I am so happy that we went with Personal Touch Dining as our wedding caterer! They are one of the approved caterers at Scripps Seaside Forum. They took care of the table/chair rentals, linens, lawn market lighting, draping, cocktail hour food, buffet, dessert and late night snacks for us. We had our tasting in January for our April wedding and we were really nervous since we already paid so much for the food before even trying it, so luckily it was delicious! The tastings are an additional $50 per person. For tray passed bites, we chose, chicken & waffles, watermelon skewers and mediterranean herb shrimp. Our guests asked if they were going to bring more out because it was all so good! For entrees, we chose the dry rubbed grilled tri tip with the carving station and the teriyaki salmon. We chose the churro station for dessert and that was a really big hit with our guests. For all of that, with staffing charges and taxes, it was $19k. More than we originally wanted to pay for our wedding catering, but it was worth it with how easy they made it for us. We found PTD to be very easy to work with, our guests continue to say that our wedding food was the best wedding food they'd had. I am vegan and shopped around a lot for an all vegan caterer but honestly PTD had just as many options as any other vegan restaurant and offered them at a very reasonable price. In the end we decided to do a buffet, our guests loved the Brussel sprouts, eggplant towers, and the tri tip (our non-vegan option). My now-husband and I cannot say enough great things about our experience working with Personal Touch Dining as our wedding caterer!! Personal Touch Dining was one of around 8 - 10 approved caterers for our venue (La Jolla Woman's Club). We had done two tastings with other caterers but weren't feeling confident about either. When I reached out to PTD, I received a timely and informative response from Annalisa. We worked through a tentative menu plan, which wasn't the easiest ask as we wanted to cater to a variety of diets (I'm vegan, we have a decent amount of family and friends who were gluten-free and/or didn't eat red meat). The team was SO accommodating. We scheduled our tasting and had a truly exceptional experience with Annalisa and team. The ambiance in the tasting room was inviting and romantic. They offered us complimentary sparkling wine and the food absolutely blew us away. We were also able to look at china, linens, and other upgrades - which was so helpful to feel and see in person! Staying within budget was important to us and we were able to find a great selection within range. The cost was very reasonable for the quality of food and service. Communication with Annalisa and the PTD team was a dream. Many questions and tweaks came up on my end in the months leading up to our wedding day; I felt very taken care of through the entire process. We had so many guests compliment how good the food was - several said it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. I'd have to agree! The Teriyaki Salmon and Baked Eggplant Stacks specifically were major hits. The catering staff provided top-notch service. Everyone was professional and warm. We were finally able to have our dream wedding in September 2021 and it was everything we hoped it would be. Of all the components that go into a wedding, I thought catering and event rentals would be the most stressful. However, PTD's team was incredibly responsive and easy to work with. Lauren, Annalisa, and Sam were amazing! Our original headcount was 110 but came down to 65 due to pandemic reasons, so we did become subject to food minimums. But it was an excuse to add another appetizer and choose great entrees :) The food was really good (probably the best wedding food I've had!), and the service was excellent. I forgot to take a picture of the appetizers, but the waiters brought us a flight during dinner, in case we hadn't had a chance to try them all during cocktail hour. I thought that was super thoughtful. We got to take home around 5 extra entrees, which ended up being really handy easy meals as we recovered from the wedding weekend! We also did an open bar and event rentals through PTD. Since our ceremony and reception were at the same venue, PTD also did the flip service free of charge. This team is the best! I hired PTD to cater my wedding, and from communication and planning to execution, the entire team delivered 5 star service all the way through. And all my guests LOVED the food. I got many compliments about how delicious the food was. Part of the reason I booked them was because they do not have your generic wedding food. Everything on their menu sounded delicious, which it certainly was. Plus, I think they are fairly priced. I really loved working with them. They went the extra mile to help me get my dream wedding, and would rebook them for another event. Pre-planning & Communication: I was so impressed with their communication. I always got an email response within 24 hrs and someone was always able to talk on the phone with me if needed. I felt like a bride with a million questions because I had never hired a caterer before, but they always treated me with care, respect and never treated any question as stupid. The one thing to note is they can help you with more than you think (i.e. heaters, renting nice wood bars). I never saw those additional items listed anywhere in their services, so don't be afraid to ask. Oh and I appreciated I could do a taste test with them before booking. A lot of other caterers required booking first, which I didn't like. Execution: The staff on-site was amazing! Everyone was nice to me, the other vendors, and the guests. Food was delicious, and guests appreciated how on-top of it the staff was. Working with the PTD team was simply amazing! Annalisa is so sweet and helpful. I really appreciated that she gave recommendations and even sent samples of linens. She always responded in a timely manner and answered all my questions :) I felt very well taken care of. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is mostly for the bar service. We booked a bartender and the bar rentals with PTD, and provided our own alcohol. The bar was a little bit of an eyesore. It did not look classy, just two tables with all the alcohol (even the extra wines) on top in plain sight. I understand having the bottles out for people to see what we offered but I didn't know that everything would just be set out in an unorganized manner. It looked like a frat party :/ Second issue with the bar was that the bartender would not serve the scotch we purchased on the rocks. In the PTD contract it says no neat drinks / shots, but on the rocks should have been okay. We read the contract prior and purchased a nice scotch for our guests to enjoy. Unfortunately since we could not serve it that was $70 down the drain. If you do do bar service I would just clarify this with the staff before purchasing alcohol you might not be able to serve. read more

