My friend and I traveled to Scandinavia from the US and spent several days at the Perminalen Hotel in downtown Oslo.
We found it to be very affordable: For $117/night, we shared a 2-bed room with our own bathroom and a full complementary breakfast offered in the cafeteria on the first floor. This may sound a lot more expensive than you're used to, but Oslo is not a cheap town. With the private accommodation and breakfast- we found this to be a fantastic option.
The hotel is located in the heart of the downtown so it is easy to get to from the central station and other main lines. There are a lot of restaurants and shops close by on Karl Johans gate (the main street- mostly expensive or touristy shit, but lots of stuff to see and do) and the place is a short walk to the waterfront.
All in all- we had a great stay and really enjoyed the cleanliness, professionalism, and quality of our accommodations.
We definitely recommend a stay if you're looking for an easy place to crash in one of the most expensive (and beautiful!) cities in the world. read more
