I have nothing but positive remarks. The staff was so kind and sensitive. They have private rooms that are dim lit and really nice to allow you to have some quiet alone time with your pet if he/she passes. We had good experiences here over the last two years, even during the challenges of the pandemic. All the vets have been kind and thorough, answering my questions and giving clear guidance. I've also had good communication with the front desk. The vets never pushed tests or treatments and allowed my desire for "less is more" in appropriate situations. This week we dealt with a devastating IMHA diagnosis and when it was time to say goodbye, Dr. Johnson helped my best friend pass peacefully. She and the wonderful tech made a very painful moment into something special and beautiful for me, which I wasn't expecting and I'm so grateful. Thank you. read more

Had to bring my 16 year old cat in for emergency euthanasia tonight after midnight. All staff members -- reception, techs, and doctor -- were polite, kind, and quick to help. My cat did not have to wait or suffer long. The facility was clean and bright. The service was not cheap but it was not highway robbery like it is at many other local emergency vets. I read many reviews on Yelp and online for many emergency vets when we moved to Maryland a year ago. Some of the ones for Pet+ER Towson were not very positive so I was hesitant to take our 11-year old miniature schnauzer there when she was so sick she could hardly stand much less walk. I am sooooo glad we took her there (well, the Hunt Valley location)! Being that my spouse and I are both medical professionals in human intensive care units, we are very picky (and maybe a little overbearing) about the care our baby receives. The facility is new and state of the art. They have the ER, cardiology, internal medicine, optometry and neuro all under the same roof. We checked in online to two different emergency vets at approximately 0700 and Pet+ER was the first to call back around 1100. They just called for us to take her in to get some vitals to triage her. Prior to our visit, she had been treated for a UTI with the antibiotic that nausea, vomiting and anorexia that led to profound dehydration. Dr Wolfe assessed her and quickly admitted her for IV fluids and IV antibiotics. Dr Wolfe was very professional, knowledgeable and took her time with us. She made us very comfortable. The team allowed us to go in the back to see our baby in her designated kennel. Dr Wolfe also allowed us to be present for her intial ER ultrasound. Our little one had a worsening heart murmur, so Dr Wolfe was modest in the amount of fluids she gave and quickly consulted cardiology, who saw her the next day and did an echocardiogram. She also consulted the internal medicine team to perform an abdominal ultrasound, which was also done the next day. She spent one night in the ER and came home that following day. We received a full report with labs and progress notes on discharge. The ER vets were great and they involved us with our fur baby's care. They also didn't get annoyed we called every four hours to check on her. We never spoke with cardiology or internal med vets. Their progress notes were shared with us and the ER doc told us about the discussions they had with the consult services. The front desk, the vet techs, the veterinary doctors and the rest of the team were fabulous! They were all professional and friendly. I think most of the previous negative posts were simply from people who either had unrealistic expectations or just overall couldn't' get passed a pet that didn't do well. (This is not a service that is meant to be uber friendly and customer service focused. I think we all would prefer competent care that may not be super friendly over having many medical mistakes from someone that is friendly.) In addition, please be mindful of how stressed out the team can get. We saw one of the girls that worked the front desk get involved with an euthanasia and become very emotional once she left the family to the comfort room. The family may have portrayed her as not being nice when she was simply trying to hold herself together. We see ICU nurses do this all of the time. The one complaint I have is that they make you sign a consent form for sedation on admission. My fur baby does not need sedation for an ultrasound (she's the calmest and most cooperative little thing ever). Apparently, it is a protocol for the internal medicine team to give opioids for an abdominal ultrasound regardless of the pet's behavior. I understand the restraints of time as cardiology and internal medicine see the ER patients in between their daytime outpatient appointments. However, my dog's discharge ended up a little delayed to allow the opioid to wear off. Dr Szymanski was very cautious and appropriate with taking this into consideration when it was time for our baby to come home. We will always be grateful for Dr Wolfe and Dr Szymanski in the ER there. They were super professional and knowledgeable. I have been recommending PET+ER to everyone I know. Nothing short of a money grab. They do not care about animals. They do not care about you. You are a wallet$$$ in distress, and they want all that money. Absolute garbage is working at this place. If you're reading this review and work at PetER... if you have any morals and feel any remorse, quit. Quit now and make them close this cesspool. Pet had a broken leg, and these absolutely sacks of inhumane garbage recommended... a blood tests. That's on top of the $4000 bill. That wouldn't even fix the broken leg. So probably ~$5-6k. I waited for HOURS and got to see their "doctor" for less than a few minutes. In the 5 minutes she tried to sell me the blood tests and sell me on the $4000 bill. Think car sales person, but your car has a heart beat. Unlike the people working here. When I said no, she walked out and I waited for another hour for the receptionist to come and give me the bill. They didn't even bring my pet out until 30 minutes AFTER I paid the bill. read more

