The West Springfield Pet Supplies Plus may seem unassuming, but the grooming staff here are truly exceptional. We've used grooming services at various locations, but this one stands out. Unlike other stores that struggle with staff turnover and appointment availability, this location consistently delivers quality care. Most recently, our dog was groomed by Michael. He treated her with such kindness and respect--gently grooming her, remembering that she'd been thirsty when I dropped her off, and showing great patience and care with our senior pup. What he didn't know was that she had aggressive cancer and passed away just four days later. During those last days, I was so thankful she had been freshly groomed. She was clean, comfortable, and beautiful--able to leave this world with dignity and grace. Michael played a part in that, and I'm deeply grateful. He is exactly the kind of employee who deserves recognition--for his skill, his empathy, and his humanity. As soon as you walk in you see the birds, not only are they in cages that are WAY too small for them, they also have too many in one cage, the water was filled with poop and the food needed to be replaced. I don't live in the state or I would have rescued the beautiful and sweet conure, who is just begging for attention, love, enrichment, and a good home, as are all the other poor birds and animals in there. Please advocate for these animals to be accommodate better than that. It's heartbreaking The young man who helped me was friendly and everything, but that made me so sad to leave those animals. read more

I was greeted when I came in which made My day because I was in two stores before that and nobody said a word and seemed upset for working. The store was nice and clean. My ONLY issue was I witnessed a Supervisor toss keys to an employee behind the register and they fell on the floor and the Supervisor saw it fall and walked away. That is not how You treat employees. (Other places are selling "Giant Mealworms" that are so tiny, he doesn't even think it's dinner-time, let alone snack-time!) They have the best sales & perks to card-members (including a price-match guarantee)!~ In addition, their knowledgeable, kind, helpful, & no-hassle staff takes the extra time to help me make a decision on a new tank purchase (even to help me find what I want online, since they stopped carrying it). I am a new customer to this store, my first experience was great. I was assisted by a store associate who was pleasant, very informative about fish, aquarium she even went as far as to take time to explain the process on setting up a tank. We were so taken by her that we said we would come back to purchase our tropical fish when the tank was ready. The first visit we purchased a led light for our fishtank, unfortunately it did not fit. Today we made a trip back to the store to return the led lamp and to purchase our fish. The return went well but unfortunately what happened next was not. We waited by the fish tanks for someone to help us and no one showed. I walked over to the woman at the register if she could call for someone to help us. I heard her talk into her ear piece, we waited 10 minutes no one showed. On our way out the door I stopped by the register and told the cashier that we were leaving as it had been 10 minutes and no one came over to help. She said ok and watched us walk out. First, I would like to preface by saying we drove all the way from Granby, Ma just because of the excellent customer service experience we received on our first visit. Bypassing 3 closer pet stores which were much closer to our home The lady who helped us was not in today, we were little disappointed as we were looking forward to her help. It is much unfortunate that the staff that were there had no interest in helping us out. There was just one other customer waiting it was not busy at all. Very disappointed in the lack of customer service. We will not be back again. read more

My last review was in 2016 when things were great with Pet Supplies West Springfield. Since then the West Springfield store has had a huge staff turnover and seems to continue with staff attrition accompanied by negative influences from a corporate buy-out. This store is now corporately owned. Thumbs-down! I miss the old staff and it does impact the store environment and not for the better. The store in and of itself is fine. No complaints, however I had a question earlier 2018 and "Kelly, Neighbor Services" was inept. I reached her by filling out the online form so I can only presume she's at corporate. Pet Supplies Plus does not have a customer service phone#, so online is the only way to reach-out. Because of my bad experience with Kelly, including her not replying to a follow-up question I had and providing inaccurate info where she later came back to correct herself, I have boycotted Pet Supplies for the past few months and took my business to a well known locally owned pet/feed store in Westfield, MA. Continuing....PSP recently mailed me a $10 off coupon for $50 or more. I wanted to purchase a 30# bag of Taste of the Wild Wetlands. MSRP is $48.99 ($49). Not quite $50. If I used my PSP card it would come to $47 sale price. Called the store to ask if they'd work with me on using the $10 off. The team member was very nice, but said NO, corporate doesn't allow it anymore. Store staff used to be able to push through a deal, but no more. It's either dead on $50 or more, or no deal. I don't blame him, he's backing corporate policy, but this reiterates PSP customer service that begins at the corporate level IS HORRIBLE and it can impact patronage to a store. The motto is "hassle free". Since early spring all I've encountered with PSP corporate level policy is hassle. It's nice to shop for dog food on E-Bay when there's a really good deal and get hassle free service. For a big corporately owned business like PSP, does $2 or $3 or less really make that big of a difference in their bottom line? Isn't it better to pull people into the store vs encourage them to go elsewhere? Since PSP was bought-out things have deteriorated, including no more PSP card member pet birthday specials. Corporate did away with that. My K9's birthday we would always get a PSP freebie. I don't even get PSP e-mails anymore and nobody at the store or corporate can figure out what the issue is despite me updating my online account. So....my boycott continues. It's too bad. I've shopped PSP since the store opened in the 90s. I miss the days when the customer was valued. read more

I say A-Ok because the Managers there are awesome, and some of the staff. I stress the word some. The younger staff seem to be on point when it came to knowing their stuff while the mature staff were just annoyed you even asked where the dog food was located. Its sad since this place has great prices, its clean and well kept and the Managers have proven to be really professional and thoughtful to their customers. read more

Be aware! Inexperienced dog grooming. Asked for my dog to be shaved, bad call on my part. Figured w/the record heat and humidity, it was an ok idea. Not at Pet Supplies Plus in W. Spfld. My dog looks ridiculous! On top of that, he now not walking because the pads of his feet hurt. The women was inexperienced and as a "Professional Dog Groomer" she should have advised otherwise. If I could reverse the experience my pooch has had, I would. I feel awful for him and will never return......be aware! read more

I come here often for dog treats, so my review is mainly for the canine department. They have one of the largest collections of animal byproduct based treats in the area. It may gross some people out but my dog loves pig's ears and natural bones. This place has a really good selection at reasonable prices. One tip though. Don't get the hooves. Natural animal hooves stink when the dog chews them. read more
