Pet palace is the best pet shop IMO!! I literally don't go anywhere else but here Petco & PetSmart I don't feel like they're really fair with their prices but here that is defo not the case. I'm quite the nutterball when it comes to rats if you haven't noticed & every single one of my rats came from this very shop. All tame, healthy, happy. Depending on when you go they may have a limited amount of rats or quite the variety! The last time I went they had a few full grown rats. Some a little younger than that, some young adults and QUITE THE AMOUNT of juveniles! I took in 6 juveniles and a young adult. The place itself is small but very nice. Plenty of pets to choose from. Depending when you go you might even spot a cute lil pig in there Plenty of birds & cool reptiles to choose from. There are bunnies/rabbits, Guinea pigs, hamsters, rats & mice. If you're interested in live crickets for your reptile then this is the perfect place. For rat, mice and reptile owners - this place has plenty of mealworms! Plenty of stuff for pet care as far as food, housing/cages, hay, bedding, hideouts, treats & feeders go. Staffing? They're very kind, friendly & helpful. Ray & his mother are the main ones but there are other workers there too that may take out reptiles to show or allow ppl to pet. Everyone is super friendly. I'm small and not super strong but I do MUST buy those huge bags of pellets for my rats... since I can't carry them, well, one of the workers helped carry it out to my sisters car so that was really nice. The store owner Roy has helped me before as well. Idk why there's some bad reviews about him, so weird, he's such a nice & informative guy! Anyways! I strongly recommend this place! Yes it is a family owned, small business, mom & pop shop, who, based on other reviews, also own a farm? I can't imagine how busy they must be, so I can excuse the some dust here and there. Surprisingly though, with the amount of animals that they have there, especially BIRDS, it did NOT smell, so big kudos for that. Yes, they have reptiles here, lots of beardies, crested geckos of all sizes, morphs, with and without tails, a frilled lizard, rock iguanas, various snakes, and honestly THE MOST chameleons, especially large ones that I HAVE EVER SEEN even at a reptile shop, so if you're looking for chameleons this might actually be the place. There's a lot of cohabitation going on, but honestly, aside from the East Bay Vivarium, due to lack of space and funding, this is an unfortunate aspect that can't be avoided... They also have lots of birds including parrots of all sizes, cockatiels, finches, and even a chicken. They're kept in a very tall, big display coop which is pretty cool. There aren't really any bird shops in the area (the most exotic you'll get are aquarium shops and SOME reptile ones), so if you have feathered friends, this is the place to go. I LOVE that they have prepackaged feed specifically for different species. Made by the business owners for sure and they also have a good amount of feeders too. For mammals they have some hamsters, bunnies, and guinea pigs. For inverts, they have tarantulas and scorpions. There's a good variety of pet supplies here too (some dog and cat items too) that I don't see at other places, so that's neat too. read more

This family owned local pet store is a great spot for your pet needs. The pet food prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and helpful. I've been buying our cats and dogs food here for sometime. The owner is real knowledgeable in the ingredients and what's best for your pets coat and digestive system. They have a range of supplies. My only complaint is that the hours are kind of inconsistent. They post their hours but I've been there during those hours several times and they kind of show up when they can and sometimes close early. Which can be frustrating to have to come back multiple times. I know they have a farm so maybe juggling the two has been a challenge and they do what they can. This place is actually criminal and these people have no idea how to take care of their animals, most of the leopard geckos have metabolic bone disease which means they do not get enough calcium and UVB light that their bones are basically jello. They cant even stand up, all the birds are kept in tiny cages and the red eared slider turtles container dont even have water in them, its one thing to have animals in subpar enclosures but this place is the embodiment of animal abuse. If you are a animal lover, do not shop in places like these, it will only encourage horrible conditions and standards in pet trade. PS. I went there to buy a pre killed feeder rat, he took it to the back and mutilated the poor thing, in other stores pre killed feeder rats are killed quickly and humanely, I'm pretty sure my account will get banned if I attached those photos on this review, yes its that bad. read more

