Perkz Cafe is a great little place that offers a good selection of food on it's menu. The service was excellent and quick. The food is excellent and very tasty. We had 10 people as part of our motorcycle group and we all had a great meal. The prices are very reasonable. I had the BBQ sandwich and the fillet of fish my wife had were all excellent. Well seasoned. Not greasy. Everything I've had is just lovingly executed. I had the baby back ribs lunch special with homemade potato salad AND baked beans with a roll. Realized I was Mmm-ing and stomping my foot while eating. Not kidding. IT WAS THAT GOOD. Tender ribs with that perfect pull with the most incredible homemade bbq sauce. Tomato based, little sweet, little heat, bottle it I wanna take it home! BEST potato salad I've EVER had ( don't tell Mom or Grandma). The beans are a meal in themselves and can be eaten with a fork. Sweet tea is so good I drank the 1st cup immediately. It's not as sugar heavy as "Southern" sweet tea is. Y'all know what I'm talking about. Homemade desserts are a must try. Any/all of them. Service is so friendly and welcoming. Always a joy to see their smiles. Orders come out quick and correct. Clean. Clean. Clean. Open ceiling showing no dust. Floors & tables are kept clean. No sticky menus. They have a 100% sanitation grade. I love it. Decor is kept simple. Cute signs, a few pictures, & some memorabilia. Just enough to feel homey. Check out the dessert case. (4+2)/2 = 3 I offer the above equation to explain that I have visited Perkz twice and had two different dining experiences. The first time I had a burger and it was very bland. In addition, the fries were also cold and tasteless. Unless you count the taste of old freezer. So why go back? Before I left, I asked if I could sample the bbq, and my server indulged me. I detected real potential, so I returned a couple of weeks later and had a bbq plate. It was delicious! IT ACTUALLY HAD SMOKE! In addition, it was tender and juicy. One of the better bbqs I've had. The baked beans were good, and the hushpuppies had an excellent flavor (but were undercooked). The cole slaw was average. Service was slow, but that is not always a bad thing. A 4 and a 2. That's a 3. So if you're in Lenoir and want a burger, go to Carolina Burger. If you go to Perkz, stick with the bbq. read more

Finally stopped here for lunch after hearing about it from around thirty friends. Perkz is the new go to spot in Lenoir for local flavor. Various southern options leave one with a decision to make whenever looking over the menu. I got the club (which was fantastic) with friend pickles as an appetizer. My grandpa got the two loaded dog combo. Whatever you get, keep in mind that they load up your basket with crispy waffle fries, seasoned to perfection. Trust me, we will be back. read more

Amazing food and service! We were driving by and decided to stop in for a quick bite to eat. Best choice of our trip! The staff was very helpful at directing us to seat ourselves and the waitress promptly came to get our order. I absolutely loved how amazing our waitress was. 5/5 stars! We split a combo plate or ribs and BBQ with sides of Mac and cheese, potato salad, and hush puppies. Ribs: Awesome sauce. BBQ: insanely good. Sides: Pretty good. Hush puppies: Out of this world delicious. I hogged all the hush puppies because they were perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection. I also caved and got a slice of strawberry shortcake that was a very nice ending to the meal. We came in during the church rush but we still got amazing service in record time. Well this cafe is just outstanding food. We had the fried fish sandwich which was superb. Crispy hand made batter and slaw in addition to the delicious fish. Their specials are wonderful as well. Other diners said burgers and their Smoked Turkey special were excellent. Service is great. Servers are happy and clearly enjoying themselves which is a lot to say in these times. Great food. Great service. Great prices. We stopped for lunch and ordered the bbq sandwich and a hamburger. Tons of yummy bbq on a brioche bun with great tasting coleslaw. The french fries were good, too. Husband had the hamburger with onion rings. He said the burger was good and the onion rings were really good. Drink refills were plentiful and waitress was very friendly. I had no room to try the red velvet cake or strawberry cream cake they had as dessert specials. This place has quite a selection. I highly recommend the philly cheese steak burger. I have also heard from numerous people about how good the bbq is as well. In town visiting my mom and decided to try Perkz for dinner. This was one of the best dining experiences of the visit. This is not a fancy place but it was clean and comfortable. Service was exceptional and the food was delicious. I had the bbq chicken combo which came with a leg quarter and pulled pork with two sides. The chicken was the best bbq chicken that I've eaten and the rest of the meal (pork, beans, slaw) was deliciously prepared, as well. Mom had the fried fish and shrimp and was equally pleased. Portions were large and our server kept our glasses of iced tea full. Don't forget to have dessert here, they bake their own delicious cakes and they are to die for. This was my very first visit. The food was good. And I spoke with the owner who seemed very nice. The Phat Nachos were better than a similar dish at a local BBQ joint. So that is cool. I do with the pork had come with some sauce, if it was supposed to I wasn't offered any. My cousin said her shrimp and chicken was really good also. The fries were not salted, which kind of sucks for me, as fries are best salted as soon as they come out of the grease. Not once I get my to go order home. This Cafe is actually in my hometown so I've ate here a few times and they never disappoint, their daily specials is awesome for someone like me who is always having a hard time deciding on what to eat, I believe the last time I ate here I had the Lasagna with a salad, it was so delicious, if you want the best southern food in town this is the place you want, not only is the food AMAZING the staff are too, every time I've been here everyone is always smiling and in a good mood, I always have to eat on the run and this staff always makes sure I have everything I am going to need for my meal, if you are in the area or passing through to go to the mountains I highly recommend this restaurant read more

The food is very salty and either over cooked or under cooked. I had a cold fried chicken club with good waffle fries. Gary had a burger full of gristle and very tough. The waitress asked if we needed anything but never came back when we asked for ice. She was more concerned with gossiping about customers with the other servers in the kitchen window, which is open to the seating area. Has potential to be a good dive but the service is sub par. The waitress we had became very friendly as we were leaving, I am assuming she wanted a tip. My suggestion, go to Bud's dinner down the road. read more

The food was really good, I had a BBQ sandwich and onion rings. I had to pull meat off the sandwich first to make it fit in my mouth and my onion wings were as big as some blooming onions I've seen!
