If you have a grooming appointment scheduled with Maria Saldana at Petco, I encourage you to exercise caution based on my personal experience. I had a grooming appointment scheduled for 4:30p. Due to heavy rush-hour traffic from the Steel Creek area, I realized I would be about 10 minutes late. While that was my responsibility, I called Petco ahead of time to let them know I expected to arrive around 4:40p and asked if my dog could still be seen. Maria told me she had sent a text at 3:11p asking if I could come at 4:00p instead because the store closes at 6:00p and grooming normally takes about two hours. I explained that a phone call and voicemail would have been much more appropriate for a time-sensitive appointment. Her response was simply, "Oh well, I tried to reach out." I then asked why Petco's website allows customers to book a 4:30p grooming appointment if a full groom takes two hours. Maria stated I could still arrive by 4:40p, but not any later. Because of her attitude, I asked to speak with a manager. Isaac confirmed the salon closes at 6:00p, acknowledged there is no disclaimer during online booking regarding appointment length or late arrivals, and agreed that if I arrived by 4:40p, my dog could still be groomed. He was courteous and even provided me with Petco Customer Service's number so I could report my concerns. I drove to the store as quickly as possible and arrived within the agreed timeframe. After I entered, another Petco associate (not a groomer) spent time greeting my dog, playing with him, and giving him a treat while Maria remained away from the front. When she finally came over, wearing AirPods, she refused to groom my dog because it was now just after 4:40p. I explained that had she checked us in promptly instead of delaying, we would have been checked in before the cutoff. She dismissed my concerns. I a manager. While waiting, Maria repeatedly talked over me despite my asking her several times to stop until management arrived. She then stated, "Regardless, I am not servicing him." Because of how confrontational she became, in disbelief I wanted to record the interaction. The moment she saw my phone, she immediately ran to the back and never returned. When Isaac came, I explained the interaction & filed an updated complaint with Petco Customer Service. During that time, staff told me Maria has a reputation for having a poor attitude and that she had been in the back, not actively grooming another dog. I was also told my dog's appointment likely could have been completed during the amount of time spent arguing and processing complaints.. I was there for over 40 minutes At that point, I no longer trusted her to care for my dog. Trust is everything when someone is working with your pet behind closed doors using sharp grooming tools. I completely understand employees wanting to leave on time. However, if Petco closes at 6:00p and grooming takes approximately two hours, 4:30p appointments should not be available for booking. If there is a strict late-arrival policy or grace period, it should be clearly disclosed during the scheduling process. This was my first experience using Petco Grooming, and unfortunately, it will also be my last. Isaac handled the situation professionally, but my interaction with Maria was one of the most unprofessional customer service experiences I've had. I hope Petco addresses its scheduling system, the professionalism expected from employees representing the company, and disciplinary action for Maria Saldana. Google doesn't allow you to put zero stars. However, thank you to Isaac, Dime, and Britany who showed genuine concern, love, and care to my pup Bruno! They are the ONLY reason I'd consider returning, Maria is NEVER to be around my dog. read more

Petco - Maria Saldana, rude Petco Pet Stylist - Pet Stores Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

I can't say enough about the groomer's at Petco Charlotte! My Moyen Poodle puppy is going through his "fear stage" right now & scared of everyone & everything! When we got to Petco, I was worried. But then, there is Mrs Jessica! She is his groomer & the manager at this location. He was whimpering & like a kid, reaching up for love. Mrs Jessica reached right down to him and picked him up; and he's no Toy Poodle lol. She always does a great job but since it's his birthday, I feel he got an extra special big boy cut! I will also share that, under her leadership & team focus, I've noticed the same level of caring from all the staff. Now parking!!! Whew! It's a parking deck so that's a pain HOWEVER, it's a Target on the 3rd floor, some great shopping in walking distance and a Frutta Bowl right across the way! So you can make an appointment for you dog, fool around for a few hours then pick up your fur baby & go home; 1 RT Trip PERFECT! I recommend this location and drive 20 miles to go myself read more

