If you aren't keeping your eyes peeled for this spot, you might miss it. Angelo's actual store is…read morelocated inside a cute little cottage/barn off the road. This is a meat lover's paradise. The jerky was truly the highlight. The employee let us try all of the jerky samples (generous portions) we wanted, and talked about what kinds of flavors and textures would be best for our tastes. My favorites were the teriyaki turkey jerky and garlic beef jerky. Both varieties have a sweet, tender chew. No dried out jerky here. Make sure to check out the grab and go refrigerators opposite of the cash register. I made sure to grab a bag of smoked bacon ends/chunks which made an absolutely divine addition to my cherry tomato and Marin French Cheese angel hair pasta a few nights later.

If you get the chance to meet him, you'll understand why people talk about him like he's an icon. And the food... wow. The jerky is absolutely to die for. He even told us to stop back by before we headed home because he was making homemade focaccia. We came back, and he wasn't there, but he had the focaccia waiting for us anyway. That small gesture says everything about the kind of person he is. We left with jerky, his amazing garlic horseradish mustard, and summer sausage, and we already can't wait to come back. Next stop will definitely be his deli. Angelo is the real deal, kind, thoughtful, and unforgettable.

My friend Paul and I had the supreme pleasure of speaking with Charlie Hertz at a Yelp Elite event…read morein Seattle, Washington earlier this month. After sampling some of the best meats we had ever had, I happily pledged that I would write an exceedingly favourable review for their meats. And if Zoe's Meats wasn't listed, then I would create an entry! Now, there is no physical storefront for their items but they can be purchased online and at local markets. If you go to their website, you can see where to find them in San Francisco + Seattle. Their company has been around for nearly three years and is eponymously named for the daughter one of the founders. When they sign up any new customers regardless of any size, type or location, they ask for a local school or community programme to receive 1% of their future purchases. Zoe's then works with the schools to use the funds towards developing educational like school gardens and education about good nutrition. They have pledged to deliver their meats to schools at no profit because they wish to eliminate manufacturer marketing and distributor profits. They also want to upgrade the quality of the foods our children are eating. How cool is that! Nitrates are limited in their products. They also try to use only naturally-occurring preservatives whenever they can like celery extract and sea salt, both naturally occurring nitrites. I could continue to extol the virtues of their meats but the proof is in their taste. So check them out or ask your local market if they carry them. It's worth your while. So thanks Charlie for the conversation and the delicious meats! I'm not a rabid carnivore but with easy access to your products, I could easily see that becoming a reality : )

Figured I'd add this review to my list of places to remember and go back to. Really cool spot with an amazing assortment of meats. From duck to quail. Venison to veal. Boar to chicken. Frozen to marinated meats. Jerky, summer sausage, cheese, spices. All kinds of things alongside the unique frozen meat that you won't find in your everyday grocery run. The butchers are hard at work in the background providing excellent quality cuts to their customers (and no, the store doesn't smell like a butcher shop). It's a homey little spot as you go down the driveway that opens up into the parking lot. Great and friendly service. This run I picked up: frogs legs, rabbit, boar sausage, summer sausage. Some of tried in the past, and was craving something unique for the family meals. My aunt is a picky eater who will shy away from such things if she knew what it was. . . so I won't tell her. .

They trim quite carefully and follow your directions to a "t". It's always a delight to open one of the packages (we have them wrap in paper as it stacks better in the freezer) -- almost like a gift these pieces of meat are so beautifully cut. We've really enjoyed their service. Of course, you can just pop into their quaint store and buy some cuts, but we purchase half animals (beef or pork) from nearby Stemple Creek Ranch and then have bud do the cuts for us. The quality of their work is first rate, their communication is excellent, and their price is fair.
