Years ago this store was up the street from their current location, across from the DQ. I went in one day with a coupon and the owner pointed out that I was using it on the wrong day of the week. It was in quite small print but fair enough, though. He seemed annoyed, which was what offended me. I did not go back in that store or later to their new location in Trappe Shopping Center for years. I do care about where I shop and I do support local businesses. My spend on non-vet related dog supplies is about $1-2,000/year, varies on how many dogs I have. I have a dog who has allergy issues. Against my better judgment, I stopped in the new location to see if they might have a treat that was hypoallergenic in one way or another. I looked for a while and found nothing. I asked a helpful clerk who said no they did not. We discussed their dried sweet potato treats. I bought them thinking it would be worth a try. They were $18.99 for a bag of 8 oz. $38 a pound seemed quite high but I thought I'd try it, my dogs are important to my family. He liked them so I shopped on line and the manufacturer and Chewy sell the identical product and size for $6.99. I have owned businesses. I understand the overhead a storefront and staff entails. I have been here a few times since rescuing my Aussiedoodle puppy, Pickle, and every time I am beyond impressed! The employees always remember my dog by name and ask how she is doing. You can tell they genuinely care about you & your dog. Can't help but feel so welcome by everyone that works there, they are the sweetest group of people. It breaks my heart to have to write a 2 star review as the store is very adorable and my sweet schnauzer Matthew loved it in here up until our last visit. The owners seem very lovely however after my last encounter with the older women who mange this establishment I am left with a bad taste. First, I was greeted with one of the older women not respecting my personal space and just shoving her way past me. No manners what so ever! This happened more than once throughout my visit. This left my sweet pup very intimidated as he is very attached to me and can sense when I'm uncomfortable or upset. The management ruins the whole aura of the store which leaves me no choice but to take a long break or no longer give them my business, Maybe they are working too far past retirement and should take a vacation. I deserve to be treated with respect as a customer as well as my dog. read more

This store is the best! The ENTIRE staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. They always have excellent deals on products and coupons. But best of all, they have an awesome customer loyalty program. Most recently, I went in for a bag of hay for my bunny and received a free, large bag of rabbit food that I had earned. That was a $21 savings! The BEST pet supply store I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Not only do they sell anything you could possibly need for Fido and Mittens, but the staff is incredibly helpful. They will happily help you with selecting food, vitamins, training supplies, and toys. The store is clean and well stocked. Sue, Gordon and John are awesome - they know their stuff and always have a minute to field a question or two (or ten!). In fact, when my parents had trouble training their new dog, I sent them straight here for advice. The staff is super friendly and you can tell they love animals, Woody feels like a king when he walks in! For the service, I was willing to spend more to support a local store. today was my first time walking into this store and let me tell you... with the excitement it brought me just taking one step through the door.... imagine if i was a dog! i spent over an hour in here because i thought i was in a pet candy store it is the cleanest of all pet stores i have ever stepped foot in, with so many different options to choose from i wanted to buy almost everything. It was full of color too. This store showed beyond organization skill set from there team. they show pride in their store and make their customers feel first! This is one of the greatest pet supply stores around! They love pets here and everyone is so helpful. It's a tightly packed store but well organized and tidy. The staff are very knowledgeable and ready to help. Though they have a wide variety of foods, unfortunately our pup is allergic to near all brands but for one they sell at a major chain store. So we come here for treats and misc things. Make sure you come by for the holidays because they always have great events going on. This past Christmas they had bring your pet in to take pictures with "the Grinch" and it was adorable to see the variety of pets with their families coming in. They frequent have tent sales or bag stuffer sales too. If you need pet supplies I would stop here to meet the great friendly staff and get the best quality pet items. read more

I preface this review with that perhaps the woman working was having a rough day. (9am)I went in 2 weeks ago to buy a bag of dog food and the customer service was not very friendly. I usually have my dog food delivered automatically because of the convenience and so i don't have to carry a 30 lb bag. (Unfortunately I was leaving on vacation two days before my delivery was to be delivered, so I needed to find dog food in the meantime.) I came in with my dog in one hand. Upon paying and then not being able to find my name in their system we decided that I hadn't been there in at least six years. I explained why I ordered my food online so I didn't have to carry it and she got very snippy and when leaving not one of the three young men working there nor her even offered to carry the 30 lb bag to the car or hold the door for me. I'm all about shopping local at mom and pop stores but it would be nice to get great, Appreciative customer service in return. With that being said they are very well stocked store. And I will go and buy other dog items from there in the future. read more

Great selection of products, including raw and specialty brands! Everything is a little more expensive than you would find online or at a smaller store, but the variety is worth it. The only downside is one of the staff members, he may be an owner of the store- he is condescending and unpleasant. If you ask for something he doesn't agree with he sarcastically responds. Been a customer of this place for a number of years now. In fact, I've seen them move locations three times now, and their current location in the Trappe Shopping center is by far their best! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and you will often find the owner walking around. You can bring your dog into the store--just make sure they do their business outside first! What I really like about this place is the types of dog food they offer. You won't find the typical stuff that "big box" stores offer and the food here is of much higher quality. Yes, you will pay a little more, but as far as I'm concerned, my dog is worth it! They also offer all sorts of treats and toys and throughout the year they offer dog friendly events. They do have a rewards program on dog food and what's really nice is that they will keep track of it for you if you want. There are nicer ways to treat someone. If you treat potential customers this way, we won't be back...which is a shame. I'm pretty sure this place goes by Perk Valley Pet Eatery now. Regardless of what it's called I like going here a lot. The owners are always in there wandering around and talking to customers. Everyone who works here is outwardly helpful. My dogs eat a fairly uncommon brand of dog food and not only do they carry it but they have a rebate program as well.
