I've been using D'Ann's services since 2013. Guess I should have done a review before now. She has always been available and my pets have always been well taken care of. She's even been stuck with chaos and mess that a visiting dog created. The dog was added on to the job at the last minute. No extra charge. No complaints from her about the chaos. I consider this a good value because we have had two or 4 dogs at a time. Kenneling two dogs is too much for us plus my dogs get to be home. They are so stressed at a kennel. I get to walk out the door without the hassle of getting the dogs to a kennel and picking them up. 7+ years and never had a problem. Where to begin First of all I wouldn't even give one star to this business. I meet and interviewed with the owner D'Ann in Oct of 2013, she was very nice and professional, my dog Bella liked her as well I hired her to sit my pets "two cats as well" over Thanksgiving from Nov 26th - Nov 30th for a total of 13 visits. I had everything set up to make her job easy and thank god I did as she only made it to my house once, much to my surprise she sub contracted another dog sitter to do her job someone I never meet and my Dog had never been around. When the new sitter come to take care of my pets my dog Bella wouldn't come out from under the bed I found this out from D'Ann on the 27th after i tried to get in contact with her via texts and phone calls many many many times. She did contact me by phone once I told her my friend was going to meet her on the 27th to give her a hand, after receiving the text about my friend coming she did call me and told me she had to hire someone to take care of my pets and she was out of town due to a death in her family but after the many texts and phone calls I didn't believe her if it was something as unfortunate as a death why didn't she call me right away and not lead me to believe she was there the hole time. Thank god my friend stepped in and took care of my babies. DO NOT TRUST YOUR PETS WITH THIS PERSON!!!!! However i do have to tell you she did refund my money in full but I would never use her again. read more

I had the ttake care of cats? I have 4. Paid for 7 days. Not bad, 175.00, except they didnt come everyday. My housekeeper came and alerted me they had no water and their, five oversized litter boxes were filled with urine and feces. Even my housekeeper was disturbed. She comes in twice a week, Monday and Friday, obviously no one was here all week. My poor kitties. We were gone all week. Tip: Always leave a toilet bowl open, sounds gross but could save their life. So unprofessional ! Would NOT recommend to anyone! It is unbelievable the way she communicates to prospective clients. She was told from the very beginning where the location was that would be needing services, agreed to do so, and the day I left on my trip, she claims she thought I lived in a completely different area of Houston that I never mentioned once! She felt so unreliable I cancelled and had to make last minute arrangements once I landed in another city thousands of miles away! Her response - "ok good because I don't come out there anyway." A few years ago I arranged to have a pet sitter from Pet Sitters n' More come to my house, spend the night, take care of my dog for over a week. The agreement was she would show up between 6 and 8 pm, spend the night, leave after 7 am if she needed, feed the dog twice a day, give him his medicine and walk him 3 times a day and be back to start again. We paid a pretty penny too. If it weren't for the fact that we were showing our house, and our realtor came on property a couple of times, our dog would have starved to death. The sitter clearly never showed up based on what messes were left for the realtor, didn't feed our dog, didnt give him water (our the realtor did) and subsequently didn't stay over. The dog was ragged, emaciated and scared to death when we got home from our 9 day vacation. The sitter's bed hadn't even been slept in even though it was written into our agreement that the sitter would stay over. Spoke to the owner and naturally she denied there was any kind of a problem because no one complained previously. Wouldn't even come talk to us face to face. The sitter never returned any of our calls either after the 2nd day of our tril. Other animal owners probably didn't know or have proof of a witness like we did to see that their poor animals were not being cared for. These greedy women collected a check and left our dog to fend for himself. I would never reccomended this business for any reason. read more

I wish I could give this company zero stars. After emailing the owner (D'Ann) to ask about long-term pet sitting and just get some general info, I was rather shocked to receive a curt, two-sentence reply, which ended with "Yes, we're awesome but we do charge for our awesomeness." I could not believe her unprofessionalism. There was no "hello!", "thank you for contacting us" or "I wish we could help you out, but..." (although she didn't even ask about the situation). Seriously?! This is how you talk to potential customers? I don't think so. After I received her message, I went in to look up additional reviews on her business and was mortified to see what people had experienced with this company! Thank God I was put off by her from the beginning; I would NEVER trust my pets with this woman or anyone working on her behalf. Ever. read more

