The Persepolis was an amazing choice for our meal. The food was delicious with flavorful spices and generous servings. My husband and I had the mixed platter as an appetizer; there were lots of choices and all were good. We also shared the kebob platter and saffron rice which, again, did not disappoint. Out of the three couples in our party, everyone gave rave reviews about the saffron rice and meat kebobs. It was such an nice option from the usual pub menu that we see, and I would absolutely add it to my go to list of places to dine. I also enjoyed the atmosphere. It was spacious and comfortable. We were able to chat without the noisy distractions that many restaurants have. The server was second-to-none; he was friendly, attentive and well-informed about the various dishes. We decided to try this place for a late lunch after landing a St. John's airport. What a great decision. The location is easy to reach, and has plenty of parking. The interior is lovely - nicely decorated with Persian themes - but not so fancy that it feels discouraging to bring the whole family. The tables are spaced well so it isn't too crowded or noisy. Great place for conversation. We ordered the Mast O Borani appetizer to start - a garlicky yogurt dish served with naan flatbread. It was cool, creamy and delicious. For our main dishes, we ordered mirza ghasemi (an eggplant and scrambled egg stew) and zereshk polo morgh, which was a slow-roasted quarter of a chicken with barberries. Both dishes were served with a generous helping of fluffy, saffron-infused rice. Everything we had was really delicious and had its own distinctive flavorings and spices. We were really impressed. So impressed, in fact, that we ordered a few more different dishes to go so that we could try more things when we got home. They prepared our to go order while we ate, and when we left, we not only had a whole bunch of leftovers from our meal, we had more fresh dishes to try - what a feast to look forward too. The lady who served us was really nice. She said the place had been there for a few years, and was run by her family, with special recipes that her family had developed. What a lucky find! Our large group ended up here when the downtown St John's restaurants were all full on a Friday night and it turned out to be a terrific end to our two week visit to Newfoundland with the best meal yet. The food was delicious and attractively presented. Great for lamb lovers but there are beef, chicken, and vegetarian options too. We had the Mast o borani starter and ordered extra naan with it which was a good call. The staff were friendly, and helpful with all our questions about Persian food. The restaurant is near the airport, and has a parking lot. The location is on the city outskirts but the interior decor is elegant. read more

I had the Chicken Kabab dinner and it was delicious and visually appealing. The chicken pieces were lightly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The saffron rice was also good and adding the subtle taste of saffron to the meal was all I needed to be transported back to the exotic bazaars of One Thousand and One Nights.
