She…read moreis a little shy at first, but generally settles in right away and makes friends very easily. Well, not at Kick. There is an element of snobbery here and sadly the worst offender is the owner. Some days she has a smile and says hello - most other days she has a nasty scowl and acts like she's never seen me in her life. It's weird and uncomfortable to say the least. Forget my daughter not being happy there - I would dread going and I'm an adult! My daughter came into the class later than most and there was already a little clique in place that she didn't penetrate - no help from the instructor who doesn't seem to encourage a team environment. We've since moved to a different studio where the difference was immediate and we are very happy now. Not surprisingly, I've since spoken to several parents who left Kick for the same reasons. It's not worth it unless your goal is to give your child a mean girl experience and lower her self esteem.

Getting in my pump before Yelp Staycation weekend event partying commences. Thanks for the free…read moreadmission Yelp! Smaller Gold's Gym located in Pier Village. Nice selection of equipment, free weights, cardio, racks, dumbbells, and machines. The facility itself is not overly huge, but it is packed with enough equipment to get in a great workout. Also offers all types of classes - yoga, boot camp, zumba, pilates, etc. Decent hours. Located right across the street from the Ocean Place resort. Everything is sparkling clean and well maintained including the locker room. There is also a staff of top-notch trainers on hand and helpful employees. Nice cafe area too to grab a protein smoothie after your workout. The normal daily pass for visitors is a bit steep though at $20 a day, and when I asked they offered a multi day pass deal if doing a 2 or 3 day weekend here they said no, only a weekly pass. As with everything in this tourist village where prices are inflated the same goes here. Just surprised they don't work out special rate deals for those staying at Ocean Place next door. It's a missed opportunity. Overall, had a good workout, and the beach location was a plus, along with the free pass from Yelp made it even better.

You can workout at your own pace or take part in a class, whatever fits your needs. There has never been more than two other people in there working out at the same time as me so you just feel like you can let loose and breath freely.
