I understand that groomers can be busy, but it would have been nice to been told that from the start that way I could have scheduled a different appointment. It was extremely disappointing to hear that even with a scheduled appointment (which I made a week in advance) that she would be locked up for over a couple minutes. My dog does not like being locked up, something that is painfully obvious if you even lock her up for a couple minutes. It feels like she was neglected the entire time she was there. Honestly if I had not called it I'm pretty sure she would have been locked up for longer. It was pretty disappointing to say the least.

After picking up my dog, I noticed his eyes were very red and he could barely open them. I called to calmly ask if anything might have happened during the grooming process. This was not an accusation, simply a concerned pet owner trying to understand what may have caused the issue. I was not given any clear explanation or details, and instead the owner Henry became immediately defensive, repeatedly insisting he "doesn't keep secrets" and that nothing happened. I was interrupted multiple times while trying to explain my concern, and the conversation felt tense and dismissive. After the call ended, I heard him yell "god damn" in the background. When I called back to ensure everything was okay, he stated he was "hangry" and again insisted nothing happened. He later left a voicemail that felt erratic, repeatedly mentioning he was hungry and stressed, referencing having "a lot of pots on fires," and stating he would make a note on my account. While I understand that business ownership can be stressful and that issues can occasionally occur, the lack of transparency, combined with the emotional volatility and erratic nature of the voicemail, was concerning. It raised questions about professionalism, emotional regulation, and overall safety in how customer concerns especially regarding animal wellbeing, are handled. Because of this experience, I no longer feel comfortable returning or recommending this business.

She is a team lead who acts as if she is a manager. She acts as a self appointed manager even though that isn't her role nor job. She does not know how to speak to people, she is very verbally aggressive and was constantly antagonizing me and other coworkers. One of the run ins that I had with her was, right before I quit I had gotten sick (due to frequent changes in weather), and was trying to call in because of that fact. She informed me that I had to have a doctor's note to be able to call out. The issue with that is that we only get paid $10/hr and doctor visits are very expensive. It doesn't make sense to have to provide a doctor's note for a call-out because of me being sick. Especially because before that timeframe, it was failed to be communicated with me that it is a requirement to provide a doctor's note for a call-out due to me being under the weather. Not to mention that for all the work that we do, $10/hr is not a livable wage especially in this economy. Valería is the reason that I quit working here at Canine Country Club. She made it a very hostile work environment and spoke to me and other coworkers poorly and in a disrespectful manner often with no repercussions. She has had multiple instances of snapping at employees, belittling them, gossiping to people that she's close with and walking away from people while a conversation is actively being had. It should also be known that she has been put on leave previously for the same exact behavior and was allowed to come back as if nothing happened. I didn't report her behavior towards me because, I was scared of possible retaliation and the fear of my situation not being taken seriously. With all that being said, I think that Valería Alvarez treats her job as if it's an obligation and not a privilege. She should not be able to continue to treat people this way with no repercussions. The fact that she was even allowed back in the first place AFTER the first time as if nothing happened is repulsive and disturbing.

Previously, i had worked…read morewith 2 other trainers so i wasn't sure if they would be able to help but after meeting with Oscar, i felt reassured that they knew how to handle my stubborn Pomeranian, Popcorn. Oscar immediately picked up that Popcorn was nervous which has been an issue I wasn't sure would improve. We decided on a board and train program and I loved that they worked with my needs. Yes, it was extremely hard to leave my dog for 3 weeks but big improvements require big changes. I have been thrilled to see him develop overall obedience and improved behavior. I can now take my dog to restaurants, la centera, and parks knowing that he will behave well. People even compliment his obedience. I would definitely recommend meeting with Oscar for any behavioral modifications or overall obedience. The staff is also kind and will work with your needs. The lobby is currently closed due to COVID-19 social distancing but a staff member is always aware when you arrive to greet you. If I have anything I would change, it would only be to enroll my dog sooner.

This place is just that incredible. I got my Golden Retriever, Rosebud, groomed for the first time following an ACL tear a few months ago - they accommodated that situation perfectly. Cautious, yet very accommodating. When I picked up Rosebud, she looked so beautiful! Our groomer did a fantastic job, their timeliness was top-tier, yet very thorough. Katie and Skylar were incredibly welcoming on the floor as well - Katie even talked me into picking up a couple goodies for Rosebud from their fantastic selection. As a man who doesn't write reviews, I hope this will motivate at least one person to stop-in here - I will certainly be back (many times). I was completely blown away - fantastic job.
