I've been wanting to try Ottawa Perogies for some time, but they have limited hours and are a bit out of the way for me, so I only recently got around to it. They sell perogies and other Eastern European snacks. Overall, the food was good, and reminded me of the home cooking of the mothers of my Slavic friends. I found the prices a bit high for what they were, but I guess nowadays that's not unsurprising. I got a ground pork and rice bun ($4), a ground beef crepe ($4) and a cottage cheese pancake ($4). The ground pork and rice bun was reminiscent of a cabbage roll in bun form, minus the cabbage and the tomato sauce, lol. It was heavy on the bun and rice and light on the pork, but tasted like comfort food. It reminded me a bit of the Asian buns filled with fillings like BBQ pork or curry beef as well. The bun was soft and almost brioche-like. The ground beef crepe was tasty, albeit a bit oily for my tastes. The crepe is a bit sweet, while the meat is slightly salty. The cottage cheese pancake was slightly sweet and I should have eaten this one last, as it was more dessert-like. I like that the cheese was thick and had a nice texture. Overall, the three items made a good snack. Service was courteous. The lady asked if I wanted the items warmed up and I liked that she placed them on a real plate to microwave them before putting them into a styrofoam box (I have seen some places put styrofoam in the microwave [shudder]). I mean I would have preferred if the box was cardboard, but at least they don't microwave styrofoam. The shop is located in a strip mall. There's plenty of free parking in the strip mall. read more

The place is to go only, there's no sitting available inside. Perogies were freshly made and tasty. The size of one piece is slightly smaller than expected. The service is good, all my questions were answered. Also tried pyrozhky, they were just ok. You can purchase Ukrainian souvenirs at this place as well. read more

A Ukrainian Canadian run perogies and small market that serves both hot and cold food to go. They don't have any seating options but do offer a variety of homemade foods that is worth the stop. Was looking forward to visiting this place and ended up very disappointed. First - very friendly and polite staff but that is about the only positive. Food on the other hand is pretty disgusting. Whoever made it - doesn't know real ukrainian cuisine. What I got: Golubtzi with rice and meat: more rice and barely a "dusting" of meat or maybe it was meat flavored bread. I bought 4, barely was able to finish 2 and the other 2 were thtown out. Pirozhky: two with cabbage and teo with potatoes and meat. Dough for pirozhky was more of a desert dough, not the right kind but ok, it wasn't bad. The ones with cabbage were acceptable a little too watery, nothing spectacular though. Th ones with meat and potatoes, again you could hardly guess there was meat, only by the fact that the lottle brown pecs were in the potatoes one can assume that was meat, yikes! Potatoes though i had to question myself whether these were real potatoes, powdered potatoes or even potatoes at all :/ absolutely gross! Ended up throwing it out. Poppyseed roll: very dry with thin layer of poppy seeds. Not impressed Herring under the vegetables (Seledka pod shuboy): was the worst i have ever had and yet yhe best out of all the food i bought. Watery, herring was waaay too salty. Seems that peas and herring weren't properly drained. I wanted to love this place, dispite the negative reviews i gave it a chance, we drove about 30 min out of our way to check it out. The only positive experience were the staff. Very sweet, helpful and polite. They got the two stars. Food gets no star at all. read more

First off, let me just say that I really really wanted this place to be good. I went in at about 1 p.m. and was absolutely starving. Normally any time I spend $20 in a food joint I leave feeling full and satisfied. Today was not the case. From the microwaved food, to the tiny portion/huge price to charging me 2 dollars for an iced tea that clearly says 1.29$ right on the can. I can see how this place stays open with how much they charge, but I just didn't find the quality matched the price. I unfortunately won't return, because I already know what to expect if I do. read more

I have been here multiple times and thought it was due I write a review. This place has the most delicious Ukrainian perogies. I usually get the mushroom or onion perogies as I can't have dairy, and was shocked by how delicious they are. You can't get anything like this frozen anywhere else! They offer frozen or fresh and clearly mark their vegan options. The service is very home-y and kind. I can't wait to come back for a quick lunch! Only suggestion I would have is with Vegan options and with a presence in the vegan community you look into including vegan sour cream :) Thank you for giving us an option read more

To give this establishment a one star is not even representative of my experience. I went to this restaurant because my previous experience was great, this time far from it. When trying to order the person behind the counter was more concerned with his Uber order and whether it would be ready on time. All food was heated in a microwave (both mine and the uberears order) and was less then adequate. On top of this, I found a little extra protein in my cabbage roll which I reported to the restaurant immediately. It took them almost three weeks to even respond and when they did their offer of a free meal was quickly refused. This little Ukrainian enclave snuggled in the middle of a small strip mall in West Ottawa is a perogie-lovers heaven. Fourteen flavours - savoury and sweet, fresh and frozen await. Throw in some perojkis as well - which are soft rolls with perogi like fillings, some beet salad, cabbage rolls, and even some Ukranian matryoshka dolls, and you have another gem hidden away in a most unsuspecting place. Great little gem! Even though the restaurant isn't large or has the most extensive menu, it makes up in customer service and quality. I've been to many Eastern European restaurants back home but none can compare. The staff is very friendly and helpful. From questions about the menu to questions about the surrounding area, they are there for you. The quality of their offerings is of the highest. Fabulous little place with tasty polish/Ukrainian food. * there were an enormous choice of different types of pierogi * there was stuffed cabbage, barsht, and buns filled with various meats/cabbage/mushroom that were similar to pierogi. * the lady was very nice and friendly and her daughter set the table for us and gave us stickers. She was such a little sweetheart. * there were tons of frozen options for you to buy and take home! Yum! The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because I wish there was a dessert option! We went next door to the Russian deli and bought some European sweets, though, so it worked out well. Definitely recommend read more

This is my favourite place to get pierogies and other Ukranian food. There are so many wonderful options to choose from. The owners are always in the establishment, and they are so dedicated to giving you great food and service. They have takeout and I think some arrangements for delivery can be made.
