First, I just have to say after reading the review posted 3 years ago - why are you bringing your dog with you to Pet Value where there are two cats whose home it is? Would not your dog do the same thing in his/her own home? I do hope the dog was not hurt, and certainly do hope the cats were not hurt in their own home, but you cannot blame the cats or the owner(s) of the store. They have a right to give a home to any cat(s) or dog(s) and the cat(s) and/or dog(s) have a right to a home, and you should know that some small pet stores do that. It is far more important that the two cats have a home than for one quick trip to Pet Value you bring your dog. The dog, if not, should certainly have been on a leash and not running around. If the dog was barking or doing anything that the cats felt threatened, then what do you expect? No one else made the same complaint as you so I have to wonder. A lot of cats AND dogs will be defensive, if they are not sure about things. Even if your dog was on a leash. Check things out first before you take your dog to a store. Others count too. This store does not have washing or grooming even. These cats were in their home, not just dropping in. I have seen dogs who are just dropping in stores attack each other, imagine if it were their homes?
Maybe we all should just allow the smaller pet stores to give homes to cat(s) dog(s) and leave pets at home for those particular short errands, unless there are very special circumstances (a sick pet etc.). Better than having to put cat(s) or dog(s) in a cage in their own home every time a pet visitor steps in. Leave your pet at home for those very few times, rather than put another pet through that. Ridiculous and very unfair. Some stores should simply just not allow customers to bring their pets unless special circumstances.
I love animals, cats and dogs, and all, we had a family dog loved him so much, I had a cat loved her so much, and I now have two cats love them so much. The dog and cats were just as smart, loving, affectionate, funny, playful, etc. as each other. There is an idiocy out there with some people with a dogs vs cats or cats vs dogs attitude. To those people - if you can do that then it is quite obvious to me that you do not truly understand your pet, do not truly love your pet but love yourself too much.
Anyway, I came on this site to do a review and happened to read that review and could not believe the selfishness, so I just had to comment.
My review: I have been going to this store for many years - friendly owners, all three of them, the fellow, woman, and beautiful cat. Clean, well stocked, a good variety of products, lots of choices. A few products here and there should be more better investigated if really good/safe for pets even though I realize that is not their individual faults. All pet stores have those things, it is the mommies and daddies of pets that have to watch out, but it would be helpful if even all pet stores did with all products. read more
