Wow! They did such am amazing job watching our two dogs over a long weekend. They not only took great care of our animals, but they watched over our house too. Very trustworthy and they came to our house three times a day to play with the dogs, refill food/ water bowls and even picked up the dog droppings in the yard. Everyday they wrote down notes on how the dogs were that day. They even texted us throughout the weekend to let us know everything was going well. Even though my chihuahua is completely bipolar (His alter ego had been named "Frank" by Marianne and her crew) and can be the nicest sweetest little dude one minute and a total @$$ the next, he is still so very well taken care of, loved, and played with. I absolutely love Marianne and her staff! They are not only reliable, but they are trustworthy. I'm never home when she/they come by. In the warmer months they go for 30 minute walks, in the winter time, she stays inside and plays with them and lets them go potty in my backyard. When I go out of town, she will come by morning, noon, and night to let them out, feed and water them. She sometimes will fill my water dish if I didn't realize it was running low. She is so unbelievable with my pets, I really don't even know how to express it. She has such a strong love and devotion to animals... Sometimes I will take in foster dogs, and she will take just as wonderful care of them as well. She walks all of the dogs together, plays with them all together, and doesn't charge me extra. Santa is going to be good to her this year.

My cat is very sweet, but is very shy and when new people come to visit she always runs to the basement to hide, but when Eve came to do a walk through Butters was still around upstairs wanting to inspect the newcomer. After leaving for our vacation Eve sent me a text everyday and a couple of adorable pictures! It assured me that my house and cat were safe. I started working a 9 to 6 job, and needed to figure out something to get him some activity in the middle of the day. Ashleigh responded to my email inquiry immediately with options for a free consultation at my house to meet my dog. She is very easy to get ahold of, and flexible with scheduling. She came over, met Paisley, and was willing to work with him despite his growling at her and being distrustful. She spent 90 minutes with me, answering a ton of questions, explaining all kinds of things about dogs she has learned in her years of experience working with them, and familiarizing me with Puppin' Around's policies/procedures. She walked me through everything I would need to do to prepare Paisley for walks with her. She has put up with constant texts and calls from me, especially the first day she was going to my house to walk Paisley. Her fees are extremely affordable, especially considering the amount of time she puts into her clients. She has also been EXCELLENT with Paisley. One and done, never again. Pet came home and started showing symptoms of kennel cough (ended up…read morehaving it for 2 weeks). Called this location to report it and they downplayed it and weren't bothered by it. I'm sure plenty of other dogs got it too as there were over 20 in the same playroom that day. We took our dog here for a meet and greet couple hour play time. Two days later we dropped her off for a full day. Sadly she got kennel cough. Only place should could have gotten it from as she had no other contact with dogs for weeks before. This location looked promising with the large indoor and outdoor play areas (multiple inside). But seeing how the staff reacts to things that occur is pretty bad. If a dog is deemed to be "acting up", they put it in a crate where it can look out at all the other dogs playing around it. Really bad for the dog's mental state. We also saw that when dogs have bathroom accidents indoors, it ends up right on the foam flooring and stays there for a little while until it's cleaned up. No wonder the place smelled like urine going in. Dogtopia seemed highly rated going in and the staff we talked to were very information and friendly, but our one and only experience with our dog in the daycare facilitity was all wrong. Luckily our poor pet recovered relatively quick for a younger dog having kennel cough but she was miserable for the first few days.

Buyer beware. Please, please read reviews of this place with an open mind. Bottom line, poorly trained (or just don't care) staff. High energy, fun loving dogs do not apply. When Bloomfield Hills complains about my high energy dog and demands that I come and pick her up mid-day, I mention I'll try the Birmingham location. Their response ... that location agrees with us. What ??? I guess they forget, Dogtopia, you're not the only game in town. Consumers who love their dogs do have options and Dogtopia is not one of them. If you love your dog like we do, they're family, do not take them to either of these locations.
