EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED. 5 STARS BECAUSE EVERYONE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS. We arrived at 8:00 AM today at August 13th 2025 for my dog's scheduled surgery, and by 2:39 PM, we were still waiting with no clear or honest update from anyone on staff. This isn't the first time. On August 5th 2025, we had the same experience during my dog's MRI appointment. The staff gave us the exact same excuse: "the previous patient's procedure is taking longer than expected." Both times, they claimed they "just found out" about the delay but after it happened again today, it's obvious that excuse is complete nonsense. If this really keeps happening, it's not a one-time delay. it's a scheduling failure. We were told surgery was about to happen at 2:30 PM, even though earlier we were told it was "ideal" to start at 8:00 AM sharp. Their explanations contradict each other, and no one takes ownership of the issue. This is why we schedule ahead of time to avoid exactly this kind of situation. Yet we were left waiting for over 6 hours with no communication, no transparency, and zero respect for our time or our pet's well-being. If you choose to bring your pet here, make sure they schedule only your dog for the day or be prepared to wait all day and be fed excuses. Also we had surgery on 8-20-2025 and surgery was unsuccessful due to vain being really close to where they needed to remove the disc. Yes but don't they suppose to know that already? Idk why they suggested surgery then if they knew the veins were all over the spine area. And they charged us $9865.50 for unsuccessful surgery. Their excuse was it's better than your dog being paralyzed and further injured. But his words also contradict because when we went to here what exactly happened, he said he would actually take this surgery further if my dog was paralyzed. I still do not understand the whole process why this surgery was necessary when the results is just they opened him up and basically lost blood from surgery and they closed it up. I wish I can upload all the video footage of vet explaining to us. The more you listen to it . It doesn't make sense.

SnowFlake, Our buddy, our pal.

Brought my boy cat in for a life determining evaluation. I had used another location once before for another animal and miracles abounded at that time so figured I give them another go in hopes for another miracle. Well, my boy cat "Snowflake" was sicker than we thought, and although there was no nailing what exactly he was dying from, his red blood cells were single digit and not rebounding. Money was not discussed until the odds of expensive treatments making a lasting life extension for him being slim to none, only then did money come up as an item, which I could bear if need be, but blood transfusing and expensive liver tests et al, would not guarantee his survival especially for the 24hrs he most likely had left to live. I researched for days, all week in fact, for a place to just get him to, in my area on the south side of the beltway, but it wasnt until the snowstorm that I thought I'd go north to this ER. The place is highly efficient, like a shock trauma center, and they ran my guy through a heck of a regimen of triage. I'd recommend getting insurance for your animal as if I had insurance like I did the one dog I took there once, perhaps we would have been able to take the extra chance , but then again he had about 24 hours of time left which I whole heartedly agree, AND the cat was suffering. My cat was suffering and really losing his face shape and everything as he widdled away. I believe it could have been an aggressive cancer since he went downhill so fast, perhaps 3 weeks to a month. So while I come to grips with myself on taking so long to get him proper care, my wife and I are thankful to have had him, enjoyed his antics, and we really lost a friend today. rest in peace my good friend and enjoy playing over the other side of that rainbow bridge you crossed today. To the doctor and staff, thank you so very much. I just regret not knowing for sure what it was, but your diligence and attention today was among the best I could have asked for. Incredible team. Just incredible.

You could write something warm and specific like this:…read more VEG was wonderful with Max. I brought him in because a skin irritation had worsened and I was really worried about him. The team took my concerns seriously, explained what they were seeing, and made sure I understood the treatment plan before we left. They were kind, patient, and gentle with Max, and I never felt rushed or dismissed. I especially appreciated being able to call back with a follow-up concern after we got home and having the veterinarian talk it through with me. When your dog is family, it matters to feel like the people caring for him understand how seriously you take his health. I felt that at VEG and would absolutely return if Max ever needed emergency care again.

While…read moreit is always an expensive and heart-wrenching endeavor, VEG Pikesville did an amazing job at making an unbearable time that much more bearable. Their entire staff (at least the 10 or so I interacted with) are incredibly kind and compassionate. They let you stay with your animal, and don't rush you or pressure you. In addition to the kindness, the quality of care was excellent. Not sure how things are going to turn out for my boy Grady, but I know they would be much worse if we hadn't come in. Thank you to everyone there for showing the kind of compassion I know is very hard to sustain in this field.

Lakeview was the only one able to accommodate us with a morning appointment. Very calming environment with friendly staff made for a great experience for Scout. As soon as we walked in and were greeted and asked if we wanted water, soda or hot coffee/tea, I felt this was a different type of veterinarian. This is a relatively new practice and everything smells fresh and clean. We were shown into a room and a vet tech came in to get some information about my dog and the reason we were there. Next the operations manager came in to say hello and meet us and see my adorable dogs. Then the doctor came in with the vet tech, we talked and she weighed and examined my dog and gave me her thoughts while holding each of my dogs so the tech could cut their nails. I had several questions which I had asked other veterinarians and the answer Dr Laura gave me seems to be spot on and is already helping and making a difference with my dogs and her paws. I am happy to have found such a good practice, and also a very reasonable first visit. My dogs are seniors so our visits are typically expensive and this was very reasonable. I'm glad to have found this practice and it being close to home makes it even better. This seems to be a family owned practice and I happen to love those type of businesses. Highly recommend! You won't go wrong making an appointment here for your pets.