Never again. Took my dog here for a gaping wound that they said was not serious enough to be seen. When we took the dog to our regular vet, they said that he has a hole in his abdomen that needs to have surgery. Was my dog supposed to die of sepsis before he was emergent enough to be seen? Update: He has a fever which they somehow missed during their vitals check. Did they even DO a vitals check? Who knows. Just don't go there. There are other animal hospitals in the area that would be glad to take your business and will take better care of your pets. read more

PetER failed to diagnose rabies in an outdoor cat with a bite injury. Instead he was treated for an electrolyte imbalance, despite exhibiting increasing aggressiveness--one of the clearest symptoms of rabies. We were assured he was improving, charged more than $1,000, and given the dying cat back. He died a horrible death within 24 hours and tested positive for rabies shortly after. The caretaker and her husband had to find an emergency room in the middle of the night to get rabies vaccines. I have never seen such an appalling case of veterinary malfeasance. The clinic never apologized, tried to blame the caretaker, and refused to refund our money. They even said that the symptoms of an electrolyte imbalance and rabies are similar, something that is absurd. I would drive to Cincinnati before taking an animal there for care again. read more

I will start by saying that despite the devastating circumstance of having to say goodbye to our 12yr old golden retriever, our experience with the doctors and staff was wonderful. We were brought back immediately. everything was explained thoroughly, we were given every possible option and potential outcome. We never felt pressured and we were shown itemized prices upfront so we knew the financial outcome before they proceeded. They gave us time to process the news and spend uninterrupted time with our boy in a private room. They even brought us some of his favorite things as a last meal. Most of all, everyone spoke with compassion and understanding of our difficult situation and we appreciated their patience. The only negative is the cost of service. I do realize this is the way it is at all pet emergency facilities so I can't be too upset. Overall, I would definitely recommend this location. They are wonderful! read more

Horrible, HORRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT. Do not take your pet here if there is an emergency unless it is last course of action. My vet referred me here and I will be having a angry conversation with them for that. I came because my dog had wires lodged in her mouth and throat (possibly stomach) and I wanted to make sure they were removed. I did my best at home but don't have an x-ray machine. I paid an examination fee, that was supposed to be $110 but $350 was taken out of my account. Was told my dog was examined and everything was fine, there were no wires in her mouth so there was no urgency. They told me they would get an x-ray immediately just to make sure. 5 hours pass, no call. I get upset and keep calling, asking what's going on. Finally get told she's in a long line for x-ray machine but again she didn't have wires in her mouth so no urgency. Another hour passes and I want to take my dog someplace else. I came there because I wanted to make sure she was okay, not for her to be stuffed in a room for 6 hours without supervision or food or water. I argue about getting my dog for a long long time, they refused to give her to me even though I paid for services. I ended up having to call the police to get her back. Talked to the discharge nurse, I understood it was busy but the fact I couldn't take my dog after paying, Ridiculous. I check her in the car and SHE STILL HAD WIRES IN HER MOUTH. Finally talk to the doctor, and get this, they said they didn't even examine her for wires!! So they took my money, and $240 extra ( No idea where that came from because it wasn't on the receipt) for a service they didn't complete. I have always been referred here in case of emergency and didn't check the reviews but please, if you have another option don't come here. Now I am at a different center restarting the process after my dog has been vomiting the whole way here and losing consciousness. I consider that an emergency obviously something is wrong with her. In addition, not everyone has money up front when they have emergencies. So many establishments ask for full payment before receiving your dog which is ridiculous to me. No payment plans? Would you rather let a dog die?? Update: I have received a refund but am still appalled by this experience. read more

