The koi pond is a hidden gem that we loved doing our first look at. Working with Jessica made planning our vision for the day feel so easy. She is so kind, responsive, generous, and professional. She and the team had also worked with many of our other vendors who were local to the area, so we felt at ease knowing everything would go just as planned on such a busy day. We have been happy CSA members of Tara Firma Farms for 3+ years now and highly recommend for anyone…read morelooking for a local, sustainable farm co-op! The eggs are wonderful, delivery prompt, online store very accessible, and they conveniently partner with other local farms to provide veggies + fruit in addition to their sustainable meats (most CSAs will only provide one or the other). We came across Tara Firma initially via online / yelp searches shortly after moving to the Bay Area in 2016. When my husband and I initially started looking into vegetarianism for animal welfare reasons, I suggested we visit a farm that employs best practices of ethically and sustainably raised meat to help inform our decision. Tara Firma offers free educational tours every weekend and so we drove up one day with our 2 dogs (leashed dogs welcome!) and another family with their 3 (non furry) children for a fun Petaluma outing. The tour was informative and our guide was clearly super passionate about their mission. The farm was very beautiful and the lands idyllic -- we loved the fact that the cows were so free range that we could just barely make them out as a tiny dot in the distant hills. We all enjoyed observing the chicken dynamics around their mobile coop with their rooster guard, and they showed us how unperturbed the hens were when removing the eggs from the nest-- evening letting the children carefully take a couple out. Ultimately, we decided to pursue a vegetarian diet (especially after my husband met the pigs there), but we joined the CSA for their eggs and veggie share + cheeses (sourced from partner farms). We also have purchased meat occasionally for visiting carnivore families and friends, as we wanted to ensure if they were going to eat meat -- they were getting it from a farm like Tara Firma that does it in the right way. The best part of the CSA was their pet share as we realized buying offal from this farm would be a great compromise for our dogs (who were rebelling against our plant-based diet experiment) as we just wanted to provide our dogs protein with leftovers / byproduct without creating additional demand on the meat industry. Our pet share included amazing proteins like heart, tongue, cheeks, as well as more indulgent items like liver and kidney. Even the trotters and bones I would use to make broth in order to flavor / disguise our dogs' vegetarian kibble haha :) We also occasionally received some freezer burn meats, which cannot be sold for human consumption but safe (and very drool-worthy) for our dogs! Unfortunately, the pet share program has been discontinued but there are still plenty of diverse offal options in the farm store! Overall, a great local farm to support and highly recommend a visit!

A gem of a human but also someone who knows A LOT about horses and can be trusted with real life, first hand skills. When I approached her about lessons, I was a mid 20 year old not looking for a competitive and high strung barn, which is what Sonoma County is highly populated with. I was still nuts about horses but didn't need the pressure and tension that comes along with showing and timelines. Phoebe charmed me with her lesson horses and comfortable atmosphere, so much so that after I had gotten married I decided to buy my first horse with her assistance! This process was rough, shopping was something I wasn't emotionally prepared for but Phoebe took everything in stride, never rushing me or falsifying the process. Thank god I had Phoebe with me, as I would have just given up. Flash forward, I'm now the proud horse mom of a paint! I would recommend Phoebe to anyone, horse person or complete newbie. My friend organized a private weekday tour and tasting here to celebrate my birthday. Our group of…read more7 had a fantastic time! it started with a presentation on the overview and history of this family farm, then a tour of the cheesemaking facilities and barn where the dairy and beef cows hang out. We met their farm dogs, took photos with the sweet cows, and saw the family working around the property. We then ended with a tasting of their products: cheese, curds, and kefir (all delicious!) Since it was a birthday party, my friend brought a picnic lunch which we enjoyed along with the cheese. We ended by choosing to buy a selection of the cheeses we liked, to take home and share. I was thrilled to find they sell at my local farmers market - I plan to buy more of the Herby Curds when I've run out of cheese next!

While they sell discounted tickets for kids 5-12 and kids under 5 are free, we and all the other families there found the tour to be a real struggle for our little ones. We all felt a little misled about the experience based on the online description. It's a lot of standing very still (in rooms with equipment that shouldn't be contaminated by guests, or next to equipment that has cow poop on it), listening to the owner talk for long stretches. We expected more movement around the farm and time outdoors, instead of something closer to a lecture with a large group in tight spaces. It also ran over time (to 2 hours!) ending with a nice close up visit with the cows and some small cheese samples. We did really enjoy meeting the cows and learning the details of how cheese making works. It is a real labor of love. I think there's a lot of potential here; the Achadinha tour has all the ingredients for an awesome visit but could use some editing. This tour could easily be 30 minutes, an hour tops. We would've liked to stay and buy some cheese but by 1pm we were all starving and fled to find lunch elsewhere. Other parents shared they would've had a great time there on a date, but definitely wouldn't go with small kids again. I'll also flag that they require you to step through a decontamination footbath to go inside the facilities. There were a lot of miserable people in sandals who had to get their feet wet in the chemicals. Closed toed shoes that can get wet recommended for this tour.

