Now that Sam has been to Groomsville a few times I can say they really deserve their great Yelp reviews! The place is spacious and busy, a good sign right away. The owner Pete is a real dog lover and a stand up guy. It was easy to schedule an appointment, plenty of parking out front, and they even confirmed the night before. I love that dogs can socialize with others rather than being locked up in cages like sad prisoners. Groomsville separates the little guys from the big ones for safety. I was so nervous about trying a new place, but when I picked Sam up he looked beautiful and perky. And I was pleasantly surprised that pricing was reasonable and they take credit cards. My dog looks great and I'm one happy dog mommy!

GPS will bring you next door to this location so be aware of that. First thing you'll notice upon walking in is a bunch of tiny dogs running around behind the front desk, all exquisitely groomed. Very curious and friendly faces. Kristie herself is extremely professional and friendly, you can see this isn't a job but a passion. Results were way better than could have even anticipated, especially since we didn't give direction on how to trim. Highly recommend this groomer. The front desk seemed a little all over the place but Kristie still came out to speak with us and go over everything. Two hours later our pup was ready and looked absolutely handsome! While the waiting area is a bit cramped they do tell you two hours so you're free to run errands and come back. There is also a porch out front if you absolutely must wait. Prices are fair and they're very transparent as to why the grooming cost what it did.

Additionally they tried to add back in a $15 fuel surcharge which they did remove. The groomer then said her ears needed to be cleaned and nails done which was not the case as the vet had already did that. Lastly because of the last minute increase, I said to cancel the upgraded treatment, which the groomer claimed was only $10 less when I was quoted a $15 price. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the pricing change and asked the groomer to have the owner call me, but i never heard back. The groomer did do a good job, but I will not return.

Unfortunately the care and service at VCA East Meadow has gone waaay downhill. A previous review…read morecalling them heartless, apathetic and incompetent says it all. My senior dog Sam was losing weight and coughing. Sam was misdiagnosed and subjected to numerous pricey tests (and re-tests) over months at VCA; all tests were "inconclusive" so no treatment was initiated. At VCA one must call for test results during the two hours 9:00 to 11:00 AM ONLY. Even though I stuck to those two hours the vet was NEVER available to get on the phone, nor were any of my calls returned in a timely manner, so vital treatment was further delayed. Finally I was told that Sam "may" have a kidney issue. When I asked for a treatment plan the vet simply said to feed him senior dog food, when I asked what kind he replied "any kind is fine after all he's a senior dog." Totally unprofessional and useless reply! The last straw was when Sam began limping and coughing badly a few days ago. I was worried so called VCA, only to be rudely told that there was no vet available to see him. I offered to wait by the phone and come in anytime that day or the next day, but no dice. Zero concern over a long term customer and her frail dog! Actually it turned out to be fortunate that VCA refused to see us b/c I quickly took Sam to another local vet (separate review) who DID give me a same day appointment. The new vet took X-rays and diagnosed Sam's cough and lethargy as mitral valve heart disease - NOT a kidney issue - that could have been fatal very soon. This heart issue should have been caught during the NUMEROUS exams conductrd by VCA staff but wasn't. Thankfully our new vet is very professional and gave us Sam's test results immediately - yay! - then dispensed proper meds. to lessen his symptoms and prolong his precious life. Sam is doing much better now - no thanks to VCA.