Doggies and kitties need presents too, so we stopped in to Petco and picked up some goodies. The store is tidy, well packed with stuff for dogs, cats, fish, other small creatures. Prices are clearly marked. Friendly service. They often have animals for adoption so I try to steer away from that part of the store or I'd have to take more home with me and I already have enough. We arrived to the store at 7:30 and the doors were locked. I called several times and no one answered. As I waited to see if any staff would acknowledge customers standing at the doors, 13 other cars showed up and customers walked up to the store being locked 30 min early. Lazy staff is unacceptable! PetCo lost a decent amount of money between my family and the other families that were turned away. read more

For dog grooming do NOT use SARAH! She does a horrible job. Had to return for someone to redo the face & tail on my schnauzer. It was as if she skipped over. Sarah was also rude in the process. Thank goodness for Amy when I returned who went above & beyond to be customer-friendly & clean up Sarah's mess. read more

I caught a woman outside a petsmart trying to dump a hamster because they wouldnt take it back. I took the hamster so it wouldn't get put outside and called a dozen places and this petco was the only one that was kind enough to take it for me!! I will start off by saying I strongly dislike giving bad reviews, but this one is necessary. I made an in person appointment for my dog to receive a basic groom and was quoted a set price. Fast forward to the next day, I arrived with my fur baby and was first ignored by the lady at the desk, then when someone came from the back to finally greet us he informed me my price was going to have to be increased by $24 if I wanted my baby to be groomed due to him having black nails. I asked for more clarification and he repeated exactly what he'd said before in a more stern voice. Although upset, I held my composure when informing him I made my appointment the previous day while in person so I did not feel like the price should be increased due to my baby having the same black nails he'd had the day prior. He again repeated the exact same thing verbatim as before. I replied by telling him to just cancel my appointment because I did not feel his price increase or treatment of me was acceptable. I feel as though price gouging or upselling is highly inappropriate when dealing with fur babies and instead of accepting I was not ok with the price increase he decided to be rude which was completely unacceptable. read more

Never, ever order pet prescriptions through these guys. Heard terrible horror stories, true. Ordered important meds for puppy. 20 days later "canx for unclear subscription" although it was easy to read. PETCO lied and said they called vet 10x with no answer. Vet laughed, ridiculous. 40 minute wait to talk to supervisor. Can't fill. Can't get subscription back. Starting over but NEVER at Petco again! read more

HORRIBLE! Left my dog wet to "kennel dry" didn't call me when they where done. Had my dog locked up with a bunch of others. Didn't clean her ears right. & I over paid. This is the second time these people mess up badly! Never going back. Save your money & take your pets where they deserve. This grooming is absolutely GARBAGE. read more

I came here to get a wash for my 50 pound puppy a couple weeks ago and had a really good experience at the spa part! It was only $15 for the puppy package for under 6 months which was everything we needed for our girl. They did a great job and were so nice to Indi. She gets really scared of baths/nail clipping, but I barely heard her crying, so I think treated her well! We'll be back :) read more

My dog was injured at this petco. The groomer didn't tell me. I had to find out on my own when I took him home and he couldn't sit down without whimpering. His appointment was a week ago and his wound on the back of his leg still hasn't healed. The woman that groomed him seemed very annoyed. I tipped her well (before finding out how awful she treated my puppy). I wish I had known before I left the store that day that he had been mistreated. I'm taking him to the vet on Monday. read more

Petco - His very uneven haircut - Pet Stores Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

This is a convenient place to get my goldendoodle's nails trimmed and ground down in between groomings. We live a few minutes away from this Petco and I figured why not try it for the convenience. I am typically skeptical about big box dog stores, particularly their grooming services, but immediately upon entering and interacting with the grooming staff here, my anxiety was eased. Immediately when you walk in, the grooming area is located on the left. Both of the times I came here, I have had to wait only a few minutes for one of the groomers to come greet me and take my pup back. There are windows to see into the grooming area and I have always been happy with the way the groomers treat the dogs and my dog. Nail trim and grind will run you the standard $15 and it has lasted as long as other trim/grinds from other more expensive dog boutiques. The Petco store in general is on the smaller side, but you can find all the foods, treats, and toys that you would need. There are a bunch of chews located at the front near the register that I have gotten that have kept my pup busy for a while when I have company over. Only major downside is the parking situation. I have been lucky to find a spot out front each time I have come, but I know the metropolitan is pretty busy most days. I recommend coming here on non busy weekends or first thing on the weekends before the crowds. If you are unlucky and do not find a spot out front, you can always park on the 2nd floor of the garage by the stairs/elevators and walk down that way. I avoid the 1st floor in the parking garage at all costs!! read more

