I have been going to Dr. Lucero for over 15 years. I have received great care from Dr. Lucero over the years. I also had good care from dental hygienists over the years and his assistant. They were always very professional and pleasant to deal with. Because of this, I have tolerated and overlooked the attitude and treatment I get from the receptionist. She is rude, obnoxious and condescending. It is night and day from the days when Beverly was there. I truly missed her. It is true how your office staff can make you or break you. Today, all I requested was to be able to schedule a follow up appointment with Dr. Lucero soon. She kept on repeating that I had used up my maximum insurance allowance for the year and that Dr. Lucero will see me in Jan. 2025. I asked what if I was willing to pay out of pocket. She simply would not hear me out; but talked over me, through me while enunciating every word like I was a child. All she needed to say was I will talk it over and have him call you. It doesn't even have to be Dr. Lucero; it could even be his assistant simply to hear me out. I was totally dismissed by her. She always made it difficult at appointment scheduling before too. After my last treatment, I had to come back for a weekly check up a couple of times. She would make faces when I asked for certain dates or times because I work out of the area even after Dr. Lucero's assistant said that they would work around my schedule as she only needed 5 minutes to check the area. I know I am just one patient and Dr. Lucero does not need my business. It is a shame how something like this can destroy a long term relationship. I am deeply disappointed. read more

After our family dentist passed away I was hard pressed to find a new dentist. I tried so many and wasn't comfortable or happy with the half dozen I tried. Then I stumbled upon Dr. Lucero's office in the beautiful downtown La Verne area. Dr. Lucero is a nice, honest and experienced dentist. He has a great practice with a great team of people - the front office staff and hygienists are all very nice. They accept most insurance and Beverly will always call in advance to get pre-authorization so that there are never any surprises. read more

One fine day I needed to find a new dentist close to my home because I had moved. So I called Dr. Lucero's office to see if they were accepting new patients, the receptionist told me they were, good! And did they accept Blue Shield of California? Yes again, good! So I made an appointment, went in, filled out the new patient questionnaire and submitted my Blue Shield of California insurance information to the receptionist. After the visit was over, the receptionist told me that I had to pay out of pocket $427 because I was a "first time patient", and this is their policy for first time patients. And that I would be reimbursed when my insurance paid them. Okay, fine, but unusual I thought. So I paid. Hmm, I've never had to pay "full pop" up front to a dentist before, but I liked him and he gave me good news. I received my Blue Shield statement in the mail about 3 weeks later and was totally shocked to see that Blue Shield only paid $55 of the $427! So I immediately called them to ask why, and they told me that Dr. Lucero is "out of network" and that they'll only cover me for $55. What! I was furious! Why didn't the receptionist tell me that they were out of network?! They know this! I feel I've been bamboozled by their receptionist NOT telling me that they were out of network! They waited until after the dental service was performed to disclose the cost too. Standard X-rays, cleaning and evaluation. A simple and consistent set of procedures that are time and time again performed like clockwork certainly have a standard cost, right? Like a service for your car, there's an upfront dollar amount disclosed before any work is performed, right? And if any additional work is needed, then an estimate for further repairs is generated, right? Not here... I was hit with the bottom line after all was said and done... Why? Because they knew I was out of network. They didn't tell me this up front because they wanted the work done first, and now their money was guaranteed under the ominous shadow of a "credit ding". Had I been told upfront by the receptionist that they were "out of network", I would have found a different dentist that was IN network!!! Yes, I feel bamboozled! My insurance covers FREE cleanings and FREE X-Rays in network! WTH! BTW It's been 2 months and I not received my $55 that their office owes me. Beware of this crew, you may be their next victim of their leading you to believe that they are in your insurance coverage network when in fact they may not be. FIY they do not have an email address to correspond with documentation, pictures, or on the table communications, very suspicious if you ask me. read more

I've had some extensive work done, and while you are sitting in the chair you are just waiting for the pain to come. At the first hint of discomfort, he addresses it. About a year ago, I visited Dr. Lucero's office and had to have a few fillings. I went to a new dentist this year since I had moved. The fillings Dr. Lucero had put in were soft, apparently because they hadn't been cured properly. My new dentist had to drill and put in new fillings. This not only added to my bill, but probably caused more damage to my teeth. Needless to say, I am so glad I found a new dentist! Also, my dental bills were much higher with Dr. Lucero than they are with my current dentist even though I have the same dental insurance, but to be honest I never bothered to ask for an explanation. Dr. Lucero has been my Dentist since I moved to Southern California in 2014. After my initial introduction appointment, I scheduled a two hour appointment to begin the work of having my many gum line cavities filled. Dr. Lucero understood that I was very self conscious about the state of my many visible cavities and did not waste any time attending to them. In that first two hour appointment, Dr. Lucero filled all my visible gumline cavities and really amazed me with the end result. It was one of the happiest days of my life to finally be unafraid of smiling in public! The rest of 2015 and beginning of 2016 were filled with much more work which included 5 crowns which not only did the job of removing some teeth that were in bad shape, but also helped my bite normalize in form. This morning, Dr. Lucero performed a root canal (my first and hopefully last) and I can report that I had no pain and minimal discomfort during the procedure even though I have always heard that root canals were a procedure to be dreaded. I highly recommend the services of Dr. Lucero based on the quality of his work, the professional and friendly nature of the Doctor and his staff, and clean and inviting state of his facility. read more

Dr Lucero gives great service. I started coming to him about 4 years ago when my previous dentist started telling me I needed extensive dental work. Dr. Lucero examined me and said it wasn't true and here I am 4 years later needing only regular cleanings. He is very friendly and so are all his staff.
