If you have a doodle or ANY curly haired dog. I would strongly advise you to not have Kylee as your groomer. She completely butchered my dog after we specifically told her what we wanted and she agreed to it and shared only his face and parts of his legs had matting. When we came back his whole body has been shaven down to the skin in which infuriated me. Her only excuse was, #4 is different on curly hair and what's advertised is straight hair. As a groomer I'd assume she would be knowledgeable in ALL hair types not just cut short because it's easier for her to manage. I will never go back to petco even if it's my last option. Get better groomers or pay them well "hair will grow back" is not a valid excuse for some owners! read more

Disappointing every time. I have two cats with pretty basic needs, but this location can't even keep the staples, like Iams indoor cat food, in stock. They can't be bothered to display prices for some items. Plus they don't carry Hartz Delectables squeezable treats - which is every cat's favorite treat, if you ask me. The older lady that works the registers is downright mean. She never greets me or asks if I found what I was looking for or anything like that. One day I actually heard her grumble about hating her job and not wanting to be there. I mean, I get it, retail jobs are devastatingly soul crushing and everybody knows it. We have been going here to get our dogs nails cut and buffed along with a teeth cleaning for well over a year but our usual dog groomer left. We made an appointment with a new groomer who made us wait 15 extra minutes past our appointment time because she was talking to somebody who was just dropping off their dog. She didn't mention the extra wait and just asked if my dog had any medical issues. Then they rushed us out while saying our dog acted like a baby during the nail cutting. It's sad that the previous groomer went above and beyond to keep us as a customer and then this person lost us after one visit. read more

There are two employees who you can tell generally care about their job and customer service and it's not hard to figure out who those two are just walking in and asking for help. I just walked in looking to buy two rats, immediately I'm told they aren't selling animals until a later time because they are short staffed. At that moment I was literally looking at two employees who weren't doing much of anything and there was no one else in the store. Lexi from grooming service knows absolutely nothing about customer service. The Petco app allowed me to book a teeth cleaning and nail trim for 8am for which I received an email confirmation for. When I arrived at 8:04am, she informed me that she cancelled my appointment (a minute prior) because the rest of the store doesn't open until 9am. While I understand she can't fix the website on her own, she was extremely rude about the entire situation. When I explained my frustration due to wasting my time and being inconvenienced, she told me to "get out" and made zero effort to reschedule my appointment. So take that for what you will but I for one, will never come to this location for grooming services again. Her husband stripped him off after they continuously changed the time of his appointment and they gave him the worst haircut ever and didn't finish. This review is for this Petco's adoption process and specifically Tiffini. We stopped by Petco just before close on Monday to check out the hermit crabs (yeah - I know, who in their right mind just checks out hermit crabs?) - but seriously, I've gotten 3 of my 4 herms from here and they're by far the best kept store-bought herms in Woodbridge. ANYWAYS - we walk in and are greeted by a giant snake. An adorable chick with short, colorful hair walks up and asks if we want to pet her - mentioned she's been given up by her owner and is looking for a forever home. Who woulda guessed Petco gets tons of reptile surrenders!? Petco is literally locking the doors and turning off the lights because it's after close, but they aren't rushing us at all - answering all our questions, explaining details about the breed. She says we can put a 24 hold to sleep on it - snake care is long term, these guys can live 30 years if kept right. We show up the next morning to see Tiffini feeding mice and a smile wipes across her face when she realized we're takin' the ol' girl home. And man are these people almost as nice as this snake! Tiffini is teaching us how to hold her, how to bathe her, how to feed her - hell, they both even pose for pictures (it's quite a spectacle to see a 6 foot snake wrapped around a 5 foot woman). Thanks so much to Petco for being so awesome. I look forward to buying snake and hermit SUPPLIES (no more pets for me!) from here! read more

Update* So I made the mistake of trying to give them another chance. I set up an appointment on a Sunday for a Tuesday haircut. I arrived with 2 dogs and was told they don't have me in the system and there's nothing they can do. STAY AWAY from this place. This is the second time I ended wasting my time. Just go to the Petsmart near Potomac Mills. You will save yourself the hassle The Grooming service is horrible. I had scheduled a bath and a haircut for my jack ruses/beagle mix. When I arrive they tell he only is scheduled for a bath. That they can't give him a haircut that day since they don't have anyone to do it. Much better customer service than the PetSmart in Woodbridge, especially the grooming center. I do not know what is wrong with the groomers at PS, but Petco groomers are much better (and LOVE LOVE LOVE dogs, they are the ones with the zillion dog stickers on their cars in the parking lot, PS groomers have an "i can't wait to get out of here" attitude). I just wish this was more convenient to get too! For the most part the selection is the same as PetSmart, but the food offered here is a much better quality. It's smaller than PS, and the isles are closer together, so if you have an agoraphobic dog, it's probably better to leave your mutt at home. read more

