My hubby and I travel a lot, and we don't have anyone who we can trust to care for our four kitties…read more(at least not anyone who lives close by). Thankfully, there's PetCare AuPair! We have been using their cat sitting services for about two years now, and we are so happy that we found them. PCAP is composed of a staff of friendly, real people who really love animals. Each and every visit is carefully documented and they always leave cute comments about how the cats are doing and what they're up to. Upon request, the staff is even accommodating about sending pictures to keep us updated. We love receiving the pictures while we're away! We feel we've really built a trusting bond with this company, and we will continue to use their services for years to come. When you're away from home, you don't want feel stressed about whether your furry family members are okay... with PCAP, we always feel very assured that the kitties are in good hands, so we can relax and have a good time on vacation. I can't recommend them enough!

This company was a God-send!…read more Over the holidays, I was in need of some one to watch my Lab mix doggie for 10 days. I absolutely did NOT want to put her in a kennel. I wanted to her to be in her own environment (I'm one of those people that view their dogs as part of the family and my husband and I like to refer to her as our "fur-baby", so yes, we are over protective dog-parents). All my friends who normally would have watched her- couldn't, due to the fact it was over Christmas and New Years- Panicking, I did a quick search on Yelp and found this place. I saw they have good reviews, so I emailed the owner, Meghan Gilliatt, and she emailed me back right away (um, amazing service!) She was able to answer all my questions and concerns. We set up a free consultation with the manager, Laurie. She came over to our house and right away we knew that the people who work here, love pets! Our dog immediately loved Laurie (after all dogs know right away if some one is a doggie-lover) We set up our doggies visits while we were away. While we were gone, the employees sent me text updates with pictures every day! They also fill out a daily visit "report card" so you know everything that went on for each visit. I loved that even though we were far away, our dog was happy in her own home and getting so much love! This is a fabulous company and they have so many options and services that really cater to your needs. I will be using them again! :D

One and done, never again. Pet came home and started showing symptoms of kennel cough (ended up…read morehaving it for 2 weeks). Called this location to report it and they downplayed it and weren't bothered by it. I'm sure plenty of other dogs got it too as there were over 20 in the same playroom that day. We took our dog here for a meet and greet couple hour play time. Two days later we dropped her off for a full day. Sadly she got kennel cough. Only place should could have gotten it from as she had no other contact with dogs for weeks before. This location looked promising with the large indoor and outdoor play areas (multiple inside). But seeing how the staff reacts to things that occur is pretty bad. If a dog is deemed to be "acting up", they put it in a crate where it can look out at all the other dogs playing around it. Really bad for the dog's mental state. We also saw that when dogs have bathroom accidents indoors, it ends up right on the foam flooring and stays there for a little while until it's cleaned up. No wonder the place smelled like urine going in. Dogtopia seemed highly rated going in and the staff we talked to were very information and friendly, but our one and only experience with our dog in the daycare facilitity was all wrong. Luckily our poor pet recovered relatively quick for a younger dog having kennel cough but she was miserable for the first few days.

Buyer beware. Please, please read reviews of this place with an open mind. This Birmingham…read morelocation and the Bloomfield Hills location are the absolute worst when it comes to what should be their core business ... dogs! Bottom line, poorly trained (or just don't care) staff. High energy, fun loving dogs do not apply. When Bloomfield Hills complains about my high energy dog and demands that I come and pick her up mid-day, I mention I'll try the Birmingham location. Their response ... that location agrees with us. What ??? I guess they forget, Dogtopia, you're not the only game in town. Consumers who love their dogs do have options and Dogtopia is not one of them. If you love your dog like we do, they're family, do not take them to either of these locations.

