I had just been in about 6 months prior, but I set the appointment. Although my first appointment to establish care took quite a while, I waited less than 30 minutes to see her for a follow-up. Once in the room, the doctor was apologetic. Apparently, the staff had not been attentive to her notes where she asked for refills to be given. I didn't appreciate the lost sleep (night shift nurse problem), but I did appreciate her owning the error. Ultimately, I am satisfied with the care she provides, and I will continue to see her for my general care in the future. Dr. Shorter has been my primary care provider for a year. She is kind, respectable, and efficient.

When I do manage to reach someone, the staff is rude and unhelpful. The nurses do not return calls. They has prescribed a medication that I am allergic to on multiple occasions, and it is nearly impossible to reach his nurse. Even when I explain that the medication prescribed could be life-threatening for me, no one follows up. They are also very poor at completing insurance forms correctly, and when mistakes are made, there is no support to resolve the issue. If you have any other option, I strongly recommend choosing a different facility.

I was admitted for congestive heart failure once as well and one of the female doctors came in and shut off my oxygen when I needed 7 liters in order to breath. I recently moved to the area and needed a new primary doctor. I did some research, and after…read morelooking at reviews on several practices in the area, I finally found Houston Family Care at Houston Lake, Dr. Izzo. I called and was able to get an appointment for the following week. The lady who scheduled my appointment was very friendly and told me she would mail me my new patient paperwork to fill out in advance of my appointment to save time. The paperwork took a long time to fill out, so I'm glad that they mailed it. Parking is plentiful, so there were no issues finding a spot. The receptionist was friendlyish. Once you get past the front desk, the staff is very friendly. I was taken to the back within 10 mins of my appointment time. All of the nurses that I interacted with had great personalities, and they made me feel very comfortable. The nurse took my vitals and gathered information for the doctor. I sat in the room and waited for 30 mins to an hour for the doctor to come in. Doctor Izzo has great bedside manners and is very knowledgeable. He took all of my concerns seriously and set up referrals for everything we spoke about since I needed all new doctors. I'm pleased with my new doctor's office and physician. In addition, Dr. Buchanan has joined the staff and he too is wonderful. Both doctors will take their time, explain your test and recommend treatment, while respecting your concerns and opinions.
