I'm new to needing a scooter and was well taken care of here. Rented a nice scooter at a reasonable price and expect I'll buy it eventually.

PMC, what a great place! I reserved a scooter for a week of museum-ing that I knew my joints would not agree with. The check in, check out process was simple and I took their recommendation on the foldy-one that breaks down into three pieces so you can fit it in a car AND travel with it. Super amazing. Very helpful staff who let you try out whatever you want to find a good match/fit. There were lots of people checking out the recliners so I bet those are superb too. They helped me get it into my car and out of to return it. Please tip these folks heavily if you are able! read more

Business manager takes appointments, but doesn't honor them. I first visited Personal Mobility Center only to discover the gate closed in spite of the posted hours. I called and the manager stated that he is only open to the public from 1130am to 2pm. I stated that I would return promptly the following day at 1130. He acknowledged and agreed. Upon returning at 1130 the next day, the gate and door were still closed. I waited patiently for fifteen minutes: no change. I called. No response, straight to voice mail. AVOID THIS BUSINESS. Odd location (tucked back off the street in a house), but great service, really helpful, and decent prices.

I used this company a few years ago when I bought my walker. At that time, the showroom was large, roomy and professional, with a good supply of stock and a helpful, friendly assistant (not Mark, the owner, who we worked with this time). Since then, things have changed, including the location. The owner has kept the original showroom photos on the web (on Google Maps) but they bear no resemblance to current circumstances and therefore they are deceptive. The "showroom" is now upstairs in the back of a building which is difficult to access. The showroom itself is small, untidy, and exceptionally cramped, with limited stock crammed into a small space. I rented a mobility scooter and a ramp from him for one week. The ramp did not work because it was made from material that did not grip the wheels of the mobility scooter, a fact he must have known if he was the professional he claimed to be. On returning the ramp, we requested a price adjustment (the ramp cost $75 to rent for one week) and he was rude and disrespectful and refused. I would not recommend this business. Elizabeth, the scooter user, wrote what's above. I'm the partner...the guy. Contrary to the many reviews I've read about him and his business, I found Mark, the owner of Personal Mobility, to be unscrupulous. His manner was curt, abrasive and confrontational, with an air of superiority. The scooter he rented worked well enough (which is why he got one star). The substandard ramp he rented did not work when we got home (across town). The scooter could not climb the one porch step (less than one foot high) on the rented ramp. The scooter kept slipping. The ramp was unsafe, cheap and useless. When we returned the scooter and ramp, I told him so, and asked for an adjustment (not a refund, but something mutually reasonable) on the ramp rental cost. He flatly refused, telling me I should have brought it back sooner (at our time, expense, inconvenience, and aggravation). I balked at his suggestion. If Mark doesn't know his products, doesn't keep them up, and knowingly rents something defective and unusable and unstable, he doesn't deserve our business, or yours. Don't make our mistake. There are many other options in Portland. Choose him last, if you must. Better not at all, to avoid regret. read more

After driving by 2x per day for 13 years I finally stopped in. The owner was very nice, he has some real cool and useful items like a cane that compacts to fit in a small bag (~$15). And many seniors could definitely benefit from a raised toilet seat. read more

I really enjoyed our experience here. We were looking to find a mobility scooter for rental use over a weekend. It took us two weeks to find a place that would rent daily to someone. We also needed equipment that could handle a higher weight limit and longer length. Helpful, informed, and full of options in this store. I was blown away by their general medical supplies as well; it's rare to find diabetic socks in size XL in stock! It's worth calling and then going in and looking. I see someone else had a rough phone call, but I am here to say that I've had a wonderful experience.... Means more to me than just a call. read more

The rudeness of the person with whom I spoke today is inexcusable. Especially since this store's clientele is generally people who are experiencing serious mobility issues due to injury or illness. I strongly recommend against dealing with this business. read more

I was in town for my nephew's graduation and needed to rent a scooter for my mother so that she would be able to get around town. I had the luck of finding Personal Mobility Center. They were able to rent a scooter to me for $85 for 2 days, which to me was a great deal. When we ran into a minor problem, I called and Herb was able to resolve it to my satisfaction. He was so professional and extremely nice, I honestly cannot say a negative thing about this company. They were there when I needed them and it made the world of difference in the time we spent in Portland. I highly recommend them for any of your DME needs. read more

Have nothing but praise for the customer service I received from Mark. I was allowed to *borrow* a walker for my mother to try before I even spent a dime. When it didn't work out, Mark worked with me to find one that did. No pressure. I will be buying from Personal Mobility Center again and recommend that when you need these type of supplies for your loved one you do the same. read more

Mark has been super helpful to me as I have navigated my dad's changing needs over the years. He is honest, helpful and supportive, but also giving us space to make personal choices based on our needs at the time. He is sensitive to an individuals financial situation and never tried to oversell. I was even able to consign an electric scooter with him which worked out well for all parties.