No compassion. NEVER AGAIN. Only receptionists care about the animals. It is a over crowded E.R. with inexperienced vets. Dr Cao Is not knowledgeable. She speaks down to you. We know our pets they can't talk our voice should be heard. She is too smug to listen. Nothing the patients owner says is taken into consideration. She tells you she will call if condition worsens. She didn't. I visited and told them he was worse and was ignored. Nothing differently was done. Even when I asked them to do what the cardiologist tells me to do at home. More Lasix when he couldn't breathe. They let my poor baby lay there in distress scared and suffering Cardiologist are fine when you can get an appointment. Don't go through emergency to see them. Your dog in distress won't be a priority. They will be squeezed in when they can. Little too late at that point. You can beg cardiology to look at your pet but they won't. I've had the worse experience don't ever come here!!! I'm aware this is a ER but I've been here for 4 hours and nothin! I had to call the receptionist and her response was did the doctor call you? Yes 40 minutes ago so where is my pet? Oh hold on, then I proceed to ask about pricing after the doctor told me one thing, she had another price! I work in health care and I know the doctors never know pricing! So why would he twll me oh its $160 and she said oh it's $293. what!!! So you never once thought to call me and go over any chargers before you render any services to my dog, I was about about the initial fee but not anything else! You can't just add test, oh because he's a dog and can't speak you just add charges!!! Then she said the wait was for a critical patient after it was another thing, but I saw the staff ordering food so where was the all hands on deck at? Oh y'all needed to eat food?!? I'm aware that every patient is different and require different needs my dog had blood in his urine and was given IV and it took 5 hours! Myself snd another car was literally in the parking lot so I'm trying to figure out if it's another entrance because it should not take that long. From the time I've been in car I have seen 3-4 staff members come back and fourth to the car. Management needs to intervene and have a better process and allow people to leave and come back of the wait is going to be long etc, also management have you're staff call patients and let them know what's being charged! DOGS can't talk or PAY!! Again I'm aware of ER and the protocols but 4 hours and still nothing?!? I feel like they forgot about me and I have to keep reminding them of my animail who is ready to go! I honestly don't understand why Pet ER doesn't have 5 stars... my partner and I had to make the really difficult decision to put our old boy, Ace down. He was 11, and lost the ability to use his back legs. Our doctor was exceptionally kind. Words cannot even begin to explain our gratitude. Every single person we interacted with exhibited such unparalleled kindness on our horrible day during the middle of a pandemic. When we were saying our last words, the person that performed Aces euthanasia was.. nothing short of an angel. I'll never forget how she gave Ace a long pet and said goodbye before leaving. It made us feel affirmed in our grief. Thank you all SO much for showing our beloved boy kindness in his last moments. We have recommended you all to everyone we know. My medically complex dog came in with sudden onset nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hyperglycemia and worsening lethargy. As a diabetic and immunocompromised patient, he was at high risk for severe illness, and given his overall fragility, I was aware any acute illness could tip him over the edge. I chose Towson Pet + ER as it is the closest facility to our home and is located in the same building as his internal medicine specialist for ease of record sharing and collaboration. As always, I called ahead to ensure he would be able to be seen. He was also supposed to get prioritized treatment in the ER given he was a patient at AVIM. Upon arrival, he was tachycardic with a heart rate of 168. They checked his blood sugar and said he was stable. We were told he would be seen by a vet in 2-3 hours after the initial assessment as he wasn't critical. They couldn't not authorize fluid resuscitation until seen by the vet. After over 4 hours waiting in an exam room to be seen by a vet, he began having worsening mental status and bloody diarrhea. We begged to be seen and again were told he would be seen as soon as possible. No vitals were checked at the 4 or 5 hour mark after arrival. After waiting over 5 hours in an exam room and knowing that waiting any longer would lead to death, we rushed him to another pet ER. Unfortunately it was too late and he had developed shock and passed away. This was a failure of the triage system and a serious delay in care. My dog did not deserve this neglect. He had been through so much already and now my family and I need to live with the regret and trauma of choosing this ER over others in the area. If you have a medically complex pet, I do not recommend going here. Find another facility appropriately equipped to recognize and treat true emergencies. read more

