I was worried they wouldn't let me exchange the small cat door I ordered for a larger size because our cats had used it a couple of times but they helped me get it sent in and refunded it upon receipt. Then, their customer service followed up with me until I was able to make the replacement order. When my shipping address was wrong due to a recent move, they followed up again and made sure to get the right information for my card and the shipping address and we are very happy with the final result. I think I just got scammed. I ordered a $600 pet door. I received an email at 9 pm that stated my order was delivered. It was NOT. I checked the tracking info, and according to UPS, my order was delivered to CA -- I live in PA! I've written two emails and have been trying to call around the clock, but I cannot get anyone on the phone. They "say" you can chat with one on their site, but you can't. Thought I could finally replace the dog door divider and keep my pets in at night. So I ordered the small size off pet doors.com after measuring the door to the size they offer which is size SMALL. soon as the package came I could tell it's too big and knew it was wrong and yes, it was much too big. Customer service is a joke and they really should get rid of the bot option because there's no one there whatsoever. After calling and leaving a good number for them to call back, they then called me back on the # that popped up on the caller ID (called from my boyfriend's phone) rather than listening to the actual message that had my phone number in it. Returned the pet door only to learn that they charge ME for the return in the amount of $6 why should you keep $6 of MY money when you're the ones who screwed up, not me. We love our kitty door! I purchased the smallest size flap and the 23" - 28" custom. Our window is even smaller so we trimmed 1" off to make a snug fit. Our neighbor had the proper tools to do this so it was very easy to trim. Installation was easy too. It seals nicely - we don't notice cold air coming through nor rain. Dolly required no training on how to use the kitty window either. I gently put her through once and she figured it out instantly! She is a small kitty but has no problem going through. Dolly uses her paw to gently lift and then puts her head through. The four different settings are very convenient. Do not purchase any pet door from this company. They have extremely poor customer service and will never return your call despite that being the avenue for communication they recommend. I finally had to contact them via the online chat, which repeatedly disconnected, on their website. I purchased a Hale door which I tried to return within the 30 day window but since I never received the courtesy of a return call, I believe they did not return my call so the 30 day return window could pass thus they would charge a 10% restocking fee. I later learned that the Hale pet doors are cheaper on the Hale website. Hale even gives a 10% discount for adopting a rescue. I cannot recommend this business. Check the manufacture's website, you will save money, before buying from these people. Lack of communication runs rampant with this company! read more

We purchased the door because we had "uninvited visitors" (raccoons) enter the house through the previous pet door that we had. So far, it seems that they haven't revisited the inside of the house and the cat got used to the new door very quickly. So it works. The installation was really simple though I recommend a better track lock for preventing from opening the door when it should be locked. Also - we purchased the application for our phone and were able to monitor our cats activities while on vacation. read more

I researched what the best pet door would be and this is the door that I settled on. Although it was expensive, when I received it I realized that it was the Mercedes of the pet door category. Very well made. Installation should have been a lot easier but it wasn't. First off, the hole you are asked to cut in the door is larger than it needs to be and I would prefer to leave as much wood (structural integrity) on the door as I can. The hole was probably an inch longer and wider than it needed to be. Second, once the metal tabs were bent as per instructions the holes wouldn't line up. I had to use a drill to 'move' the screw holes lower (these should have been pre-bent and sized simplifying installation). Im sure installation would have been easier on a flat door my door had decorative panels in it so that was a whole 'nother matter that needed to be figured out. installation was a pain but I am now happy with the way it looks and it works just fine. read more

I bought a door from them that had what I consider a misleading photo (the trapezoidal door didn't really appear as such). I was offered a return without restocking fees, but, unfortunately, we had a death in the family and I was unable to return the product for two months after purchase. They then charged me a 20% restocking fee without any consideration for our circumstances. Returning a $45 pet door was quite low in our priorities during that time. My request to waive the restocking fee was rather rudely rejected IMO. They also charged me sales tax on the restocking fee! I placed an order for a much better Hale pet door on their site, but my wife found the same product for sale at petdoorstore.com for 1/3 less! The exact same product. The service and personal attention I got from Jon at petdoorstore.com was far better than the service at petdoors.com, too. I immediately cancelled the order at petdoors.com and only then did they tell me they had a price match guarantee! I had purchased a cheaper pet door over a year ago but had problem with dust that comes form living in AZ. I like the construction and quality of this door so much better. It was double the price but it works better at keeping the dust low with the stronger flap hold. I like the double flap and the insulated door. Very easy to install. I got help directly with a real person on the phone to find the pet door I needed to get for an interior door AND for a hollow door, which made a big difference in the amount of time it took to install it. I recently hired a handyman to install it and it looks really nice, and it took him maybe 30 minutes to install from start to finish. I had it installed since I recently bought a window room air conditioner, so wanted my cats to have easy access to my bedroom. I've not yet seen how my cats will use the pet door since the a/c was damaged & I'm waiting for a new one to arrive. I measured wrong. 100% my fault. Without taking the door out of the box, I went online to find out if I could return and replace the door. We ordered one of the temporary BugOff screens thinking we'd use it until we could order a permanent pet door from this company. First it took way too long to arrive. It cost more than comparable temporary pet doors but we paid extra because we figured it would be better coming from a Pet Door business. IT WASN'T. It has a horrible chemical smell. It finally arrived after a few weeks. When we placed the order we did a Live Chat with one of their salespeople because we weren't sure about size. We have a standard sized sliding door. She suggested the regular size and we ordered it. Well, the rod is way too short even completely expanded. We measured everything based on installing it correctly and have jerry rigged it so that we have something up. It's not going to work as is and I am definitely not going to them for the permanent pet door. I'll go somewhere closer by where we can actually speak to a live person. Their web site is misleading. These doors are NOT special. You can buy the same doors at Home Depot for a fraction of the cost. But if you have ANYTHING extra done like lowering the step-over, then that's the excuse they use to weasel out of their "low price guarantee" or refunding your money because now they say it's a "different product". My sliding door is an odd height so they actually told me to put a piece of wood on top to hold the pet door in place. They made it sound like it would be easy- it's not! The big box stores don't cut wood that size so we had to by hand. After multiple tries, we have one that fits but the door slides around. The tension is NOT enough to hold it in place. So now I have a door that I can't use. They charged $299.99 for the pet door (Home Depot has the EXACT same door for $164) and another $80 for the step-over. It cost $389 all together- very overpriced. Be VERY, VERY cautious if you order anything from this company. read more
