When I was finally able to reach Mr. Matz, he told me he was scheduling six or seven weeks out. I asked that he put us on his schedule. Todd told me he would have to "get back to" me with a date and time. He never did. Weeks later, after I still had not heard, I made multiple calls and left messages asking for him to contact me. Finally, he did return a call, and we were able to confirm a date and time. Mr. Matz was very unprofessional when he finally came to the house. He acted as if I was a bother to ask about the process and discuss what I needed surveyed and why. Afterward, when he came in to collect, he informed me that the price for the survey did not include any form of a report of the findings. If I wanted more than the verbal findings, I would have to pay an additional $300. and he could email me. Todd became irritated that I would expect him to provide an invoice of the job, along with documentation showing where the neighbor's fence and mow strip were encroaching on our property by either 13.5 ft. as Todd said he found, or 17.5 ft. as the county had told us. The north mow strip on the neighbor's property was poured over the original corner marker stake. When I called to let Todd know that I had mailed payment, he insisted he had told me $350. Which was not what I had written down while we were talking. I sent him the additional check that same day. The topper was that we had only asked him to survey the east side of our property, then to measure the length of the north property line, as we did not have a tape measure that long. He agreed to walk the line with his "wheel" which he routinely used for the same purpose. The North line had already been surveyed before that fence was put up. Todd was not asked to survey the north, west or south sides, or to document a map of the entire property, but he still then, pinformed me, that, now, to document findings for that one line, and the length of the north line, for Franklin County, would be another $2,000! That was in addition to the $850. I had now paid him. Remember, he told me the $350. was for email documentation of his findings. When our real estate agent contacted Mr. Matz, earlier this week, she was told that he had never surveyed that property line, nor did he have any record of receiving any money from me. So... Today, I will scan the handwritten invoice I kept where Todd had documented "paid in full." So I have something to verify he DID survey that east line. I will also have to try to find his original email and a second response showing where he had only written a single paragraph, then, I will call the credit union to request their assistance in getting the old check copies for $500, $300. and for $50. as my online statements do not go back that far. This "half assed" job, which should have taken me very little time to arrange for the survey, then; confirm what was needed when he arrived, received documentation of his finding which would show the original property line and where the current fencing is over on the property we purchased and have been paying taxes and insurance on. Finally, I would have paid Todd the amount we had originally determined and provided copies to both the neighbor and the county. Now I have, and will, spend hours just trying to get that single page. The entire interaction has been so ugly. I know I have verbalized my frustration with friends. I'm afraid I would do the same with anyone who asks me. I would never recommend Todd Matz for any surveying needs.

I would hire this Company again. They came out and marked property lines for a house being built…read more Thanks Guys