If i could give a 0 i would. i sat outside for hours with no contact on what they had even found wrong with my dog, my local vet sent us here because my dog needed surgery and they made us aware they had no one to perform any of the procedures that were needed. and even if they did they wouldn't recommend having it done here because it is "out of their wheelhouse" i don't know what was worse the waste of time or the waste of money. oh and who knows what's even wrong with my dog because we got 0 answer. on to the next emergency vet- hopefully they'll be competent read more

Horrible!!!! They took advantage of us and our sick kitty. They insisted that they could help her and she needed to be admitted, for $2000 for 12 hours of care...we asked if she should be put down and they said no... when we picked her up she was in such bad shape & couldn't breathe. We never got test results until 8 days and several calls later. We had to take her to another vet to be put down. This place is a joke. We ended up going to the 24 hour clinic in Bel Air and they were straightforward, amazing & 1/2 of the cost. read more

I am forced to write another review due to the origjnal permanently removed by YELP (Requested by PetEr) claiming that my use of the "B" word to describe Dr. Taj was offensive. So here again I would like to stress how dissatisfied and frustrated I am with this hospital for the pain they have caused. In May 2017, I drove from Forest Hill, MD after picking my "Princeas Zsa Zsa" up from BFFFE after getting calls that she wasn't feeling or looking good after eating chicken bones out of the trash the night before. When we arrived, it took approximately 1 hour before she was seen by a doctor to be told that she required emergency surgery becuase her small intestines were severly compacted which would cost approximately $2000. Being a parent that would do anything to make her 7lbs love feel and live forever. I did not hesitate to take the doctor's recommendation to heart. He assured that she would be ok and becuase he was from China he had an extensive background with performing surgery of such on small dogs. He did however, caution that due to Zsa Zsa being diagnosed with Cushions Disease that she could be vulnerable to infections however, he would be more cautious. I waited in the lobby for approximately 3 hours until the doctor came back to tell me that the surgery took longer as a result of his need to use his fingers as opposed to tools being too large. He also advised that he inadvertently ruptured her but said she would be fine just will require a little longer healing. I was told that I would see her shortly. Hours turned into hours that I never saw my little girl and around 2am in the morning that Doctor was leaving said his counterpart Dr. Taj would be in. I saw this doctor and others but no one would allow me to see Zsa Zaa. I was getting the run around about shifts changing and doctors performing emergency procedures. Well I was there since 7pm and watch every dog and their parents come and go. Around 8am the next day I was finally greeted by Dr. Taj who was extremely unpleasant and seemed a bit irritated that I demanded to speak with her and see my little girl. She informed me very unsympathetic that Zsa Zsa may not make it yet she asked how much was I willing too pay to save her and what my financial situation was becuase she was told that I was going through a divorce. I was appauled and very taken back telling her that I would sell my car and house if needed and what I wanted her to focus on is the care of my little girl! She replied, this is her business and she needed to make sure I could afford it. She also went on to say that as of 8am my new bill had exceeded more than $5000 and how was I planning too pay the difference? I told her again let me see my little girl and also let me worry about her bill being paid. Finally, I was able to see my little girl who smelled like vomit, her left eye was jumping and rolled in the back of her head, her tongue was hanging out of her mouth and she was hooked to a breathing machine that showed her heart beating out of her chest. I immediately inquired why she appeared to look like that to be told by a nurse that was told to be taking care of her that she was going to massage her tongue? The doctor no longer anywhere too be found said that she wanted me to have my final good-bye since I was leaving to attend divorce court just in case. It was a very hard decision to finally leave after waiting for hours however, I was coming back to get her. However, about 11 am the doctor called to inquire as to why I had yet too pay the difference of $3000. I told her I would pay it when I return. She again stated that she was concerned because this is how she makes a living. One hour later I got a call from her again speaking in a demanding tone advising that Zsa Zsa went into cardiac arrest however, she tried to cardiac arrest but she is gone! All I remember was her asking was when will you be here to pay the bill and pick her up! When I got there the next day to pick up my little girls belongings I noticed that her hair bow had tangled hair in it which appeared to be as a result of them pulling it off her head. I have not heard back from the doctors since not so.much of offering condolences or anything. I requested a report and it states that she passed due to complications! I miss and love my little angel so much and would have given anything to save her! read more