Great selections of pet food, snacks and toys. Friendly team members. Clean store. I also recommend Lauren for training. She is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, caring and goes above and beyond. I will be coming back here for a long time. Update 6/19/18: It has been almost 2 years and Jessica is still our favorite groomer!! She has done an awesome job with Tyra. Horrible grooming experience here. Save your money and go elsewhere. I've had much better experiences at Petsmart but wanted to try them. Sara was super dry and had no customer service. For it being my first time, it just wasn't a very welcoming experience. They didn't even call me when he was done. They messed his haircut up and didn't even cut his nails which I paid extra for. I definitely overpaid and will never come here again. read more

Love this Petco! I have been going to Grooming here since they opened. Cody was amazing but was promoted to another store. I just started going to Jessica. To begin I wasn't even going to write this review because of how furious I've been. Please know you've been warned, if I could rate this place negative 5 stars I would. Checking in the groomers attitude was off and abrasive, she seemed very aggravated and just not happy to be there. I have a full breed Shihtzu and around his face was matted. His body however was fine and we came to the conclusion his face would have to be cut down a little lower than normal. Upon arrival the dog they brought out didn't even reflect the breed. She shaved off all of his face AND ear hair. Never called to let me know or verify that's what I wanted. The two biggest problem I had however were discovered after getting home. On my dogs stomach he was still very matted, it look as if they didn't even check underneath him. And my biggest concern was my dogs attitude. I possibly have one of the clingiest most loving dogs and he was clearly traumatized! He would barely let me or anyone touch him until the next day, and was being very aggressive even growling at the family whenever people would approach him. He never does this. I truly believe the groomer was either manhandling or abusing my defenseless dog. She made passive aggressive comments about him being rambunctious ( as if he's not a 11 month "Dog" not puppy which she rudely explained when I referred to him as one). My dog has gotten groomed a total of 5 times in the almost year I've had him, and never has any groomer say anything wrong, nor has he acted like this after. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG HERE. read more

My dog has had several groomers over the years (she is 11 and the groomers moved on to other locations - the only reason I haven't been able to keep the same groomer over the years). Never, ever has a groomer said that she was difficult or anxious. Yet after her last groom I was told she had a "meltdown" and that she could no longer be groomed at Petco. I am actually fine with that because I suspect she was manhandled and treated very badly. I've since taken her to another groomer who said she was totally fine - a real sweetheart throughout the groom. Never again. read more

Grooming staff is wonderful! Jessica the manager is so amazing with my anxious dog. Couldn't recommend enough

I'm not sure if I came at a bad time or didn't make myself clear enough. I had my dog groomed here and was greatly disappointed when I came to pick her up. When I walked in no one greeted me, she simply pulled up the receipt and had me pay. When I saw my dog for the first time I was shocked...pictures to prove. She was cut unevenly, they shaved her ears which I specifically asked them not to do (and no she was not matted) the feathering on the back of her legs looked like my 2 year old nephew did it. Note to self, pay the price and go elsewhere. Lesson learned. read more

So close to the house I can bike or walk there on the Little Sugarcreek Greenway! We get our specialty dog and cat food there, today I went in since I'm cranking up my 75 gallon aquarium again after many years. At this point I'm cycling the new tank so I'm only looking for some live plants. The staff was very helpful and I was able to get some clearance plants for 50% off given they had some dead leaves - great deal. I also bought a cool natural tree thing that held three additional aquatic plants that looked like a living underwater tree! I also checked out the fish which I'll add in a few weeks, prices were decent and every tank the fish looked healthy, kudos to the Metropolitan Petco Fish team! read more

Made an appointment for my dogs grooming. We have been bringing him there for more than a year. Worst experience at a Petco groomer ever. My dogs have been groomed at this location in the past with no problem. I take time off work, show up and all the sudden they need a doctor's clearance to groom my dogs because they have heart conditions. They wouldn't even take a verbal confirmation or an email from my vet. Even my vet's office found their request to be ridiculous. Clearly they don't want business if they make it this hard to be a customer. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! read more

