But when I asked again about adopting a younger Basset Hound, I was flatly told that any application I submitted would be rejected simply because of those stairs. As someone who has owned and loved Basset Hounds for most of my life, I fully understand the challenges stairs could pose for a senior dog. But to automatically decline a dog a warm, loving home due solely to the presence of stairs is not only absurd--it's completely out of touch with what matters most: the welfare of the dog. This policy feels as senseless as it is backward. Instead of placing dogs in homes with experienced, caring owners, this rescue seems to be creating needless roadblocks. It makes me question if their priority is really the well-being of the animals.

Basset Buddies Rescue is full of volunteers who truly care about what is best for the dogs they…read morehave in their care. I applied to adopt one of their rescues in November of last year. There is an application form followed by a phone interview and finally a home visit to make sure that where the dog is going is a safe environment. They made sure I understood the specific personalities of Basset Hounds and took time to answer the questions I had. These wonderful people take in dogs that shelters would typically deem unadoptable. The boy I adopted was a senior, estimated about 10 years old, had been abused and was very thin due to neglect. He was rescued with his sister who had been a caged breeder dog her entire life and didn't even know how to walk on a leash. Basset Buddies drove close to Austin to rescue the pair and put them in foster homes and by the time I got my boy, he was on the mend, gaining weight and starting to trust people again. I decided to foster his sister and when she came to me after a few months at another foster home she had already learned manners to live inside a home and walk on a leash. These two babies continue to amaze me every day. After being treated so terribly their entire lives they are so willing to give and receive love. Had Basset Buddies not saved them I have no doubt they would have been victims of a kill shelter because of their ailments. Basset Buddies gave them a second chance at life. I follow their website and it always touches my heart to see the helpless dogs they take in and see them transform into happy, loved pets.

I expected so much more for such a steep price. Not sure how this place is still in business, but perhaps it was just me and my pets that got screwed over.

Very disappointed with this local franchise of Bark Busters that claim such a vaunted reputation spanning several years. We engaged Bark Busters for our dogs' (2) behaviors. In discussion before the actual training session, we were told we would not have to pay if not satisfied. In later discussion, it was claimed by the trainer, Pat C, that we had been told we had to say we were not going to pay by the very end of the training session, and not any later. Naturally, we disagree over this restriction on timing. We could not get a refund from him. The lesson required making a particular sound which I cannot make for legitimate medical reasons. That, and other items, were never told us before we engaged the lesson. We were told it was a positive raining. It was not. Again, we were not apprised of program components before we engaged the training service. There was very little awareness of what the training involved which could have been, and should've been, explained before. If it is considered proprietary material, then a broad scope of whatever would take place could've been made. It turned out, the methods were not revealed until the session began. As it became revealed, the philosophy was misrepresented. The positivity was not evident in training. It was not cruel, but it was not positive. My wife inquired about what positive would be. She was told he would deal with that later. Never happened. The trainer was pleasant enough, though. By the end of the lesson, why didn't we say anything and decline to pay. First, we didn't know that was when we had to mention it, and the only time, despite what Pat (our trainer) may claim he said. Second, we were so overwhelmed with information and parts of training we were still wondering about, as they had not been addressed, we were sort of mentally "floating" by the end of session. U strongly suggest, given this franchisee's "guarantee," that you do noy pay, and give yourself a chance to think about what you experienced in the training (BTW, this arrangement for the dissatisfied paying/or not by the very end of the training session or not is not a company-wide one. Third, payment is an almost automatic response to pay for a person's labors when the job is done. When we asked for a refund, we were told we had passed the deadline and couldn't get one. I strongly suggest. If you want to consider Bark Busters, particularly the franchisee we had train us, make that you feel comfortable and informed of how the training will be presented and its content. I cannot speak for all trainers, but Pat made statements that weren't kept, did not disclose methods and philosophy beforehand, and only (not enough to make an informed decision) the day prior to the session did we get anything that told us some of the content of the program. The training was incomplete, ineffective, showed no promise, despite the claim of the million dogs that allegedly have trained by this company. However, I cannot make a judgement on the parent company, but only on the way this franchisee presented the material and the way he ran his franchise, and my experience.

While on an overseas trip I trusted them to come to my house 4x a day. I came to discover that they had not been showing up as scheduled and my dogs had gone 11 hours with no one visiting my house. I tried numerous ways to contact the pet sitter directly Via the app, text messages and phone calls as well as calls and messages to the company. I never got a response from the pet sitter until late that evening after I had neighbors go feed my dogs and let them out. The pet sitter said her car broke down and was towed. Not once did she think to inform the company to send a replacement to care for my animals. I also was informed that the pet sitter was acting very strange on the street days prior to the point that the police were called. It took 2 days for the owner of the company to return my frantic phone calls/texts. I didnt have great cell service but was receiving texts as well as messages in the app which I received none from The owner until 2 days after the incident. I found someone else to care for my animals and fired her immediately. I would seriously think twice about using Animal Companions. Especially when you can't get In touch with anyone in an emergency.

I was assured that someone lived onsite and would watch over the dogs at night. However, after just one night, I picked them up early due to serious concerns about neglect and misrepresentation. Here's what I discovered: *My dogs were confined in their suite for over 16 hours with no potty breaks or access to the faux grass area. *Staff admitted they don't wash food bowls between feedings. My dogs eat a raw pork diet, and old meat was left in the bowls overnight, over 14 hours, before being mixed with new food. *Staff ignored handling instructions for my male dog, using a slip collar instead of his pinch collar despite being told he's reactive around other dogs. I called the facility repeatedly the evening of 10/26/25 (over a dozen times) and got only voicemail. No one returned my calls, not even after I picked up my dogs early the next morning and complained to multiple staff about my concerns. I was later told that the "man who lives onsite" simply sleeps there and has nothing to do with animal care. If a medical emergency had occurred overnight, no one would have been available. If you have large or potty-trained dogs, please think twice before boarding them here. The staff do not follow their advertised care routine or basic hygiene and safety standards. My experience was deeply disappointing and concerning for any pet owner who expects proper supervision and humane treatment.