They treated my dying pet. My doggie, with care and compassion

Currently have a 15 month old kitty who has been acting out and peeing outside of his litter box. A doctor at our primary vet chalked this up to a bladder blockage and sent him home with sedatives to encourage relaxation and urinating. 10 days later, not much improvement and kitty was extremely antsy and whiny. I brought him to Pet+E.R., since it was 10pm on a Wednesday and our primary was closed. There was no line when we arrived, we were put into a room immediately, and checked out in about 3 hours. This is less time than a walk-in appointment to our primary. Doctor Rachel Hershner was very pleasant and she made us feel like a priority. In the end, kitty had x-rays, urinalysis test, and was sent home with medication and a referral for food and additional medication from our primary. I believe the cost was reasonable, especially for an emergency service. Here was the cost, as of August 2018: +Emergency Exam $95 (Standard charge for each visit. Our primary is $70, so I think $95 is fair) +X-rays $268 (2 views. Primary $170-$500) +Urinalysis (in house with immediate results) $76 (Primary $98) +Buprenorphine $90 (Opioid, 6 0.3ml syringes) I have been to this location before, a few years ago with an older cat. He was suffering from heart failure, and I remember that they took good care of him. I'm happy with both visits to Pet+E.R. and would recommend it in emergency situations. read more

I tried to give it a few months before leaving a review to ensure it was rational. But these people killed my baby. After receiving the necropsy results, it only solidified that from when we first got there, if they had taken anything I said seriously about his breed specific issues, he would still be here. My biggest regret is taking him there to begin with. I should have stuck with my gut and gave it 24 hours before bringing him anywhere but it was a Saturday morning and my vet wouldn't have been able to see me until Tuesday. He was treated for sepsis which I said multiple times was not the case (and test results came back negative) Overly medicated, bleeding from them shaving his fur, and had not eaten in over 72 hours. After two nights they said I could take him home, and I had bring him back 4 hours after picking him up. When I brought him back he couldn't stand and he was collapsed on the floor in the middle of the clinic (60 pound dog that I could not hold) and I had to be crying and ask to be seen before being moved to their "triage" room for another 45 minutes before he received any additional treatment. If you own a not so common breed that does or potentially has breed specific health issues, please don't expect these vets to do their research because they won't. I picked having my dogs over children and the loss is unbearable. If you know your dog, trust your instincts. I would also like to add that I don't know if these vets are trained to do this, but when someone's fur baby is sick, DO NOT hold a clip board of treatment options with check marks and pricing in my face like it's a god damn nail salon. I'm sure you deal with people in unfortunate circumstances but perhaps instead of wasting time explaining the costs to me and calling me to get approval for treatment costs, and perhaps doing it when needed, you may save more lives. It's been almost 4 months, and my experience with this place still gives me nightmares. read more