Everyone I have encountered at this location is SO sweet. 2 times I had to talk to managers and they couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. This location is always clean. I bought my puppy his collar, harness, leash, and food here. When you sign up for the rewards you get a book full of coupons. Recently, I decided to sign my puppy up for puppy training with Michael. I went in the day before class started to pay for the classes. They were running a deal, $40 Petco cash if you bought training classes. The person who wrung me up also signed me up for Petco rewards. After I was done with my transaction I remembered that I needed to grab pet food. I was looking through the coupon book I received from signing up for rewards and noticed that the food I was going to buy was free after a $20 purchase. I also noticed that there was a $10 off coupon on training. I went back to the register and explained this to the man who checked me out and he asked if he could get a manager. The manager, Ashley, was SO kind when she reissued the transaction. I really appreciated it and I'm happy that my neighborhood store is so friendly! I will edit my review once Dillon, my puppy goes through training! read more

Are you serious? I almost gave this location 1 star. No water bowl for dogs like other petcos. Brand new location but not well stocked. The cashier here is the worst, very incompetent. The item i was trying to buy had an extra 20% reduced to se sticker on it, the cashier is super incompetent. I asked what about the 20% discount, the cashier said it's already taken off, I said that was the original discount, she said then "i dont know do you want me to charge you more?" Wtf, this is terrible customer service and very illogical and lacks common sense. They need to do a better job screening people if they are to bring in a brand new location. I did find a couple good sale items here, thus giving this place 2 stars. Because shopping at petco and petsmart are not a good use of your money. read more

This Petco is awesome! They are located right next to Target on Metropolitan, and you can either park in the garage and walk over or there are ~5 spots directly out front of the store. They have a wide variety of food, toys, and treats for cats and dogs. I have seen some small critter items, but I can't speak to that selection. They do have live animals at this store including ferrets and fish. The staff here are the best, and they're so friendly and greet us and our pets when we come in the door. I love their enthusiasm and helpfulness finding items. Side note: If you need a long-lasting chew treat, try their awesome selection of antlers! Our power-chewer dog is hooked! read more

Brought my dog in for the holiday grooming package. I was told since it was his first time being groomed they would have to see how much they could get done and the price of his haircut would decrease if they couldn't do the body. I ended up tipping $15 before even seeing my dog so altogether I ended up paying $100 even though clearly they didn't shave or cut his body and I didn't get the holiday handkerchief that was included in the price on the website when I made his appointment. Everything was done but the body so I expected the price to decrease as it was explained to me but of course they charged me full and now I have to bring him somewhere else to get his body fixed. HORRIBLE experience-would not recommend. I took my Golden-doodle to get her groomed a second time and they completely shaved her literally to the skin. She had a cut on one of her ears and around her bum from how closely and carelessly they shaved her. I had taken her there once before and they had notes on how we wanted her hair cut.. and I specifically said I didn't not want her hair cut at this second visit, I only wanted knots cut out as needed. When my husband brought her home I thought he picked up the wrong dog. I called and let a message for the manager to call me back, I just wanted to know WHY she's been shaved. I left four messages and the manger, Jim, never bother to return my call. I would not recommend wasting your money. These people do not care about you or your pet. read more

This was my first experience with grooming through Petco but it will not be my last! Saturday morning, I tried booking a nail trim for my dog online for the same day or next day. They were all booked. I called grooming to see if there was any way they could squeeze my fur baby in today or tomorrow. They told me to come on in. I left this location upset and annoyed, I took my dog to get groomed and was turned away due to the groomer saying she could not service my dog because my dog was being aggressive my dog barked once, she stated my dog tried to bite her I informed the groomer she was lying because I was standing there watching, my dog is a very sweet dog she has never bitten anyone since I've had her and I've had her since she was barely a month old . When I asked the groomer why she stated That my dog was being aggressive she said my dog barked at her, when the lady in front of me dog barked several times and she wasn't turned away or told her dog was being aggressive. I asked to speak to a manager which was pointless because she really didn't care how I felt I informed them that I will be calling corporate due to me being Discriminated against while leaving a guy came in with a barking dog and she serviced him. I left in tears and upset,do not take your dog to this location they have nasty attitudes. The groomer Jaime also told me my dog needs some training and I stated she needed some as well. read more
