We had breakfast for lunch and as always very yummy. Staff was super friendly and restaurant was clean.

You can see the hair! I pulled it out of my mouth! This is a traumatic experience!

I ordered two meals and found long blond hairs in both of them. Totally disgusting. I will no longer buy from this place.

I had eggs, bacon, had browns, biscuits and strawberry crispers. The biscuits were not fresh but not too old either. Still tasted good. I loved the strawberry crispers for something sweet. Eggs snd bacon were cooked perfectly VMT only complaint is the hash browns were greasy. I was seated quickly and Lacey my waitress was very attentive. A pleasant experience for a chain restaurant.

Really fast service. Came in on thanksgiving day for lunch. There was a pretty good amount of people dining already. The waitress was very attentive. I haven't ate at Perkins for a long time. I noticed their menu had some healthy options. The great part is that it's something worth eating! I was very pleased with the tilapia and shrimp.

It was our last evening in Iowa for the Summer of 2013, and there was an opportunity for my Son to spend some time with his cousins. My Sister was just returning from a triathlon in Ceder Rapids, and suggested that we all meet up at this Perkin's in Ankeny. The backup choice was the Olive Garden next door. I rolled my eyes and suggested that we all meet and the house in Ames. However, my Mom flatly told me that she didn't want the hassle of cooking and hosting a lot of people in the House. The other consideration was that out of the 10 folks coming to Dinner, 3 were very hungry teenage boys. So some Des Moines "fine dining" option was out of the question. Large quantities of food at a reasonable price was the ticket. So Perkins it was and for what it is, I was impressed. We were seated promptly, the extended Family had a lot of room, the wait staff was attentive, the menu was extensive (including all day breakfast options), the food came out fast, and the quantities were generous and delicious. The total bill (including tax but before tip) for all 10 of us was about $100, which I thought was a heck of a deal. We also had plenty of time to relax and talk, which at "our ages" are real time moments to cherish.

Good food, reasonable price. See pics. Clean. Ok staff. Family friendly. Lot parking. Many choices. I got the grandmas hash and it was very good. Marcy'sDinerTantrumScale 5/5- NoScreamingKids.

Service was bad had to wait for the manager to seat us ! There was only ten tables being used! The manager was rude. It was the morning manager on May 31, 1923. I asked him for napkins he didn't bring them he, mom had to ask him for napkins. He brought her some and none for me the food I ordered the steak was so dried out. I couldn't hardly cut it with a knife. The grilled asparagus was so soft and mushy. I couldn't even cut it with a knife. All I could eat was the tips The manager started to be nice after we got our food because he was working on the tip up until then he was very rude. Our empty plate sat there through the appetizer, the salad, and he took it just before the food came, and he walked by us. I couldn't even tell you how manytimes he walked by us and left that stuff on the table my mom ordered the rice and the fish with the shrimp on top. The rice was very dry. The fish was overcooked in the asparagus, was the same as mine over cooked so much you couldn't hardly cut it, and all you can eat off of it was the tips again not only was the waiter was rude, but also it took us an hour to get our food. It wasn't busy. There was no rush hour. It was after lunch, and there was just no need for it to be that bad that long I won't be going here again. I give this place no stars at all.Ankeny Perkins this app made me give it sleazy 1st at or it would not post our review

I thought I was going to write another generic review about Perkins when stepping in today, but that changed after I took a look at their menu and had their food. Their menu was much different than the ones I've been to in Des Moines. They had offered some special items I have no seen at other places. I got the Tremendous Twelve platter and my fiance got the Philly Cheesesteak Stack. The quality of the food was slightly better than the ones in Des Moines which was a pleasant surprise. Their staff members were friendly like everywhere else which is no surprise. Great experience.!

Much better visit this time. Out waiter Yasser was awesome and upbeat! Super friendly! He checked on us off an on but was never over bearing. He was quick to bring everything and notify us of specials. One of the best servers we have had!! The amount of food we got was a feast. Ordered the bacon flip and hubby ordered the bacon omlet on their special bacon menu and both were delicious! Served hot and fresh. And I must say when I ordered crispy hash browns they definitely delivered!! The other night we ordered a Christmas gift basket and the guest services manager was super friendly and helpful! Overall wonderful experiences. We will be back!!

We found our seat and were immediately greeted by a new server Rylie she was super sweet and gave us time to go over the menu. She did let us know she was new which was good because if we had questions that she didn't know she was willing to find out. Our drinks came quickly and were cold. Our food was good and fresh. The waitress came back multiple times to check on us. I have read some rather mean reviews on this restaurant and I do have to say people should understand how long these servers and cooks have to work. Some of them are pulling 12 hour shifts. Be patient, it seems they are trying to fix some of the previous issues. Again I will reiterate our service was great. The ambiance was like a pub with clean tables and the restrooms were clean as well. We will be back.