Not recommended for anything but emergencies. We had a cat who showed signs of a UTI, which can be dangerous in male cats, and it was a Saturday after our regular vet was closed. We were seen by a vet tech relatively quickly, and then placed in an exam room to wait for the vet. The room was uncomfortably cold. More than an HOUR later, the vet tech returned to check on us. It seemed that so many MORE URGENT pet emergencies kept coming in the door, and they were prioritized over our cat. We understand the need to triage and prioritize, but there's an additional layer of communication that should have been addressed. If all other incoming entries were higher priority, then did we really need to be at the ER at all? Someone could have tried to impart the urgency (or lack thereof) of our pet's condition. After ANOTHER HOUR and no sign of a vet (or anyone else), we put our cat back in the carrier, stopped at the front desk (no charge because we didn't see the vet), and left. No one asked why we were leaving, nor made any attempt at apologizing. So unless you feel confident that you will receive prompt care because of the severity of your pet's condition, save yourself a few hours and avoid this place. Our cat, fortunately, seems to be doing better on his own. read more

I understand ER and prioritizing pets based on urgency but my pet was taken from me 6 hours ago and I have been left in a waiting room waiting for ANY result or communication. Answer is consistent Doctor is in surgery, doctor is putting in sutures etc. No one had an issue in having me sign off on 1,000 dollars worth of tests and X-rays but to get an answer on the results? Impossible ! Ask to leave and just go ? Can't do that you paid for the test we have to have Doctor give you results but wait they are in surgery so you will have to wait . read more

Pet ER is a joke. Took my dog there 6 oclock this morning with a gash in her head. I was made aware thst there are 32 people ahead of me. Pointing at the empty parking lot the lady says people sign up and wait at home. Please don't go there with an emergency. ER stands for Emergency Room. Not make an appointment. So sad. read more

My family had such a great experience here! Quick service when my senior dog was having seizures. The doctor we spoke to multiple times was extremely knowledgeable and compassionate, giving us full confidence to leave our dog for a full 24 hr observation. We've gone to the Pet ER twice now, and yes it's more expensive--just like going to an emergency room. The vets and techs are great though, and response time is fast if you have a legitimate emergency. I wouldn't hesitate to take a pet there again. The last time we went, we had to have our cat of 21 years put down. The staff was very supportive and compassionate throughout, they made the process as painless as it could be for all of us. My experience 12/14/20 I brought in my cat (Sasha Jones) due to vomiting. I was there 12/14/20 at 7:20pm in space 9. I registered at 7:50pm I called to see when they would get my cat. They came and got Sasha approximately 10 min later. 8:55 pm I called to follow up, on hold for 8 minutes, I hung up. I called at 10:55pm to inquire again about Sasha, doctor had to call me back. Dr. called 11:27, at this point I explained I have to go to work by 7 am. She went over options AND haven't even done an xray yet, after 3 hours! I sent email video of how Sasha was acting. No response. At 1:44am now 12/15/20, I spoke with doctor she went over things with me THEN said she would put Sasha in for discharge. I'm expecting to be gone by 2am. At 3am I seen an assistant walk by me to the car to the right of ...that came after me (as many had)...I finally said WHEN is my cat getting discharged I have been here for 8 hrs AND have to be at WORK at 7:00 AM. I spoke to Dr. 2 hrs ago. This is at 3 o'clock in the morning by now. She said we have a list...um ok (discharge list) my cat should be on that list FOR discharge per the Doctor I spoke to at 1:44 am. She said I CANT help you if you don't call to get discharged. WHAT!? So I was sitting there for 2 hours to be discharged only to find out I HAVE to call to be discharged EVEN after the Doctor said she was getting discharge papers ready. Finally discharged at 3:29 am. This experience was totally unprofessional, inconsiderate & a down right nightmare. Then you charge $260 for a KUB (xray) of my cat, when at Advanced radiology ( I work at), charges 1/2 of that for a person. I have been awake since 5:30 am Monday morning, it's now Tues. I got home at 4am, only to take a shower, take care of my cats and go to work. I'm still here get off at 5 pm. Think about all this.....does it make any damn sense. I have mixed feelings about my recent experience here. The vet that saw my cat was ultimately the same one I would be in contact through the duration of his time there (about a day and a half). She really, really needs to work on her bedside manner. I was told she'd call me the next morning and I ended up calling her because it was almost 11am and I hadn't heard anything. When she came on the line she said, "what do you want to know?" Well, I'd like an update! The vet techs (I think Anthony and Veronica), on the other hand, were so very nice. I do think they're competent here. It's awfully expensive. I ultimately had to put my cat down and when the vet tech (one I hadn't met before) came in to take him from me she dropped him on the ground. I know it wasn't done on purpose and an accident but that was how my experience here ended. Not good. read more