We had a wedding at the Old Rancho at the beginning of this summer. It is a beautiful adobe estate, with multiple levels of yard/garden used for weddings. PTD did a wonderful job coordinating and catering our wedding at the location. I didn't hire a planner and depended on their month and day-of- coordination. I did a lot of the planning and then handed over the details to them. They are an efficient and capable team! We are thankful for Kendra who went through the original contracting process and tasting, Caitlin who took over the month of coordinating, and Sam who was our day-of-coordinator. Our wedding turned out beautiful and we had a lot of compliments from guests that are due to the PTD team. The food and service was excellent. Sam kept the vendors to the timeline and kept the micro-events moving. We had a cocktail hour and sit down dinner, which was delicious from start to finish. They even went the extra mile to create a tray for the bride and groom to privately snack on. We could not have asked for a better venue or services. We got married on 06/23/23 and our wedding was everything we imagined and more. We didn't have a worry, concern or need to lift a finger as everything was done for us and very done well. We just had to enjoy the celebration and we did! The meal was one of the best I've ever had and our guests are STILL raving about it! Personal Touch Dining was extremely helpful with recommendations, communication once the contract was signed and the entire planning process. The only thing I will warn you about are the costs. They advertise the venue as being "all-inclusive" but please be aware that the term only includes the meal, service and venue. It does not include extra fees, gratuities, outside vendors or upgrades. That is ALL extra cost on top of the already pricy venue. If money is tight, I would not suggest this venue, but if you have money to spare and to go all out, then I HIGHLY recommend it. My groom and I were blindsided at the beginning not knowing that there was quite a lot of extra costs outside of what they were indicating as "all-inclusive." I'm just saying, be mindful and get all the information up front. Ask lots of questions because there are A LOT of hidden costs that you may not expect. read more

Rian was so nice and on point the day of our wedding, he kept everything on time and made us feel like family. 3. The food was great and everything we expected. Cons: 1. Iman was very rude. From our food tasting where she seemed like she wanted to leave early and rushed us out she would even let us have a second glass of wine, to our misunderstanding about the guest count which was the difference of 2 people (which she charged us for) , and finally when she told us our small amount of flowers that were cleared by her assistant were not welcome at the venue during our rehearsal. She told me as she turned her back to me "no need to get crazy" We paid tens of thousands for this wedding and she was not accommodating by any means. 2. The stairs are extremely uneven and may cause the ladies to fall and get injured. read more

Personal Touch Dining operates Mt Woodson Castle, Leo Carillo Ranch, and several other wedding venues near San Diego. My wife and I originally called them to inquire about Leo Carillo Ranch; the ranch was not available on our wedding date, but Mt Woodson Castle was and so we went to check it out. It took all of a few minutes for us to realize that it was the venue for us, and shortly thereafter we entered into business with Personal Touch Dining. The package that Personal Touch Dining provided includes access to the venue, catering, and coordination (pre-wedding and day-of.) Many of our guests described Mt Woodson Castle as "magical;" many of our guests told us that the food was the best they'd ever had at a wedding; my wife and I feel the same way. I'm not really sure what else needs to be said on these fronts. We loved the inclusion of wedding coordination with our package. Iman was the coordinator who handled most of our pre-event planning. I loved her communication style: she laid out all of the decisions that we needed to make and talked us through everything that we had questions about. Iman actually left the company a week before our wedding, but she transitioned everything to her coworker Leah and our event went off without a hitch. Our day-of coordinator, Rian, was a pleasure to work with. He helped put my wife and I at ease during the rehearsal by staying late with us and ironing out details. On the day of the wedding, he was in constant communication with our vendors and with us. Our pre-ceremony events and our speeches went longer than expected, but Rian kept us on track and made up time wherever he could. Out guests were very impressed with the flow and with the transitions. The event staff did a fantastic job of setup, teardown, and serving our guests throughout the day. It was such a whirlwind that my wife and I barely noticed that the staff was there. But looking around, it was abundantly clear that they had been working hard and keeping the event running smoothly. We thank them profoundly. Personal Touch Dining included pre-event and day-of coordination with their base wedding package. With this taken into account, their pricing was far lower than comparable venues. My wife and I found Personal Touch Dining / Mt Woodson Castle to be an excellent value, considering how expensive weddings can be. We would both happily work with Personal Touch Dining in the future, but neither of us plans on getting married again so it would have to be in a different capacity. read more
