When I visited the first time, a lap cat who was just spayed, locked her eyes on me....I thought a match! The large man working at the facility said the cat was not up for adoption. He also did not tell me ANYTHING about the process and need to file an "application" online. He only said, after much prodding, it would be a few weeks before the cat would be up for adoption, and I should check back on the website in a few weeks. I will say he was very "STAND-OFF-ISH" to me for an unknown reason. I came back the next week, and the cat was not there. I was told from a more friendly man, that the cat was having its stiches removed and another week or so before the cat would be ready for adoption. But unfortunately, he too did not tell me about the adoption process and need for an online application. Why would people whom are trying to get animals adopted, not tell them about the application process? WHAT ELSE ARE THEY HIDDING?

Will need to sit down and crunch the numbers between one or the other. There isn't a lot of room inside so you'll probably sit outside in your car, pets go in and the waiting begins in the lot. Will update this review with the pricing when I sort out my documentation

The adoption process was super easy, and they were willing to work with with me since we weren't sure my first dog was ready for a fur sibling. They wanted to make sure that the adoption was a good fit for everyone. I can say that compared to other rescues I have worked with, CDR goes out of their way to ensure that they are giving dogs a good home and make sure they are up front about a dogs needs and medical history. Pictures of my CDR friends, Lou and Elliot, are attached. :)

Trying to adopt a cat from City Kitties place was one of the most upsetting experiences I've had in…read moreyears. The way they handled it was so concerning that and I can't in good conscience recommended them to anyone. They are too disorganized and unprofessional to be trusted with the well-being of vulnerable animals. The short version of my story is, they told me for weeks that they were working on my adoption application when they'd actually deleted it because of a technical glitch that they never bothered to tell me about. The full version is as follows: I spent hours filling out the lengthy application to adopt a cat, Lala, from them and waited for weeks to hear back about her. Every time I contacted them about my application, they said they were working on it and I would hear back soon. As time went on, I knew something was off, but I didn't know what. Finally, after weeks of little-to-no communication from them, they sent me a curt email telling me they'd just given the cat to someone else (who applied long after I did, so clearly they have the capability to get adoptions done quickly when they want to) and that they knew all along I'd been trying to adopt her but had deleted my application without considering it and without telling me they'd done so. I was absolutely devastated. I'd wanted that cat so badly and had been waiting for weeks to hear back. I cried for days after getting that message. Everything about the way they handled this was incredibly suspicious and frankly gross. I truly don't understand why they chose again and again, for weeks, to tell me that they were working on my application when that wasn't true. They should have told me that there'd been a glitch so I could fill out a new one - that would have taken no more time and effort than telling me they were working on it. (Not to mention, the whole time this was happening, this poor little cat was homeless. Did they not care about her at all?) At the very least, they should have just said at the beginning that they weren't considering me; that would have saved me weeks of anxiety, confusion, and uncertainty and then the heartbreak at the end. No one at the organization acknowledged that I was hurt or that telling me they were working on my application when they'd actually deleted it was, at best, a wildly inappropriate and unprofessional thing to do. FF, I now have a lovely cat I adopted from Last Chance Animal Rescue and we're very happy together.

I won't work with a group who doesn't care where an animal is going. This rescue did all of their due diligence to ensure that I am a responsible owner and that makes me very happy to support this organization. My coordinator was exceptionally responsive and always had the best interest of the dog at heart. I couldn't be more in love with our new puppy! As for the poor reviews, I think many people expect this to be an easy and quick process - it shouldn't be. A new pet is a big commitment and it's worth the effort. I'd very happily work with this group again.

"This has never happened before" claimed Katherine. Unprofessional and unethical. Dog is a beautiful mix but the papers given to me by Katherine at adoption indicated a lab/miniature poodle and there is NO poodle in this dog! Breeder on papers indicate Amish. Again issue of morality with inaccurate papers. He had been re-homed/fostered several times by five months and that should have alerted me. Good natured and sweet but does not know when to stop whatever he is involved in, especially play with other dogs or children, is rough and extremely strong at 60 lb. According to a top/well known trainer in Potomac, "it is in the wiring" and he is not invited back to her facility. Fortunately, another excellent trainer is a family friend and does take him with the understanding that he stays with the humans rather than the other dogs, whom he tortures. Now I adore him, sharing my bed, and giving him Prozac twice a day plus CBD oil on particularly bad days. No dog parks for him though.