This place should be shut down. They are not properly taking care of any of their reptiles! All the animals are unhealthy and suffering from severe health risks due to neglecting ownership! Improper temperature and humidity requirements that aren't even being measured! It was super cold inside their "reptile room" and half their lights for the enclosures weren't even on. Please do not patronize this place. They are selling bunnies illegally. Pet stores are not allowed to sell rabbits in Califonia and the conditions in which they are housing them are horrifying. I went to visit a few days ago and they are keeping poor bunnies in a small tank with guinea pigs. This is not safe or sanitary for either animal. Above the tank was an open box of cereal. Disgusting! Most likely, these bunnies are from backyard breeders and often they are inbred, leading to severe health problems for the bunny. If you would love a bunny as a pet, please adopt one. So after driving to literally 10 different locations looking for a bird that my fiancé has been dying to get we finally stumbled upon Pet Palace and let me tell you this has by far been the best location we stepped into blows all the other locations out the water !!!! As soon as we parked you can hear the birds chirping from the parking lot not only that you walk in and they have such a WIDE VARIETY selection of birds and the the Pricing is super good if you ask me other places we're charging an arm and a leg for some of the same birds he had here . The guy their was very helpful he didn't pressure us at all neither let us walk around and look to make sure we made the right choice . Finally he brought the Blue Crowned Conure out the cage and immediately my fiancé fell in love only 9months old and the colors were so nice had blue feathers coming in as well on the head it's like turquoise that's going to be growing in overall we are super happy with the purchase made here at Pet Palace this is forsure my go to spot from now on I suggest you stop by if you ever looking for a bird , parrots etc even reptiles I didn't even get to take pictures he has probably the most craziest reptile selection around the area as well !! Just some advise for anyone wanting to shop here. Call first to make sure they are open. I came here yesterday to get a feeder and some bedding for my Ball Python around 11:30 and they were closed. This place is absolutely horrific. Every single one of their reptiles have little to no water and what water is there is extremely unclean! Almost every single leopard gecko they have has stuck shed stuck on them. All of the reptiles look miserable and some even malnourished. They have a red tail and a carpet python housed together! The blue youngest skink has missing toes and has extremely bad stuck shed. The chameleons aren't even kept in the proper conditions either. They have no humidity at all. They aren't even provided with proper bedding and plants. Almost every single animal that needs heat isn't even provide with the proper heating conditions. Every set up in the reptile room wasn't even providing these animals with the bare minimum. Not a single one of the reptiles sheds came off in a presentable or decent manner. Not to mention how cold the reptile room feels. The ambient temperature was TOO cold along with subpar heating setups.... disgusting and shameful to say the least. ALSO: if you feel the need to get your ears pierced while you shop here for poorly kept reptiles you CAN! RIGHT behind the reptile tanks! Remind you it is VERY sterile! read more

It's always clean cause I was freshwater and food for the animals. I know how expensive food can be for that many animals. I have five cats and it's a pretty nickel you pay every month. They always kind. Curious helpful he looks hard. Didn't get a customers like I said that store is amazing. if they don't have it they'll point you in the right direction and if you're in need of something special like a special diet for your animals if you have any questions you'll be happy to answer them. If he has the knowledge, he definitely will pass it down. The staff is amazing. And the prices are really good and you're getting quality food that's what's important to KFC so they can live alone and healthy life. 0-stars. The reptiles I saw here live in terrible conditions and several animals had missing toes, missing tails with an open wound, stuck shed and looked dehydrated. I hope the owner realizes that most of those reptiles come from tropical climates and require humidity between 50-100%, you cannot keep these animals in a bare cage with little water or misting system and expect them to shed properly or survive in general. The animal cruelty I witnessed in there is a legal and a moral issue and I hope the owner makes some serious changes. Absolutely disgusted in this place. read more

I really wanted to like this place. The birds seemed very friendly and happy. This place also looks very clean. But, the rodents were not in the best enclosures.. they were packed in small aquariums. the customer service wasn't great at all either. I really liked the lady who works there but the gentleman seemed like he did not want us there. He helped everyone that came in after us and when it was our turn he got very blunt and short with us. I had a puppy who did not do well at his first grooming. They called and asked me to pick him up because he was so stressed they could not continue. He is a labradoodle so when I saw another labradoodle I asked where they got it groomed. They said Pet Palace and they take their other labradoodle there also. I called and told the owner his issues. She said she would work with him to keep him comfy. Let him rest if he became agitated. She was sweet and gentle when we got there. She talked to him and he immediately took to her. Picked him up and he looked fabulous. She said he had no problems at all. And finally the cost was reasonable or at least in line with other shops I called and lower than some. We went in search of a pet lizard for my animal loving daughter (gasp!!). The man assisting us was very informative about species and which would be best for a kid. I also found out they sell chicken feed! Now I don't have to drive to El Monte to replenish. He also gave us some samples of dog food to try out.
