Dr. Shelley is as good as it gets. I threw out my back while I was going to college in Boston. I went to a doctor up there who was sort of a "minimal movement, minimal adjustment" doctor, which I didn't like at all, so my mom recommended Dr. Shelley. The new office has a bunch of different services aside from the chiropractic practice. They also offer something called "Power Pilates" which can be taught privately, or in group classes. They have since added an accupuncturist as well. Dr. Shelley is one of the nicest doctors you could hope to have working on you. She is completely thorough, clearly very good at what she does, and makes the experience an enjoyable one. Shelly Perline is one of the best chiropractors ever. I have had chronic neck pain for years, and every time I see her, she does great muscle testing, and is really able to isolate my pain, and give me a few good cracks, She never pushes follow-up visits on me and I so much appreciate that. I have to say, I'm somewhat of an expert on chiroprators. My sister is a chiropractor, so I've been getting adjustments for the past 12 years. Also, a lot of friends are chiropractors and I have moved around a bit, so I would say I've been adjusted by anywhere from 20-30 different chiropractors in my life, maybe more. I found Dr. Perline after recently moving to New York. I can honestly say, Dr. Perline is the most thorough chiropractor I've ever visited. I came in for pain in the lower back area and neck, but she really checks the full body, including issues you didn't know existed, and makes sure you leave feeling a lot better. I went for a visit today and by the time I got back to my office, after a bit of walking and having the muscles readjust, most of the pain is gone. She even helped me out a bit with the price, since I am currently looking for a job and do not have insurance. I would highly recommend her services to anyone, whether you are used to going to chiropractors or whether you are thinking of trying them out for the first time. I took my infant son who is suffering from colic to see Dr. Perline and she did a great job. Not only did her work help to reduce his crying that day (after only the first visit), but she was extremely gentle. I was worried about taking a newborn to a chiro, but I can't complain about the work she did. She gently held/rocked/shushed him through the whole process. Very impressed and will take him back. I've been seeing Dr. Shelley Perline since about the 6th month of my pregnancy for a misalignment of the right sacroiliac joint (aka lower back pain). As of today, I am 40 weeks pregnant, and can honestly say that I would not have the ease of movement that I have if it weren't for Dr. Shelley's adjustments. She is very friendly, approachable and willing to listen to and educate her patients. I recommend her to all pregnant women, whether you're preparing for a natural, non-invasive birth, have a breech baby, looking to remain active during your pregnancy, or just hoping for some relief from aches and pains. I should also mention that Christine, the office manager is super friendly and accommodating. Dr Shelley is a miracle worker. I first walked into her office w a tremendous amount of pain. I could not even sit, that's how painful I was. I have degenerative and bulging discs along my spine as I had brought copies of my MRI taken early this year. My pain was sharp and had extended along the back of my legs, sciatica like symptoms. When I left her office and woke up the next morning, I felt like a new woman. I am not exaggerating as I could not imagine the tremendous amount of relief after my initial visit. She is an internal part in making sure I am able to perform in my job as an outside sales rep, lifting heavy bags up and down subway stairs. My 2 kids and I have been visiting Dr. Shelley for the last few months and love getting adjusted! My kids consider it a massage since Dr. Shelley is so gentle and I see it as a time to literally straighten myself up, after all the daily movement that accompanies a mom with 2 young kids in New York.