The drive up with the greenery and awe inspiring beauty that surrounds this place and the hills especially late afternoon as the sun sets low, the peaceful drive up sets the tone for the experience one is about to have here. I've come here a few times to see it as well as the day before for rehearsal and seeing it on the day of the wedding was unbelievable. The place completely transformed into this wonderful fairy tale enchantment that was perfect for the couple. Absolutely a charming place. They transformed this place from the ceremony with the arbor with pretty floral arrangements and rows of chairs with umbrellas to a full dining delight in round tables, linen, flowers and umbrellas. So so special. And at night with the white lights on the trees and the hanging light above the dance floor was just picture perfect! I also should mention the bridal suite is large enough for the bridal party (and then some) with a makeup/hair artist to get ready in. Thank you so much to the staff who worked here that evening, the coordinator here at Flying Cloud and a big thank you to Julia who was wonderful to work with (at rehearsal and day of wedding), so calm and she made sure everything turned out perfectly for the couple's epic day. I will be reliving my dream wedding for all of eternity and its success was largely due to choosing the perfect venue. Literal perfection. Firstly, the value you get when booking a wedding at Flying Cloud is unmatched. We toured 5 or 6 different venues and Flying Cloud offered the best option by far. They offer coordination day of and for months leading up to the event. This alone was priceless. You NEED day of coordination at a MINIMUM to have a successful wedding and Julia was the best coordinator I could have asked for. We met Julia the first day we toured the venue and over the 10 months of planning met multiple other times and communicated via email/text without issue. Julia provides spreadsheets that keep you on track with planning and that was so helpful! With the price of the venue you also get chairs, tables, umbrellas and countless other items you would otherwise have to purchase or rent. This is a huge value. The space itself is so versatile and there were so many options for ceremony and reception space. My guests raved to me about how the venue was perfect and so beautiful. Everything was clean and well kept. The mature trees and vineyards in the front made for excellent photo backdrops. It was obvious that there is a well oiled wedding machine in place and I benefitted greatly from their experience in event planning. Flying Cloud has an extensive preferred vendor list which at first I thought may be limiting. Let me tell you that vendors don't make it on this list without proven excellence. The only vendor I had an issue with in 10 months of planning was one that was not on the preferred list. I used a DJ, photographer, bakery, florist, officiant and caterer from their list and everything was executed flawlessly. They also handle the rental order for you. We used Heirloom rentals and that was so convenient. We had access to the venue as early as we needed day of, which for me was 8AM. We also had access the day before for rehearsal and to drop off items. I dropped off so much crap (all the florals that I DIY'd, candles and hurricanes, guest favors, polaroid guest books, 2 mirrors, framed photos, potted plants, ladder ball, a ton of alcohol and more. We used 3 cars to take everything) that Julia and her staff had to display and make look good and cohesive, I was amazed how they had time to do it all and never seemed rushed or stressed. Julia also set up a s'mores station and coffee station for us which was awesome! Directly after our ceremony we went back to the bridal suite to sign our marriage license and our signature drinks and appetizers were waiting for us. This is the kind of thoughtfulness that comes with experience and true professionalism! The bridal suite was such a nice space to get ready. It was spacious and Julia had gallons of water waiting for us. There is a refrigerator, a dressing space, lots of natural light, an excellent lighted, mirrored area for hair and makeup artists, a couch, table and chairs. My hair and makeup artists raved about the space. I had 8 people getting ready with me in that space and there was plenty of room. Julia and her team worked their asses off all day for me and I am so grateful! I think she may have secret magical powers. She fielded questions all day, directed vendors, set up the entire space and did so with a smile and while being kind. She made decisions for me when I didn't want to and everything ended up perfect. There is a reason this venue has won many awards. I can't say enough good things. I'd also like to note that time spent at the venue the day before for rehearsal was 1 hour from 9am to 10am Those who may think that having other parties at the venue on the day of their event is intrusive, should consider that they also had to rehearse the day before. There was another event the day after our Saturday wedding and I did not feel anything but excitement for others who are getting to celebrate their event at this amazing venue. Lastly, when planning I appreciated the transparency. I didn't have to jump through hoops to get their pricing and event packages. We spent $9000 for a Saturday in June. Our event ran from 4pm-10pm and I was at the venue to get ready at 8AM.

We increased our knowledge of the animals and of the farm but also got to feed them. We also had the opportunities to get close and personal with them for pictures. They were all friendly and fluffy. I recommend this unique experience for all because if you do not just break your usual pattern to stop and smell the roses or to pet and feed an Alpaca, life will pass by before you know it. We stayed in touch over the next several weeks before settling on an August date. We braved the high temps and winding roads to arrive at the ranch. It's a beautiful space on a hillside and you can see the herd and their guardian llama as you pull into the parking lot. We learned a lot about the alpaca life cycle, fed the boys, and my daughter got to hold and carry a cria. We bought two cute alpaca shaped soaps. We opted to do the 7 wine tasting option and had the delightful experience to taste some varietals side by side from different years. The conversations were engaging and we enjoyed hearing from Dennis and Deb about what led them to this chapter from exclusively training horses and offering clinics to now settling down with rolling hill views of over 630 acres, raising cattle, working horses, and making wine. As an extra bonus, we learned that on the weekends Dennis offers grilled burgers from his homegrown cattle - and it was the best dang burger I've ever had! The Cabernet Sauvignon pairs perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to our next trip to California so we can swing by and catch up - we came as strangers and we left feeling like friends.