Based on the reviews, people either love or hate this place. We had a great experience here. We arrived late at night with a sick dog. They welcomed us immediately and promptly brought us back where they diagnosed our dog's condition as terminal. Based on the dog's behavior, we already knew this. The staff was caring and considerate. They were literally all we could ask for in this horrible situation. Highly recommended. read more

I took my dog Roo to Pet ER in Towson on July 1 around 11:30 pm. He had ingested human prescription medicine, and I was advised by Animal Poison Control to have him seen by a vet. When we were taken to triage, the nurse tried to take Roo's temperature, but he struggled and the thermometer came out. I asked her not to do it again, as he was upset by it and he wasn't sick, but there for a known poisoning. She told me she would have to write that I refused the procedure, which didn't bother me. Then she said that they would do it anyway in the back when I wasn't there, against my request. I thought her response was rude and threatening at the time. I guess I should have taken the hint and left then. After seeing the vet, Roo received Cerenia, charcoal and under the skin hydration. After about 30 minutes in the back, he came out with his harness on improperly and so tight that I had to loosen it to get it off him. The next day, during a belly rub, Roo growled and snapped at me. Shortly afterwards, I pet him on his lower back/thigh and he bit me hard, breaking the skin, something that has never happened before. I wonder if their employee followed up on her threat or treated him roughly during his procedure? I am appalled by Pet ER's treatment of my dog. Stay away. read more

yes I agree that the charges are very high here, however the service I receive each time is phenomenal. When you want to assure you are getting excellent service, you bring your pet here. My dog was attacked by a pit bull and was in a horrible state. The vet team here saved my Dog's life & gave me all of the support I needed to make it through that time. Its heart breaking when you are in that position. Additionally, the front desk staff is awesome. Very organized, friendly and efficient. read more

My husband and I brought our cat in over the weekend to get emergency help. We had to wait over five hours just to get seen by the doctor. By the time the doctor arrived our poor cat was shaking so badly, we should've seen this as a sign. During the three days that she was in the hospital, she was given fluids, one anti-anxiety medication, some anti-nausea medication and an ultrasound. She was absolutely terrified of being in there. When we found out after the ultrasound that she had cancer, we drove the hour down to be with her as she crossed over to the rainbow bridge. After we spent some time with her, the doctor was called in and I was talking to my cat and she gave her the sleep medication before I was even done speaking with her. The Dr. was very rude when I asked her about it and showed no compassion to my husband and I and the fact that we were having to put down a family member. This bothers me more than the ridiculous cost of this place. The fact that our cat had to spend her last moments terrified of her surroundings.(which she wasn't at her regular vet.) in her last hours and the fact that I wasn't finished saying goodbye before she was put to sleep is appalling. read more