In the…read moremoment I caught absolutely no one's name (sorry!) but we interacted with at least 5 people and all were so kind. From being in the parking lot to open the door and help us get her inside to taking care of the paperwork before the euthanasia so you can just leave on your own terms, the system they have is great for an awful day. The pushbutton to let them know you are ready so they don't have to check (and you don't have to ask) should be the standard everywhere. Chocolates for the dog (because at this point everyone gets chocolate!) but also for the people. Should be a different review but we have used them for other emergency care for all of our three now two dogs, and each time was great. I love that you are always with your pup, rather than having them taken to a back room for tests, especially for the fearful pups who can't stand to be separated from their humans. I understand some of the negative reviews about pricing but veterinary care is expensive these days and emergency care even more so. I've found VEG to be lower than the surrounding competitors I won't name here but you can figure out from the geography. Kindness abounds at this place when you and your furry friend are having a terrible day.

I will absolutely blast them for being dirt bags for pushing cremation special services on me and a hard sell as I was comforting my animal in his dying moments. I paid in full after entering and knew and authorizedthat it was appropriate to let my dog go. The sniveling little lackey had the nerve to come into the darkened room and say "I'll just leave the brochure here with your invoice " after I told him to leave me be with my beloved pet. Do I suspect they just scoop up a pile of ashes from the communal cremation? -yes: And charge you $300 for them. Maybe, maybe not. We brought our beloved 17-year-old cat, Freddy, to VEG after he began experiencing seizures. Freddy had been bravely fighting advanced kidney disease, and we knew in our hearts it was time to help him cross the rainbow bridge. We were completely devastated and hysterically crying as we rushed him there. We called from the car to let them know we were on our way, and from the moment we walked through the doors, it was all hands on deck. The team's immediate response was incredible. They met us with urgency, kindness, and compassion at a time when we could barely think straight. I can't speak to the medical treatment VEG provides beyond this experience, but I can wholeheartedly speak to the compassion and professionalism they showed us. Every member of the staff treated Freddy with dignity and treated us with so much empathy during one of the hardest moments of our lives. A week later, we received a handwritten sympathy card signed by the staff. It brought me to tears. That small gesture meant more than I can put into words. After a less-than-stellar experience at another emergency veterinary hospital (Friendship), we were especially grateful for the care and compassion we received at VEG. Nothing can bring Freddy back, but the kindness shown to us that day has brought light to some very dark memories. For that, we will always be thankful.

I had called beforehand to ask if we should bring her in, and they recommended that we do. When we arrived, we were taken back pretty quickly to have her vitals checked, but were then told the wait to actually be seen could be anywhere from 6-8 hours, which definitely caught us off guard! Thankfully, they provided us with a list of other emergency vets in the area to check with. Just as we were getting ready to leave for another location with a shorter wait, one of the vet techs came back and let us know Winnie would actually be seen shortly! Of course, that made me a little nervous thinking something might be seriously wrong with her, but thankfully her parvo test came back negative! They took her back for a full examination, and everything looked pretty good aside from some gastrointestinal issues. The team gave us time to review the estimate before moving forward with treatment, which we appreciated. Winnie was sent home with medication and some canned food to help her tummy over the next few days. Despite the initial shock of the wait time (and the vet bill, of course ), everyone we interacted with was incredibly kind, helpful, and compassionate. It's always stressful having to bring such a young puppy to the emergency vet, but we really appreciated the care and attention they gave Winnie. We're hoping our little girl is back to feeling like herself soon! Thank you to the entire team for taking care of her!

Dr. Kaiman was truly wonderful. You can tell he genuinely enjoys his job, and he's great at it. He was very engaged and knowledgeable, and he patiently answered all of our questions. He is clearly highly intelligent, but he is also very personable and could explain things in a relaxed way that we actually understood. He returned some of our follow up calls himself, when he very easily could have had a vet assistant call us back. The surgery turned out excellent. Our dog has now fully recovered. Of course, that isn't always guaranteed, but I would trust Dr. Kaiman with my dog without question.

The first visit, they admitted her for emergency care, gave an honest breakdown of anticipated costs (and a refund when the cost was lower than expected), invited me to call with any questions or if I wanted an update, and offered to let me visit her in the clinic as much as I wanted. A few weeks later, my cat's health declined late at night and I had to make the difficult decision to euthanize her. Unlike the other specialists she saw, who were pushing for expensive and painful interventions, Apex gave a balanced view regarding the seriousness of her condition, her level of suffering, and my options. When it came time to say goodbye, they could not have been more supportive. They stabilized my cat and put me in a private room with as much time alone to say goodbye as I wanted. The room even had a separate exit so I didn't have to walk back through the lobby while I was crying. The vet was so compassionate and told me stories about her own pets. Afterward, Apex connected me with a cremation/memorialization service and I was able to select the services I wanted via the website. The combined cost of euthanasia and cremation was 2-3 times cheaper than the at-home euthanasia services I'd heard about from friends and was so peaceful and supportive. I never thought I'd go to an emergency clinic for euthanasia, but honestly think that if I ever had to do this again I might go here rather than my normal vet due to the wonderful staff and private space.
