I have with Petco is they are just too pricey!

Bought two lights and both did work and I bought a $60 filter and he tore up in two days. I used to go to Petco for all my babies needs but I will not anymore. I'm tired of getting ripped off. I LOVE PETCO !! Although they no longer have puppies, they do have a wide selection of fish and reptiles. Great place to bring to pet in the store. Some times it is hard to get help if a pretty girl is in the store. She will have 4 or 5 young guys surrounding her while ignoring you. Learn how to dip and bag your fish or pet. read more

If you have any pre-cast notions that a large franchise over priced store won't be of help you can lay that ALL aside. Among the great staff at this Petco was Michael the manager. Earlier today I asked God for someone I could get SOLID dog advice to help my wife potty train our brand new beagle puppy. I went into the store to get puppy diapers. Michael could have just pointed to them, smiled and sent me on my way. Instead he treated me like I was the most important client that day. He educated me on the different types of diapers but then gave me the direction I needed. He taught me about different sprays to help Remi go outside where she should Then we talked about dog food. I'm thinking mid-high grade good price. He taught me HIGH grade but not as much needed per day bc of quality. We talked about other stuff I needed to shell out. However, the best was when he walked me to the front and made sure I was signed up with petco's savings system to get me every discount I could and more for our new pup. I normally don't leave bad reviews, because things happen, but this can not go unnoticed. My 14 year old dog went in for a bath and came out with chunks of fur missing, and a complete texture change to the area behind her neck, between her shoulder blades. I thought it looked weird, but they sent her home still wet (another issue, but I'll let it pass), so I took her home to dry in hopes that her fur would fluff back up. Well, it didn't, and there is an obvious rectangle shaped spot where something was done to her fur there, and the texture and amount of hair around her neck is not its normal soft and fluffy self. I called to see if something happened, and was treated like I was crazy by the groomer who picked up the phone. She defended the groomer who saw my dog, and very happily unscheduled us for our next appointment. Do they not want business? I mean, no "I'm sorry this happened, what can we do to make this right." nothing. I go in to speak with a manager and get the same thing, treating me like an idiot, no apology of any sort. Basically spoke down to me, and looked at pictures of my dog like I was a crazy person. I was given a refund, but I didn't even care about that, I want to know how it happened and would like an honest apology. They say no clippers were used on her, so where did the fur go? How hard did they brush her to leave her fur in this condition? I can only imagine at this point since all they have done is happily blow off my concerns. No dog should have to go through having their fur ripped out the way it appears hers was, I don't care what the situation was. Her hair was never matted, it was shiny and soft when I took her in, and now it is anything but. No one involved in this experience, in either the grooming or the covering up of the groomers actions, should hold a position at this company. read more

Worst interaction with a store manager I have had in Dalton, GA at a retail establishment...employees were great, greeted me as soon as I walked in the door and I was asked twice by 2 separate associates if I needed help with anything. When I was ready to check out I approached the front register where a manager (tall man, short gray hair, I didn't catch his name because it was on the side of his shirt that I couldn't see) and an associate stood restocking shelves. The associate looked at me, looked at the manager, and the manager ROLLS HIS EYES and walks toward the register to check me out. Aside from asking if I would like to sign up for the rewards program and taking my information, he made no attempt at conversation with me and did not smile or make eye contact once. Having worked in retail as a sales associate for 4+ years, I was shocked at how impersonal he was. I will not be returning to this Petco location due to his obvious lack of interest in setting a good example for his employees as he interacts with customers. read more
