I bring my two huskies in every year from NYC to stay with Leslie and the PetShack team. It is such a great relief to know they are taken care of, happy, and healthy while I'm visiting family. Might be a nice place, but I won't be returning. Left a reservation online, was charged a deposit, and got a confirmation email. Packed up and ready to go for the weekend, we get there and she tells us that our reservation was declined, and we were notified. We did not receive an email or call. Lady was rude and did not seem sympathetic at all or offer any kind of help. Will not recommend this place to any friends, or return. Big Time Kennel is just down the road, and were so understanding of our situation. They got us in with no notice and were very friendly. The pets have more outdoor access, the grounds are nice, only 21 a day for our dog. Go there instead. read more

This is absolutely the best place in the area to board a pet! There is another one near-by. We went there 4 times a few years ago. Our dog was given back to us with urine soaked feet on three of those days. This is totally unacceptable and we will never go there again. Leslie and her staff at Pet Shack Resort are the best - hands down. Our five year-old miniature Labradoodle, Baxter, loves the place. He gets all excited whenever we are even on Social Row Road because he thinks he is going to see his friends. We stay off of that road unless we are actually going there. He pulls at his leash when he gets out of the car. He is so anxious to get in there. You can, literally, see the smile on his face. He is always safe and happy there and is ALWAYS clean when he is returned to us. We can't say enough good things about Pet Shack Resort. We'll never go anywhere else. read more

Here's the story: Mom is house-sitting / pet sitting for the sister in Dayton. I'm in Cleveland at work and I get a call from some random dude who says he's at the dog park w/ my mom and that she fell and hurt her back. The squad takes mom to the ER and the dog park dude takes Sloopy (the Bull-Terrier) to the Pet Shack Resort. Long story short...mom has managed to fracture her spine due to a mishap of trying to kick the ball for the dogs at the park and the Bull-Terrier getting excited and knocking into mom for what ends up similar to a Charlie Brown moment where she misses the ball and lands on her butt. I fly down (and by fly, I mean speed in my little Corolla) to Dayton as soon as I get the call. Mom's in a brace & high as a kite on Vicodin. Thank God for better living through chemistry. Even w/ my speedy arrival (4 - 5 hours later) I can't get the pooch from the Pet Shack Resort in time for the night and so she stayed at the Resort over night. Normally the Pet Shack doesn't provide food, but considering the circumstances they took care of Sloops and I told them I'd pick her up in the am. Sloopy was VERY happy to see friendly, familiar faces in the morning. But the best part...the Pet Shack didn't charge me for the over-nighter! Hello!? Can you say AWESOME customer care? While I don't live down here or personally have a pooch....I'm recommending the Pet Shack Resort to EVERYONE in the greater Dayton area. They Rock! read more

This place was recommended to us. Have used it twice and will not return. Did a reservation online, it was confirmed, when we went to drop off our dog we asked to pickup a day earlier, attendant confirmed. They still charged us an extra night and did not bath our dog as requested. Leslie was not friendly abut it at all. I have noticed all the high rated reviews are from over 2 years ago. New reviews are not good. Is she tired and letting her business slide? Very disappointed in how we were treated. Poor customer service. read more

I am a new customer to Pet Shack Resort, but now a lifetime customer!! Leslie and her staff are amazing and truly love your pet as their own!! Over Thanksgiving break, my stubborn Retriever decided he was not going to eat his normal dog food! This was the first time we boarded our rescue dog. They are wonderful! You can take blankets for them to sleep on and have your sent. They get to sleep on a cot too. They will text you back if you have questions within a few hours, which made me very happy. Reasonably priced in our area. Plus they are open 7 days a week! I would not recommend Pet Shack Resort to anyone right now. When I picked up my dog she looked like she was tied to a tree for a week sitting in her own feces. She had it everywhere in her hair. I have had the dog for seven years and have never seen this before. They said the reason it was like this was because she has long hair around the rectal area but she had a very short haircut in that area 10 days before we brought her in. The owner doesn't what to take ownership of the problem and is trying to pass the problem onto the client. To her defense she was out of town so the kennel probably was not ran very well that week but no dog should look like that. She claims she loves to call customers but would never call me once to discuss my concern. She would only talk through email. Very poor customer service. read more

Thank you so much to the staff at Pet Shack for their outstanding care of Big Mo. He is not very social and not real comfortable with strangers but somehow they have won him over. Leslie never uses negative words to describe him, she just says he is shy! Love the web cam! Watched them feed Big Mo, so comforting to be able to see him. Our two dogs were boarded for the very first time here years ago and whenever someone mentions needing to board their dog(s) I recommend the PetShack. Reservations online are easy, the reservation/check in process is extremely thorough and they check kennel cough shots are up to date, which I appreciate. Cost is higher than having a neighbor come check on our dogs while we're gone, but the neighbor doesn't clean up poop accidents or ensure they get exercise time or remember to lock up our house, or leave a light on, etc, so it's worth it. read more

This is our second time using this company and now it will be our last. We had been pleased with the level of care they seem to provide for our dog, but are not going to be ripped off in the process. After SPECIFICALLY discussing pick up times, rates, etc for this visit with the owner I went to pick up our dog after a brief one night stay and was charged almost $60. When I challenged the front desk girls on the total (I was initially quoted somewhere in the $25 range) they stated that "you must have been confused- it's like a human hotel we always charge for the day of pick up." Are you kidding me? I have never stayed at a "human" hotel that charges you for the day of check out- nice try. Even if I somehow misunderstood the concept of how much it cost for a one night stay, which is doubtful- what a horrible policy. Will not be returning. read more

We highly recommend the Pet Shack Resort as the best place to host your beloved pups! Our two labs aren't boarded often, so we naturally worry, but we had no reason at all. One of our girls developed a bladder infection, as she sometimes does when she's stressed. They contacted us right away and spent a little extra snuggle time. Both dogs returned to us clean and happy; we will certainly be return customers. read more

The absolute best! It's always hard to leave your dog but Leslie and her capable team do a great job of taking care of your pet. I don't know any other place that lets your dog out to relieve itself so often. My dog is always treated well and I get to see her on the web cam while I'm away! read more

Our precious little Scooter had an abusive history and was not very friendly with other dogs when we first got him at 16 months old. His separation anxiety was so severe that he would bite and scratch at his dog carrier at home until he bled. Poor guy :-( We decided to enroll him at a doggie daycare to help with his anxiety and socialize him a bit while we were at work. Most daycares either did not let the dogs out enough, didn't seem to really care, or they would not accept Scooter because of his behavior. We were SO HAPPY to find the Pet Shack Resort! Leslie and her team always put the best interest of the "residents" first. They let the dogs out more often than any other competitor, keep a very clean and friendly environment, and, best of all, they always give our Scooter the TLC he needs. We have seen huge improvements in his anxiety and socialization since he started at The Pet Shack Resort. There is no one else we would trust our little Scooter with when we are gone. We've even successfully moved from daycare to some overnight boarding when we need it. We never thought that would be possible. Thank you, Pet Shack! We are so happy we found you! :-) read more