This place couldn't care less about your pet- it's a pure money grab. We took our injured puppy and were told if it wasn't life or death they were no longer doing those services?!? WHAT? How do you call yourself a PetER and not treat an injured dog crying in pain?!? And charge you to be told that?!? On top of that they are rude, disrespectful, and certainly not a place I would expose anyone or any animal I care about especially in a time of need. Shame on anyone who claims they care about animals and works there. There is no way what we encountered tonight could earn a 5 star rating. I'd give them zero if I could! Just had a horrible experience at the Pet+ER in Towson, and I'd really advise you to find another option if you need an ER for your pet. My dog had 48 hours of near hourly diarrhea which did not respond to all of the ordinary efforts of home treatment. She then began to vomit, and since it was a Saturday afternoon, I took her to the ER. I waited an hour to be triaged, and when the triage staff approached, he asked a question, and before I answered he turned around and walked away without saying a word. Thirty minutes later, I flagged him down and he said, "oh- no one has talked to you yet?". Shortly after, another woman approached and was very nice. She took symptom info and vital signs and said we would be put in a room. Someone else put us in a room- the room my previous dog had died in the last time I was there- just a bad coincidence, so I didn't say anything. I sat in that room for three hours and no one ever came in the room. While in the room, I got a text telling me to come in and begin the triage process. I texted back that I was already there and what room I was in. No response. I went to the desk- just want to make sure you know I'm here. Yes, yes, we know. Waited and waited and after four hours I left. Not one person ever checked on my dog. Staffing is horrendous- and communication is awful. I will take my dog elsewhere in the morning, and hope that I'm doing the right thing. Will never go back to Pet+ER in Towson. read more

Charged me 3000 to tell me nothing. Had me waiting 6 hours in parking lot to wait for discharge of my dog. Wanted to take my daughter home to sleep and told me they would charge me another overnight charge if I quickly left and returned. Then proceeded to provide my vet wrong information. Again this place provided me with NO i formation about my dogs 30 minute seizure but had NO problem charging me several times in order to do any other work. Horrible horrible! read more

What a nightmare! I need to start by saying I'm completely aware of COVID-19 and its affects on businesses. That being said, I took my dog here last night at 9 PM along with my 11-year-old child , who was hysterical They took us in and admitted our puppy. We were told to wait in the car and the doctor would update us. I went in to use the vending machine I was told was an allowed because of COVID-19. We were told we couldn't was the bathroom and had to wait in the car. 3 1/2 hours later we got an update that they found nothing and that we need to see a cardiologist on Monday. My issue is that you can't tell someone to wait in the car indefinitely, especially with a child with no access to water or bathroom. They need to come up with a better plan. My child had a P in a cup in the backseat. What a nightmare! read more

We had the unfortunate event of our dog chewing on wire carpeting - she was not digesting food or water and was vomiting. We rushed to the Pet+ER and didn't wait long - that was a positive. Upon our dog being examined, which included a scan of her stomach, we were told that emergency surgery was necessary and needed to be done ASAP (all of this being determined without the results from the scan coming back. Dr. Tyler was adamant on doing the surgery and as were we until the financial aspect came about. We were quoted above $5k - you read that right, more than $5,000.00. This was just too much for our wallets and we could not find a single way of coming up with that type of money. We looked into the pet insurance but interest rates were just absurd. We tried to do everything we could and even contemplated putting her to rest - we didn't have the financial luxury of affording that or finding someone to assist. We were pressured greatly by Dr. Tyler and then an amazing assistant advised us to call other veterinarians in the area to get a quote. We did and thankfully got in touch with Bel Air Pet ER. Dr. Tyler of Pet+E.R. was amazing (sense sarcasm), she made every insinuation that we were terrible pet owners and then had the nerve to say I was an abusive boyfriend because I was the decision maker as my inconsolable girlfriend couldn't fathom putting down her dog but as a graduate student did not have the funds to put forth. Long story short - we took her to Bel Air ER at 11:30 at night, greeted by an amazing staff and had her stay overnight for examination. She passed the carpeting naturally and did not require surgery. I paid a tenth of what she quoted and we have a healthy dog. Note to self, if you want to be judged and pressured, Pet+E.R. is your go-to! read more
