Throughout his time away, Heather sent thoughtful daily "pupdates" that kept me completely in the loop and gave me so much comfort knowing exactly how he was doing and progressing. When I picked him up, we met at a park on a beautiful morning that was packed with people and other animals. Heather spent two full hours running through his new commands, practicing hands-on with me, and answering every question I had. This review is only about how useless she was for us. I own a teeny tiny now 6 month old maltese. He is a good dog for the most part, but about 2 months ago he was a pretty bad leash walker. Regular puppy stuff, 4 mo old puppies usually don't know how to walk on a leash if they've never done it before. He was more like a deflated balloon as soon as we put the leash on him. So I called Angie after reading all these reviews. Enough to say her training methods are not for us. I am all about hippie dippie positive reinforcement, and she's not. She told me about some methods she's had to use with more reactive dogs, which I guess one might need to but I am not comfortable trusting her to walk my dogs. During our consultation when Gustave wouldn't walk by her side, she stomped her foot really hard in front of him and he got really scared. I had never seen him scared like that before this. And guess what? That only made him more crazy, instead of making him walk properly. I still let it continue because she sounded like she knew what she was doing and actually gave her a check for 5 lessons. When we got back from the consultation, Gustave was a different dog, and not in a good way. He was running around aimlessly, being aggressive with us, jumping around, just the opposite effect of what a training lesson should be. So I called it off and ended up paying just $200 for the initial consultation. The only thing I got out of those $200 was knowledge of what kind of trainer I don't want for my dog. Btw, I waited 2 months to write this review because now Gustave walks perfectly on a leash, without any forceful training methods (and this was after we took a 2 week break in between after his neuter). This makes me feel confident to say if your dog is not an overly reactive dog and you're just looking for a trainer to correct minor issues, this dog trainer might not be the one for you.

We enrolled Poppy, our 4 month old puppy at the time, in their 10-day reverse board-and-train program. I wasn't expecting her to come out perfectly trained in 10 days, but I did expect the level of intensive training they advertised on their site. The trainer we got was sweet and had a calm energy, which I liked since Poppy was skittish around new people. But the actual training didn't come close to matching what was promised. We have security cameras at home, so I could see exactly what was happening while we were gone. Most days were only 5-10 minutes of actual training. The rest of the time the trainer was watching TV or on her phone. If we'd wanted someone to watch TV with our puppy, we could've asked a neighbor for free. By the end of it, Poppy knew "sit" and "down" and not much else. The separation anxiety and potty training work we'd specifically talked about before signing up hadn't really progressed. I want to be clear, my problem wasn't that she wasn't fully trained in 10 days. It's that we paid for a specific service and didn't get it. I emailed the owner, Jeff, sent him the video clips, and asked for a partial refund. He wouldn't address any of it directly, just offered services that were already included in our package and turned down the refund. Then he was rude to my husband on the phone, which threw me because my husband is about as easygoing as they come and almost never gets worked up over anything. I also found it concerning that the exit document I was given included a clause saying clients agreed not to post negative reviews. I never signed it, but seeing that made me question how much honest customer feedback actually makes it online. Super shady. We ended up going with a different trainer afterward, and Poppy turned out exactly how we'd expected her to after actual, consistent training. Maybe we just got unlucky with the trainer. I can only go off our own experience, but between the training we actually received and how they handled it afterward, I wouldn't recommend them.
