Handmade, handcrafted, amazing items. I was introduced too this lovely store through a yelp party. This is a new location for this store. The owner has expanded and this location holds all types of wonderful items from artists from across the country. The selection is not overwhelming but gives you plenty to look through. I will probably be back for Lego earrings or hope someone I know sees this and knows that I like them. Wink wink. I really love the IOWA love this owner has as do the many artists displayed there. I really fell for the prints that were being displayed and some of the IOWA jewelry up to purchase. Lots of unique gifts for someone who has everything. This place has a nice charm! Accessories were nicely arranged. I like the way they had arranged different kinds of stuff on the tables on the walls and so on. The owners were super friendly. I talked with them about their passion & how did they came up with such different business idea. Everything in the store was unique & would depict hardwrork. This is one of the coolest places to shop for gifts in town! And now with a fancy new store location! With tall ceilings and a great more spacious place to shop! I love Domestica! If your looking for awesome hand made with love goods, this is your spot! Great cards, toys, books, prints, jewelry, art and so much more! Every time I'm in here I find something cool! They always have great music playing, and they support not only rad national artist like Modern Disaster and Florence Oliver but also local artist like Bozzprints as well! Domestica is sooo cute! If you are looking for a unique gift or piece of reasonably priced Des Moines inspired art, this is your place. It was really hard to contain myself because everything I laid my eyes on, I made a squealing noise fully of delight! One of a kind cards to send to your loved ones? Yesss so many to choose from! Jewelry? So many pretty necklaces and little earrings. Art? OMG I loved it all. Cutesy kitchen items? Squeeeee! polka dotted glassware, bar items, kitchen towels, etc. Everything was seriously so nice. Domestica is an awesome little shop to visit. I came across it on a trip to Des Moines. Over a year later, I ordered prints from the store online. The owner went out of their way to make sure I was happy with the purchase before sending it. I had a great experience both in store and online. The East Village is a cool place, and Domestica is my favorite store in East Village. They are my go-to for gifts, poster prints, and handmade jewelry. From that description - don't think they're like that cheesy gift shop that your grandma likes to go to. They're funky, edgy(?), etc. and if your grandma does go there, then she's the cool grandma on the block. I've stopped by lots of times and whether I'm making a purchase or just looking, the staff is friendly and helpful. read more
