She's a Story City native and a UNI grad, and she fully supports and recommends some nearby shops. I especially loved her greeting cards, candles, charcuterie boards, and cookbooks. The shop is in its fifth year and is thriving. I appreciated the fair pricing and overall quality of the products. We will add Des Moines Mercantile to our stops on future visits to Des Moines.

The owner has expanded and this location holds all types of wonderful items from artists from across the country. The selection is not overwhelming but gives you plenty to look through. I will probably be back for Lego earrings or hope someone I know sees this and knows that I like them. Wink wink. I really love the IOWA love this owner has as do the many artists displayed there. I really fell for the prints that were being displayed and some of the IOWA jewelry up to purchase. Lots of unique gifts for someone who has everything. Billy the owner was rude to my wife on the phone multiple times while she asked for status updates. Once the fence was completed he did not do a final walk through and left the post holes unfilled. To top it off, the fence was built a month ago and with thirty mile an hour winds the fence blew over and our dogs ran out of our yard! I would never suggest him not even to my worst enemy. Avoid Billy and capital city femcing!!
