I'm not a member and I will never become a member nor anyone of my family, friends and anyone I share this horrible experience my wife and I encountered with a male staff member at Pier Village NJ Golds Gym, Tuesday 7/11/2023 at approximately 01:00 pm. My wife near blacked out from heat exhaustion in front of Golds Gym when I quickly sat her in a folding chair and flagged down a police woman for help. I explain to the police woman that she must've suffered heat exhaustion and she needs to be in a cool place for a moment. I quickly ran inside the Gym and explained to the male staff member at the counter the circumstances and kindly asked if I can bring my wife inside the cool environment for a moment and possibly use the ladies room to run some cold water on her face in order to regain consciousness. I further explained that she has a heart condition. The male staff member said, "I'm sorry, the facilities are for members only, but here's a restroom outside across the street by the boardwalk." (To get to the restroom on the boardwalk meant crossing 2 roads and walking approximately 50 yards in the blazing heat, hence my wife couldn't walk). In my opinion, this Golds Gym staff member clearly lacks ethics training. We are human beings and human beings are able to compute, understand, use common sense and sympathize in circumstances such as medical emergencies. Countless times I've extended myself helping people in medical emergency situations by simply thinking, what if that was my family member. More importantly my wife regained consciousness after someone offered us cold water to run over her head while she sat in the shade. I did help walk her to the rest room located on the board walk and thank the lady officer for her assistance. Getting in my pump before Yelp Staycation weekend event partying commences. Thanks for the free admission Yelp! Smaller Gold's Gym located in Pier Village. Nice selection of equipment, free weights, cardio, racks, dumbbells, and machines. The facility itself is not overly huge, but it is packed with enough equipment to get in a great workout. Also offers all types of classes - yoga, boot camp, zumba, pilates, etc. Decent hours. Located right across the street from the Ocean Place resort. Everything is sparkling clean and well maintained including the locker room. There is also a staff of top-notch trainers on hand and helpful employees. Nice cafe area too to grab a protein smoothie after your workout. The normal daily pass for visitors is a bit steep though at $20 a day, and when I asked they offered a multi day pass deal if doing a 2 or 3 day weekend here they said no, only a weekly pass. As with everything in this tourist village where prices are inflated the same goes here. Just surprised they don't work out special rate deals for those staying at Ocean Place next door. It's a missed opportunity. Overall, had a good workout, and the beach location was a plus, along with the free pass from Yelp made it even better. read more

Extremely frustrated with this ownership. Gym closed during Covid and when they reopened in Sept started automatically charging again. Nothing was sent in writing. I have not been back and now being told I owe hundreds. When you go in to cancel (because you have to do it in person with a manager)the phantom owner Mark S is traveling again. There is no manager. This place is a messss! No one knows whats going on. The suana is always full of toilet paper. I went to a yoga class and no one showed up to teach twice and everyone was upset. It turned out the yoga teacher moved to florida and no one at the gym even knew.... The smoothie bar isnt working because theres no yogurt ever or ingredients. When I call about the classes to ask details about whats involved no one has a clue either. Whoever is running this place needs to get their shit together. read more

This gym sucks!!! It's dirty from the shower to the studios to the equipment. Towels are never ready or they run out and the staff just shrug their shoulders. The staff barely say hello to you when you walk in the door. What kind of nonsense is this ?? I'm only here in the summer thankfully I don't have to join but it's horrid to come to beautiful Long Branch beachfront and have to see this gym be wasted with a company/ staff and management that don't care at all about their reputation or this location. Regarding a specific trainer, this is also a joke. I went to an ABS class and to start the male trainer came ten minutes late. And then he proceeded to yell out exercises to the full class of talking ladies while stating he was tired of hearing complaints about being late. He then said this is the last ABS class because of the complaints in between he's yelling "Go Go Go!" over and over. Next he commanded another exercise that we had to figure out how to do. There was no direction no motivation and no help. At this point I'm not sure what me and my friend are getting out of this class. We aren't regulars in the class so we aren't familiar with this style however we regularly exercise in our full time home in NYC but neither of us have attended such a poorly orchestrated class. Why wasn't there a proper headset on him and good loud motivating music on with proper instruction and guidance. This was total BS!!! I workout often and know good trainers and classes!!! This was horrendous. These some clearly have no clue what a good hardworking trainer is. They work with everyone and help each person and guide the class with positioning techniques to make sure everyone is doing the exercises correctly and effectively. A few times I was questioning the safety of the exercises for my lower back. I also noticed a few women doing the exercises incorrectly and worried they would hurt themselves. All in all this is a horrible gym experience!!! And after reading these other reviews about Golds LB confirms my experience!! Do NOT join or bother with this gym!! read more

Great place to workout. Always walk in to be greeted by the front desk staff who always greet you and carry a positive vibe. The maintenance staff is also very kind and helpful. The men's locker room is always clean along with the bathrooms and showers. Huge variety of equipment so you always find different types of workouts. Hours are great,so you can plan on working out any time of the day. Everyone here is friendly and I've gotten to know many people here. I've been training here for a year now and don't have thoughts about leaving anytime soon. read more

I tried to contact the sales manager Toni who will never respond to you. I have also tried calling since the gym re-open and the owner still did not refund the charges! Really small gym overall, no deadlifting/Olympic lifting platforms, staff are very rude and impatient. Day pass is 20 bucks and since I thought the gym was as big as I looked, i bought it, but it was most definitely not worth it. Every machine is very cramped, and music isn't great. read more

Great classes from spin to pilates to paddle boat and more. No basketball court or pool. Which certainly makes the other nearby gyms competitive. For me this gym is down the street, I can ride my bike and I'm a classroom junkie so it works. Just hope the parking situation next year won't be the confusing fiasco it was this summer. I have been coming to this gym for many years and I have to say that I am highly disappointed with the quality and service of the gym. Front desk/ shake bar associates are unfriendly and extremely rude (with the EXCEPTION of trainers and class instructors whom are friendly and caring). You ask them a question or for a shake and immediately they give you attitude, roll their eyes and simply become busy to assist you. Meanwhile the are just standing their doing absolutely nothing. You try to reach out to the owner and he is never around, always traveling and just doesn't care. Being a high end gym you get the same if not lower quality of service as a low budget gym. read more
