There's a review below that I could not agree more with. A groomer tried to "reschedule our appointment" but she didn't, she asked if we'd come in earlier, and when I got there, she stated I was 15 minutes late. We were not, as our original appointment was never rescheduled. The managers Cassie, and a gentleman, were nice enough to try to work something out, but then we were given some judgmental feedback about a few mats our dog had. I felt like she was grabbing for straws at excuses not to groom our pup when we have never once been told anything like this about our golden doodles tightly wound, curly fur. It was very disappointing, and quite frankly, wildly unprofessional. I would not recommend attempting to go to this location for a grooming appointment. read more

Now I remember why I stopped going here a year and a half ago. My groomer that I've had for the last year and a half moved, So I thought I would try Petco again. While I understand, they are being safe, there is no notice on the website of any type of criteria that they won't groom dogs that have certain issues. She's had the same disease (CM/SM) for 6 years. She had this disease when we were going to Petco a couple years ago with no issues. When I made the appointment, I even put a note as a reminder that she has CM/SM. There should have been a call to me right after I made the appointment. Instead, they waited till I got there, after I drove 25 minutes, to tell me they would not groom her. Recommendations. Put something on the website or when you are making the appointment that if your dog has any issues to call to confirm before you make the appointment. Second, read the notes when an appointment is made. What's the use of notes if you don't read them. read more

In mid-September I was given a betta fish. I've never owned one before and a friend who got one at the same time said the staff at Petco was so helpful when she bought her supplies. With that recommendation, I went to the Manatee Ave (Bradenton, FL) Petco store. My first experience was great. Staff was friendly and helpful and even discouraged me from buying things I would not need. I purchased a tank with a light kit, a thermometer and some water conditioner. I set everything up right away and moved my fish, JJ, into his new home. All was great until Friday (about 6 weeks after the purchase). The light stopped working. It's powered by USB or battery, but I've always used the USB. I can't see buying batteries on a regular basis for this. I contacted customer service and they said go to the store. Saturday, I went to the store. I didn't have my receipt and it had been more than 30 days, but there was nothing they could do for me. I would have to buy a new tank. I felt that was ridiculous and left my broken light kit there. Because it had been more than 30 days, there was nothing they could do. They didn't offer to find my receipt through customer rewards or anything. My only option was to buy a new tank and kit. I was so mad that I left. I should have bought the new one, switched out the lights and returned it then and there, but that thought came to mind later. Now, I am shopping for a new light kit for the existing tank. I can tell you one thing for sure, it won't come from Petco. They DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. They may be fine for things like food or non-electronic items, but they've lost my business for good. I went based on a recommendation when two other pet stores were closer. Like others, I was yelled at for questioning the store's so called policies. One staff member, Randi, was particularly rude and condescending. The Sunday store manager just went along with her and was rude as well. I wound up calling corporate and they said the store manager was incorrect and should have approved the purchase. Corporate sent the pet food by overnight express at no charge and I received it in1 1/2 days. Ask for Brianne if you shop there. She is the only one who truly cares. read more

Had a very unusual experience with groomer. Took our dog in and went over the grooming process with us and we left. Got a call an hour later that they can't groom her. Something about managers monitor them on camera and they would have to shut down the whole operation. And that we should find a groomer that is not on camera. It was a little incoherent and didn't make sense Our dogs have been going here for years. Just a strange experience. Everyone that works in this store is very nice and helpful. I have a siberian huusky who had to be on a special soft food diet, and one of the employees I see there often gave me a good recomendation for a canned food that she said her dog liked. Not onnly did Rex like the food, but it was the best priced food compared to all of the other canned food. They are really friendly and my dog loves visiting. read more

Brittany the store manager has always been helpful, as has groomer valerie. The other groomers i've had encounters with are always very rude, and always have a reason to turn our pup away. We've been told they are closed on days that they are open, and have had many issues in the past. I wish I could write a nicer review, but it terms or grooming ask for Valerie or go somewhere else. read more

scheduled my four puppies for grooming over two weeks ago. I took the day off work and showed up for my appointment at 10am. When I walked in, there was no one in the grooming office. Since one of my dogs was shaking and nervous and had gone number 2 on the floor in the past, i walked them out to the grassy area in front of the grooming windows. They went to the bathroom and i was walking back in a lady stopped me to pet them and ask me what kind of breed they were. I didn't want to be rude and drag them away from her so I told her and we chatted a minute and then i walked back inside the grooming office. I stood in that lobby for almost 10 minutes then as i was walking out to ask a clerk where the grooming staff was, this groomer named Janet walked out and yelled, "Oh God! Four of them! You are late! We can't take you now! You'll have to reschedule!" The phone rang before I could respond and she took the call and was on the phone for almost 5 minutes explaining their services, shot requirements, etc. She then hung up and said, "It's 10:20am! You have to reschedule. That's our policy! If your 15 minutes late we have the right to make you reschedule". I explained that I had been standing there 10 minutes and she took a 5 minute phone call. She said, "I'm not arguing with you! You've been cancelled as a NO SHOW!" I then asked for a manager and a lady named Erika came in and said, "I can't make a groomer groom your dog. If she says she won't do it, I can't make her. You need to reschedule." I took the day off work, took the time to load 4 dogs up and drive them all the way there, after waiting two weeks to get on the schedule and because this groomer is too lazy to groom 4 dogs, I am turned away. I could see her behind the two way mirrored glass door. She saw me standing in the lobby and waited on purpose then took the phone call and said our policy is 15 minutes and we have the right to turn you away. I have waited in the lobby before for over 30 minutes just to drop my dogs off when the groomers were busy with other dogs and customers. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Not to mention that Janet was extremely rude and unprofessional. To be so lazy that you stand there watching a customer with 4 dogs waiting and then to argue, scream, yell, and be rude to a customer is unacceptable. Petco should fire her, not only for not fulfilling the company's core values of treating customers and their pets with dignity and respect, but for violating the golden rule of customer service, that the customer is always right. She is a terrible representative of Petco and should be fired. This is not the first time this has happened with her. The last time I took them in she tried to cancel me saying I only scheduled 3 of them, when I had in fact scheduled all four. She said I had to reschedule. I said well can't you do the three you show scheduled? And she tried to say No when a manager named Kaity walked in and asked what the problem was. She looked in the computer and in fact all 4 were scheduled. It's like Janet doesn't want to work. She should find a new job then. She doesn't realize what people do to schedule their pets, take time off work, make arrangements to get them there and not know how long its going to take so wait nearby for hours, then pick them back up and transport them back home. A lot goes into planning for our pets and for an unprofessional, lazy, rude groomer to be able to say, "Sorry you have to reschedule" because she doesn't feel like working that day, is a travesty! I have heard bad reviews about her before and Petco keeps her employed. If Petco is that desperate for groomers that they have to keep someone like her employed then they shouldn't offer this service. If more people would write honest reviews about Janet, I'm confident Petco would take appropriate action and respect the public/customers time and hard earned money by not employing someone like Janet again! read more