This is a really nice Petco. I'm not biased towards PetSmart.. but they seem to be more consistent with their service. This Petco in Woodbridge is really big and friendly. I drove all the way up here from Manassas awhile ago to buy one of my lizards (I have a lot of pets). The person working in the reptile section was VERY knowledgable. He handled my lizard well and even let me play with it prior to buying it. The reptile cages were clean and seemed to be taken care of. For example, I got his newest harness for just $4! Otherwise, the products here can be very overpriced as with any other pet store. This is the WORST Petco! We went and got my daughter a guinea pig for her birthday. First the associate lied and said he was a baby LIE!!!!! Then we got him home and my daughter was thrilled. I haven't always had the best experiences here at this Petco when we had a dog but we recently rescued a kitten so I thought I'd give them another shot. I'm so happy I did! It isn't always easy to get assistance because they seem short-staffed but my son was able to flag down Chris, a new manager. She was absolutely wonderful to us and provided a lot of information and recommendations considering we have never owned a cat. I had the worse experience at this Petco location! My husband had dropped off our 5 month old puppy for a haircut and when I got there they told him to be back in a couple of hours after just 30 minutes he receives a call saying they just couldn't finish the hair cut bc the puppies hair was too matted. When my husband leaves the store he says that our Jax was so scared that he cried the whole way home. As soon as he sent me pictures of how they had left him I immediately called the store and asked yo talk to the manager. Once the manager was on the phone she was super unprofessional and rude. She told me our puppy was biting the groomer and she couldn't do it which was not what they had mentioned to my husband at all. She proceeds to say that "at-least he is safe and not hurt" and continues to be sarcastic with me throughout the whole conversation. When I asked her if he was biting why didn't they just leave him alone from the beginning she tells me that he started biting towards the middle of the haircut and they couldn't have guessed he would do that. She then ends the call by saying he's fine and for me to have a good day in the most sarcastic way possible. It really felt like she was trying to be extra ignorant. I was needing to get my cats nails clipped over a weekend. I searched online to pet stores that offered cat grooming services, on there website they said that they did offer this services. I then called up the grooming salon to make sure and asked if they did this service the same day and if I could bring her in later that day. The man that I spoke to said that they did and I could bring my cat in to the salon in a hour. I got my cat in the car and drove over. Once I arrived there were many technicians in the salon and I women asked what I needed done. I let her know that I had called 45 minutes before and that I was here to get my cats nails clipped. She then informed me that they do not offering nail clippings for cats and that they haven't for over two years. I repeated the phone number that I called, and she said that was the salons phone number, but she was not aware why someone told me to bring my cat in. Needless to say my traumatized cat, myself, or any of my family pets will NOT be returning to petcos salon or petco for any of our pets needs. read more

It's hard to see in the dimmly lit back corner of the store to start with, so I have no clue what's actually available. Lighting was turned off last time we tried this location as well. We waited about 10 minutes and nobody came over to help us, so moving on. This location is the most horrendous out of all the ones here in the area. My husband and I have given this location several opportunities and it continues to disappoint. The first was to pick up our dogs dog food which I was told they carry, only to get there and be told they don't. Once I arrived I found an associate and before I could even get the "can I get some help?" Question out of my mouth the associate said "I can't help you." The second time was an honest mistake as they canceled our dogs grooming appointments and didn't send an email, but they did leave a voicemail that wasn't received until after we arrived. This last time, was inexcusable. We rescheduled our dogs grooming appointments and arrive today only to be told we were scheduled in stafford. Why, in the name of common sense would we be scheduled in stafford if we made the same appointments with the same groomer at this location? Needless to say they after only 45 min they called us and said she was all done and ready for us to pick her up. When we got her back it was very obvious the she wasn't even washed and only three of her paws were taken care of. Poor grooming customer service. Made an appointment online for 1 week out, and a couple of hours before my appointment on Sunday they called and said we don't take appointments that late( 3:00pm on Sundays )and would have to cancel. I booked this online and the system let me do it and confirmed . I asked to speak with the grooming manager and she was even ruder saying my groomer went home sick...so I received 2 different stories about why they cancelled my appointment. The groomers should have checked their appointments sooner than 2 hours before I was to come in and cancel. Petco is a large company and they shouldn't have flaws with their online booking regarding times. If the groomers know this is the case, they should be checking the appointments daily to make sure appointments are not booked wrong. read more