Where do I begin…read more.. My family and I wanted to try something new for dinner and landed on Whiskey River. We got to choose our tables and saw the sign right away that we may have more than one server. First waitress ordered our drinks and took 15 MINUTES to get and one drink was a canned beverage! She seemed ditzy and confused on what drinks were even being ordered. Once we did get the drinks they were warm! Who wants to drink a warm draft or canned beer?? We get our warm drinks and she walked away without asking if we were ready to order. So now we are sitting there for 15 more minutes waiting to order our dinner and appetizers. Meanwhile, our waitress is making eye contact and doing miscellaneous things and isn't taking our order AND THEN SHE GOES HOME FOR THE NIGHT! Couldn't even be bothered to take our orders or ask how our drinks are before she leaves. A big table has been sitting beside us for a little bit, and I notice her point to their table and she told another server to take care of them so now they are getting their drinks fast and food ordered before us and we were there for 30 minutes already waiting for us to order. By this point, our drinks are empty and no one has noticed or talked to us. We are clearly wanting to order and other servers and people behind the bar are noticing us and looking at us. FINALLY a server for a booth talked to us and we decided to leave. Now she only stopped because we kept looking at her otherwise we would still be sitting there waiting till this day. A lot of young girl waitresses who only care about talking to each other instead of doing their jobs properly. So much for you will experience different waiters because we could've even have half of one...

I had no idea if there was meat choices (there isn't) or toppings or sides (there are sides like fries) I'm glad I asked for the menu, as I almost thought about the nachos. Which I would have not known about if I hadn't seen a menu. We did not appreciate the rudeness when she asked if we were ready to order and I replied how would we know we haven't seen a menu. Just for her to roll her eyes and come back and toss them on the table. That attitude made me not want to spend my money there and my tip absolutely reflected her poor behavior. She could have earned 20 from me alone out of our group, instead of what was left over from the change. I work in the service industry and I appreciate both good food and service and it also would have been nice if our checks were correct but I have learned to pick and chose my battles but that also helped contribute to her not super tip. To the taco loved the shell it's like fry bread and one taco is the entire basket you have been warned. Sadly it wasn't really warm my fries were not even close to warm and definitely floppy. Really the stinker of the show was the server, so don't expect much.

Almost every Bar-food type place I go to leaves me disappointed when I get burgers and this place was really good and reasonably priced. Wife got the steak melt and absolutely loved it as well. Both came out fast and fresh. Fries were very good as well. 2) Service was great, it almost looked understaffed because of how few people were running around but it definitely did not feel that way at all. Our server seemed to read our minds coming by exactly when we were ready to order or whatever else. Also friendly and personable without being overbearing at all. 3) Price was good, before tip around $50 for two people. 2 entrees, beer and soda, and a piece of cheesecake to top it off. I would usually almost think thats a little pricey for american food, but this was so delicious it was worth every penny. Somehow hadn't found this place despite being only 5 min from us but we will absolutely be making this a regular dinner spot when we feel too lazy to cook! Minor complaint, the table behind the "Seat yourself" stand def needs a fix cus that thing was wobbly as heck. Might've been an annoyance if I hadn't been so busy devouring my food to notice.

The Service: We were eventually seated at a booth (the one with no working TVs), and while we were quickly greeted by Jennifer--who was our waitress for the night--we ended up waiting most of the evening for her to come back. We did get waters and drinks while waiting for our friends to arrive. Once they showed up, it took a little while to get the rest of our order in, but it all worked out in the end. They were very busy that night--between the Indiana Fever game, graduations, and a band crowd. Jennifer was hustling, along with her husband and one other waitress, trying to cover the whole place. So, while I can't (and won't) complain about the effort, they clearly needed more help to reach that 5-star level. Same goes for the bar--it was overwhelmed and absolutely needed more than one bartender to handle that crowd. Just a note for management: the team was working hard, but they were outnumbered. The Food: The kitchen was on the ball. Our appetizer of Brussels sprouts was delicious--great flavors, perfectly cooked--and they hit the table just moments before our entrees did. I had the jalapeño burger with the ridiculously long name (you'll know it when you see it), and added the $4 onion rings. The burger was fantastic--well made, full of flavor. The onion rings, while not quite worth the $4 upcharge as a side, were the crispiest onion rings I've ever had. Really good. Kim's wrap, on the other hand, was underwhelming--$14 for a tortilla shell mostly filled with lettuce and not much flavor. Our friends seemed happy with their meals and later ordered a bread pudding to share. We all had a sample, and while it was decent, it was definitely missing a sauce or something to make it pop. The Value: Our bill--1 appetizer, 2 meals, and 4 drinks--came to over $100 plus tip. (Now that I'm writing this, I kind of wish I'd looked at the receipt more closely.) Still, that seems to be the going rate for this kind of night out in the greater Des Moines area these days. Pro Tip: Try coming during happy hour to stretch your dollars a bit further.
