Went to east village Saturday the 13th just to do some browsing around with a few of my friends. We stopped into petals and moss not expecting to buy anything because 1. We had parked so far away & 2. We had planned to do more browsing just enjoying what was around us. I needed a Mother's Day gift still and knew I wanted some plants/succulents but was going to stop by somewhere else, happy I did not! I was able to buy so many little to medium of a variety of plants/succulents to me seemed like a little price! I love supporting small business as I work for a small business! I went to Petals + Moss on a whim the other day as I was passing by. My mom has been whining she wanted to go but she isn't really going into stores right now so we thought I could shop for her when she was in the car. The majority of their selection is outside. When I went they had a special going on. (see photos for details). We got quite a few plants and the lady who helped was more then happy to answer all the questions I had. She also was willing to help my mom even though she was sitting in the car the whole time. Overall it was a great experience. They seemed to have a diverse selection of plants - all of which looked pretty healthy. The inside was definitely cool although they are currently limiting it to two customers at a time due to social distancing. The lady who helped us was wearing a bandanna as a mask and the other person had a cloth mask on. The whole store, while going for that cluttered chic look was very clean. Masks are required per the mandate. I would definitely go back. read more

Great customer service who will help you select the perfect plant, especially if you don't know anything about plants. Everything I've purchased here was healthy and thrived when I followed their directions. Worth a visit if you want to save money on a ticket to the botanical garden. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I asked someone to come to our newly remodeled office to give me a quote and some ideas for plants in our custom made planters. I gave her one of the inserts and asked her to get back to me with some pictures and ideas on what would look best. After about a month with no response, I stopped into the shop to at the very least to pick up our planter because she obviously wasn't going to do what I asked her to do (many calls went unreturned.) She said her boss was on her way to drop it off, when I called the next day she said "she didn't drop it off?" NO she didn't. Needless to say, I've never seen the planter again and had to pay 75 dollars for a new one out of my own pocket. Extremely poor business. If you lost the planter, be honest. read more

This store is quaint and adorable, in the heart of Des Moines' East Village. It's staff is super friendly, not pushy, and incredibly helpful. They go above and beyond service-wise and remember familiar faces. There is truly nothing like it around, in terms service or merchandise. They have super unique, fun plants, and really beautiful, interesting antiques. The art is exquisite and their eye for staging is incredible. It doesn't feel commercialized or "too perfect" in any way, but everything is perfect in its own way. While some items are priced at higher points, there are MANY cost-effective items, allowing everyone to have a part of owner Saley Nong's vision. I've seen her work in designing weddings and truly, everything she touches in gold, and this fun, new store is no exception. I hope all of us Iowans can enjoy this store for years to come. Wonderful and helpful staff, beautiful store, the plants I've bought from them have thrived in my home. Everything very high quality. Plus they are very safety conscious, wearing masks and only allowing a few people inside at a time, but if you can't get in right away there's always a nice selection on the sidewalk to browse through. Saw this place while I happened to be driving by and I noticed how beautiful the plants looked outside. I had been wanting to buy some new plants so I decided to stop in. First of all, this place is just so inviting when you walk in. The place is overflowing with plants and there are lovely cascades of leaves and vines everywhere. It's sort of a small store so there isn't much room to move around but there are plenty of plants to look at. There's also a back room with more on sale. They do a lot of special sale events as well so keep a look out on their Instagram because they post about them a lot. So far I've bought a nerve plant, a pilea, and a few pots from them. They are all reasonably priced as well, nothing too expensive like some other specialty plant stores can get. Love this place! They have a great selection of plants and their employees are so nice and knowledgeable about the plants. I have bought multiple plants from here and I'm not the best at growing plants or keeping them alive and all of them have been thriving for almost a year now! The inside of the store is also very beautiful and they have great deals for their sale items. read more
