Every visit feels special, like you are in on one of Providence's best-kept secrets! We started with a dirty vodka martini, garnished with blue cheese-stuffed olives. A classic cocktail & done perfectly. We kicked off dinner with a trio of appetizers that set the tone for the night. The snail salad featured tender sliced scungilli, marinated in fresh herbs & spices. It was beautifully prepared & flavorful, very close to being the best one I have ever eaten. The clams casino showcased local Rhode Island littlenecks stuffed with cracker crumbs, bacon, onions, peppers & parsley. Yum! The fried calamari was outstanding. Lightly breaded, crisp without being heavy, served with sautéed hot peppers in garlic butter that added just the right kick. We also ordered a cup of marinara for dunking. For the soup course, I chose pastina in chicken broth which was simple, nostalgic & warming on a cold winter night. Hubby went with the Soup du Jour: a jambalaya, which packed bold flavor & just the right amount of heat. For my entrée, I ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca: sautéed mushrooms and onion in a sherry wine sauce topped with melted mozzarella cheese & sliced prosciutto with a side of penne with vodka sauce. It was rich without being overwhelming & enough for two meals. Hubby opted for the seafood special: shrimp, clams, mussels & scallops in a spicy red sauce. So. Much. Seafood! He ordered a side of rabe. You simply cannot end a meal at the Aurora Club without one of their signature ice cream bonbons. We opted for the coffee flavor & it is the perfect sweet bite to a memorable meal! Exceptional food, great service, classic atmosphere & wonderful company. It is always a treat to be invited to dine at the Aurora Club! NOM NOM NOM #YUM

From the outside it doesn't look like 'much' but once you walk in you realize you're at a truly "exclusive" restaurant, as you're dining with the likes of some of RI's most elite & powerful individuals. Not that any of that matters- but it does to some. This restaurant embodies that old school Italian-American vibe & the Menu is pretty indicative of that. It's very traditional and in a sense a bit on the small side- but they have all the classics you need (chicken parmigiana, filet minion, gnocchi, etc). All entrees are served with soup/salad and pasta or potato/vegetable. I heard you need a dinner jacket to dine on first floor, not sure how true that is because I ate on the second floor & brought along my better half (my 3 yr old son) who was very welcome & they even had high chairs (bonus)! I started with a white sangria which was strong but delicious. My table ordered a bottle of really nice wine- so fancy! Apparently they have QUITE the wine list. I'm not a huge wine drinker so it didn't matter to me either way! All of the staff were beyond amazing. Everyone from the waitstaff to the bartender were extremely helpful. This is how service SHOULD BE. The waiter was GREAT- to everyone- especially my son. Even the maitre'd was amazing & helpful! I ordered the chicken Parmesan which was delicious. Most of the people in our party ordered the filet which was melt in your mouth amazing. Not sure how much the membership costs but it may be worth it just for the privacy and exclusivity. By 8:45 pm we were the only people left on the second floor of the restaurant!
