Oh Atomic Garage... it's a shame you don't have more reviews in general... I just had to review you. Atomic Garage is an amazing vintage clothing and vintage store in the trendy area in Des Moines... the owner/manager is super chill and a fun person who takes her vintage clothes seriously. Their selection is awesome and reasonably priced for how rare some of it is. It's definitely a great place to stop in when you're in town... and an even better place to stop in when you need a badass outfit to go to a formal event with. It's super well organized and just an overall fun store to walk around. The only reason I took a star off is because some of the stuff isn't for sale. It's only for rent... and that disappointed me. I don't live in town, so I couldn't rent the incredible options of suits/tuxedos that they sell there. read more

The vintage is definitely priced higher here but that's because they have some great stuff! If you really want to purchase something it's best to look when they're having a sale. There is also an area with clothes that are rental so if you need a last minute Halloween costume you're sure to find something here. The last time I was here I saw a bunch of awesome vintage inspired clothes and bags for sale made by local designers. All in all an amazing collection of vintage stuff inside. Really super cool rental shop. Everything you could or would need or want to create a awesome Halloween costume. I have a friend who has a Who Done It party every so often. I'm always going to Walmart to pick out costume items to meet my part. I wish I would have known about this place long ago. Some items are just for sale, but about everything I look at had a rental price too. It looks as if you can rent by the day, week, or what ever your needs might be. Cassi is so nice and helpful - she makes you feel very welcomed as you peruse the store. It can feel a little overwhelming because there's so much vintage goodness in one spot! But even with the amazing inventory, it doesn't feel crowded and you can still comfortably browse. A great place to check out! read more

I gave them two stars because their selection is really good but the prices are really high. I mean come on $30-$40 for a bland western shirt. Customer serve is hit or miss depending on who is working and their mood. Last time I was in there I was completely ignored by the saleswoman, Cassie I think her name was. Also the store owner, a middle aged gentlemen, yelled at a customer for what seemed like no apparent reason but I don't truly know. Lastly the store had a body odor smell and the excessive amount of dust made my allergies act up. I would recommend Dortheas Closet over them any day. read more