I had really high hopes for taking my dog Sasha here…read more Unfortunately the experience fell very short. Let's start off with the most alarming (and yes, Sasha passed evaluation and was invited back): I tuned in to watch the camera in Room 1 from time to time and was disturbed every single time I dropped in to watch. 1. Another dog attempted to mount/hump her with no intervention from the staff member multiple times. I saw Sasha defend herself and push the other dog away with her paw at least twice. A pair of doodles actually ran up to intervene on one of the several occasions. 2. The hygiene of the play area is disgustingly atrocious. The dogs are allowed to urinate anywhere and everywhere. But what's worse is that a mop that just gets rung out gets used over and over and over again. Not rinsed or dipped in the bucket, just rung out and reused, Gross. I WATCHED this and was shocked. As soon as I picked her up, she smelled like she was drenched in stale urine. I immediately had to bathe her. And she's not a small dog! It was absolutely disgusting. Needless to say, highly inconvenient to need to bathe her right afterwards. 3. It was a beautiful day and one of the few left as we head into colder weather. The dogs got absolutely no outside time. What was the actual point in telling new customers about these outdoor features that none of the dogs were able to access. 4. Sasha is not new to dog daycare and does very well socially. Dogs in general are fairly intelligent. Sasha sat off to the corner by herself (as did a few other dogs, so not bizarre), but I noticed the dog monitor never approach or greet Sasha. Only walking past slinging a pee soaked mop and obviously counting down the dread of her job. The body language and lack of engagement, enthusiasm, and energy was incredibly apparent. Read: ppl that do the job to get a check vs enjoy working with pets. 5. This place inside reminds me of those tv prison yards. Perhaps I'm guilty of being overly attentive, but when it's a new place, I'm careful and vigilant. Quite a few of those dogs looked so so depressed. As though they were serving a prison sentence. And yes, there were also quite a few that seemed very cheery w/ a playful demeanor. But this tells me that the dogs are not properly evaluated for either the rooms or needs private play. Which leads me wondering... is this place just a cash grab??? 6. I prefer authenticity over the performative. Both individuals that I met were nice (check in/out), but it felt super manufactured. It was actually odd. Like if I had a dial, I would have turned the forced overt loud kindness from a 10 to 6. It's 2025, just be genuine. 7. The report card is BS. I purposely made no mention of what I saw, bc I wanted to get their version of the evaluation. But after receiving... "[Sasha was a bit nervous, initially, but maintained confidence with a regal like manner...]" -- what is that?!?! Maybe instead just say, Sasha was a bit nervous, she had no issues interacting with the other dogs, but she preferred being alone the majority of the time, we noticed another dog pestering her, she was quiet, but perhaps she will warm up with more visits." Conclusion: this place served the bare minimum. If you're looking for a convenient place to dump your dog for the day, sure, fine. But if you want a clean/hygienic, well monitored place, where your dog can be somewhat simulated and allowed fresh air on a nice day, this place is absolutely not it! And more importantly Sasha didn't like it. Not that I blame her. I'll pay more money for either a higher quality place or at-home care. Such a shame.

After the first experience with each of the other boarding facilities, our dog could not get out of the facility fast enough - and most of the time, he would refuse to go back inside the facility and would not let us leave us for the second boarding. We don't have that problem here. I fully trust my dog's intuition, and I fully trust the staff at AAPR-Royal Oak. We board several times a year - sometimes for a weekend, and every now and then for a full week. It doesn't matter how much time has passed in between visits, each time we show up for boarding we are greeted by the same handful of smiling faces, and they are always so excited to see our pup. And more importantly - he's excited to see them too. We only board overnight (with the daytime play of course), so I can't speak to any of the other available services. And our dog does not require any additional special treatment or services, so I can't speak to that either. I do wish that they were a little more consistent with the after boarding report cards that they send out electronically. It's always nice to get a little more detailed feedback about how boarding went. There are a few specific people who will take that extra few minutes to give us a quick recap if they're the ones bringing him out to us at the end of the stay, and for that I am so so grateful. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my dog here, nor would I hesitate to recommend AAPR- Royal Oak to friends and family.