I am new to the Houston area, and had to find a pet sitter for 4 days that I was out of town. I decided to check the alarm system records to ensure that my dogs were getting the attention I had paid for. ALARMING!! The sitter never showed up the first day. And on the four visits actually made (6 were scheduled) it was for 5 to 7 minutes. No walking, no playing, hardly time to even pass out treats. I had met the sitter before I left my dogs in her care and my first impression was that she was reliable and actually cared about my pets . I was deceived. I would recommend NO ONE leaves there animals in this type of care. If you have used any sitter in the past, I would recommend looking at your own alarm records and see what type of care your pet actually received. To the credit of the owner: I did bring this to her attention and received a prompt and satisfactory response. She sounded as disgusted as I was. She refunded me 100% and also would be letting the sitter go. read more

I was genuinely pleased with my experience with Pet Sitters 'N More. D'Anne was courteous and concerned about making sure my calico cat, Alice was well cared for. When I returned, Alice was as content as always. Since Alice is an indoor/outdoor cat, she got into a skirmish with an alley cat from my neighborhood in West University Place earlier this week and had a scrape that needed medication to heal. The wound had been carefully cared for during my absence and Alice was her usual sassy, happy self when I returned. Thanks for a job well done. I will gladly call again if I need pet sitting. A few years ago, prior to Yelp's creation we hired D'Ann and her contractor, Rebecca Self. I want to warn others now that I can. If I could give minus stars and sue for neglect I would. Rebecca Self was supposed to stay at our house and take care of our dog for a week. We arranged for her to sleep at the house nightly and spend significant time with our dog every day and night including walking him. Not only did she not stay one time at the house, she did not check on our dog more than once or twice over that entire period. If we had not been showing our house we never would put it all together that she was not feeding, watering or taking our dog outside to the bathroom. We ended up asking our real estate agent to check on the dog but we had already been gone 5 days when this came to light! We are very fortunate this didn't end up worse than a traumatized, starving and dehydrated dog. He was still a loving dog but much more skiddish after this experience. D'Ann didn't believe us, was very rude, refused a refund and blindly believed her employee even after offering to ler her talk to our real estate agent. We used Pet Sitters 'N More one time, so far - during the Thanksgiving holidays of 2013 for a week. Mabel is our 18 year old kitty and she was well taken care of including daily thyroid medications given. I received quick text messages back when I texted the owner, D'Ann Gummelt, on updates on Mabel. We will use her again next time we plan a trip. read more

Did not follow instructions and left dog outside this past Thanksgiving...pool vacuum destroyed ($500.-), a dozen sprinkler heads chewed up ($350.-), numerous plants and landscaping destroyed... Kis toys, BBQ grill cover etc... needless to say I do not recommend. read more

I agree...the first few visits were for only two days. It seemed everything was done. D'Ann commented that i left 5 pages of directions. I left two. I have birds, and aquarium and 3 black cats. My cats have a special diet that has to be followed. i guess she doesn't realize I was trying to make things clear to her and explain why these steps were necessary. Of course, she didn't read them, because I explained the litter paper shreds had to be changed via the vet. She passed by it everyday and it was in my notes. She doesn't like instruction. I did not mention my cats were happy to her. My cats behave distantly when we leave them alone. We have to cuddle them to make up for our absence. I was over whelmed that she didn't change the littler....the litter was already shredded for her use. Also, if you try to call D'Ann on her given cell phone to check on your pets, as I had a sick one, she won't answer your call.She couldn't work in the real world with a boss, a team or follow instructions as would be required where I worked in the Operating Room doing Neuro surgery. So as to her response, it had no effect on me. She was just defending herself instead of admitting to her mistakes with humility. So those of you who are happy with her keep her. I have acquired Vet Interns to take care of my pets when they are needed. read more
