Our trip to Italy with Perillo Tours was fantastic! Being it was our first time in Italy, we were a little nervous but Perillo made everything so easy! We experienced the best that Venice, Padua, Florence, Siena and Rome had to offer! The best hotels in great locations, restaurants, transportation, site expertise and individual treatment when needed along with making new friends resulted in this tour being even better than we had hoped for. I would be remiss to not point out that our exceptional tour guide, Marco, was one of the highlights of the trip. We certainly would choose Perillo in the future for tours to other destinations but first we need to go back to Italy with them again! read more

Did the North Continental Tour, First they boast about offering 4 & 5 star Hotels, but the actual rooms are far from that, but they were clean. For instance, one hotel gave us a room that looked like it was a utility room, a zig zag shaped room in a far corner of the building or an adjoining building converted into a hotel room, took us 15 minutes to find & reach it! Also had 3 large air intake vents over the bed. Then Perillo dropped the ball when I called their number, they should have gotten us out of that room at any cost immediately, but we had to wait for the next day or we had to pay $100 extra! Many had no grab bars or safety features in the bathrooms & showers & no anti slip maps or appliques, this should be a must for a tour company that caters to Seniors! Sink wouldn't drain, I had to adjust the pop up so I wouldn't have to wait for someone to come up & fix it late at night! Other things like no way to make tea or loose mirrors! No handrails for staircases & got slammed by faulty elevator doors many times! Hotel porters dealing with undesirable looking people right outside in front of the hotel, may have been innocent but not a good look or good feeling, & in that same hotel a fellow Perillo traveler's ring went missing from her room! Maybe that's why Perillo is now using different Hotels? Recommended places to eat were not that great, found small local places that were better on our own. Felt rushed at times, hard to even take pictures at times. Offer optional tours but then because of minimums couldn't do some of them, not what I wanted to find out about after the fact! Also it seemed like the most important thing of the tour was about gratuities, constant reminders, made many of us feel uncomfortable & not because we're cheap, but because we're grown ups & know how to tip for good service! The local tour guides were excellent(especially Anna) & they commanded a nice tip on their own without any reminders! Also at times(many of us) felt like we were sorta on our own even when the tour director was present, like when crossing streets with traffic & telling us to use google maps! I would hate to think what would happen if someone on this tour didn't have a smartphone, which some Seniors don't, some just have basic cellphones! AIso, I did fill out a feedback page to Perillo & have yet to hear from them! read more

My wife and I just came back from Perillo's Marco Polo tour (Venice, Florence, Rome) on May 31, 2025, and I must say I am very disappointed. And why does my review matter? Because I actually took this same exact tour with my mother and 2 adult children back in 2006, and it was amazing from start to finish. Everything was perfect. I can't even tell you how many times I highly recommended it over the last 19 years, but after this trip, I would never recommend it again. Here's why: 1)The restaurants in Venice are now owned and being run by foreigners. I actually found myself looking for a real Italian resaturant in Venice. Crazy right? Also, the streets are lined with foreigners selling hats, tshirts, and cheap toys and bags. The charm of Venice is almost gone. 2)All the hot spots are now so crowded it's almost impossible to see and appreciate any of the beautiful statues, churches, and artwork there. 3)The hotels weren't nearly as nice as the first time we were there. As a matter of fact, our stay at the Perillo owned Rose Garden Palace in Rome was very uncomfortable because our air conditioning wasn't working, and they refused to repair it. 4)This tour used to include a visit to the Leaning Tower of Pisa but not anymore. As I mentioned, I used to highly recommend Perillo's Marco Polo tour, but now I would strongly discourage anyone from taking it. read more

My husband and I went with Perillo May 30 to June 10th this year. They had their own menus at the restaurants they took us. absolutely horrible. it was the same menu at each place. on checking the restaurants had ratings no higher than 3.75. hotel Luna had black mold growing in the tub tile. they also did not pick us up at the airport because our plane was late. I did write and send pictures of the mold. Two meals I could not eat . They did send me a check for $160.00 for the two meals and the taxi we had to take to the hotel. never again read more

Since Perillo tours is so upset that I'm leaving negative reviews because I never traveled with them let me clarify. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST I'VE EVER SEEN!!! Let me reiterate...the FIRST time we heard that there was a problem with this tour was 6/16. If they knew there was a possibility this tour would be cancelled we should have at least been alerted when they became aware. "Janice" said this much when we spoke to her she apologized "for dropping the ball". I could do a 20-page dissertation on this tour, so I will do the reader's digest version instead. Couple things up front, as I am very structure oriented, slightly difficult to please, but I am fair when doing reviews. My review may not be everyone is as all tastes differ, so here goes. Their pre-trip communication & customer service was top notch, no issues whatsoever, highly informative, and responsive to questions and or concerns. The Tour guide for the group (Flaminia) was genuinely nice, helpful, informative, & went out of her way to satisfy the concerns of everyone of diverse backgrounds, which is a monumental task to say the least. The bus driver (Matteo) is a magician, anyone who can drive that monster on those streets & highways with that traffic deserves a gold star. The Tour guides for each individual excursion & or walking tour except for the Rome Colosseum & surrounding areas were boring, spoke continuously for no reason other than to hear themselves talk and made a 1-hour tour into an exhausting 2.5 to 3 hours with filler nonsense. The 14 days North Classic is like the Evelyn wood speed reading tour of Italy. There is absolutely no down time, walking is exhausting as buses often cannot get near attractions & you have 1/2 mile walks to and from the start point. You have so much crammed into a short amount of time with so many stops that it makes I third to really enjoy a particular area that you like. You will spend exhausting hours on the bus with a limited "EMERGENCY BATHROOM" which means a stop at every "AUTOGRILL" in Italy so to speak. They have stock in that company. We actually could not manage all day do nothing 9-hour ride from Sorrento to Florence, so we took the high-speed train on our own in 3 hours and enjoyed almost a full day in Florence arriving ahead of the group. To their credit, our rooms were ready in advance, and we sent our luggage on the bus. The Cities for the most part is all worth seeing, but the crowds, tourist, and just overall volume of visitors is simply too much for me. You are on lines constantly, going through security only to be in more lines as everyone needs to see attractions. You will be with many strangers if you are a couple 38 strangers. You will either love your group or get along as you spend so much time you have no choice. The Hotels 5 different on this tour. 4 were serviceable while Hotel Rivoli (Florence 3 nights here, with all of its 300-year-old plus charm should simply be imploded. Nothing good to say terrible. Itinerary or lack thereof. You are presented one at orientation, but you better get used to it is only an outline. Times for everything change constantly, tours are switched, extra time added & what you will think will be an enjoyable day with time to spare turns into a marathon of exhaustion. What really kills this entire tour & review is the food. What appears to be a great deal with 9 included dinners is really what destroys this trip. You go to Italy to sample some of the finest cuisine, in the world. Then you get there and 9 of your 13 nights are mapped out. I will break it down quickly. The 4 hotel dinners were an absolute INSULT to anyone who has eaten out. Rushed, premade food, with little to no options on a set menu. The food was bland, tasteless & in some cases inedible. . The dinners out are also set menus with not pretty much zero options to change anything. The food is rushed, the wine provided is cheap, and you are better off at the local Olive Garden than eating at these tourist traps. The standout dinner in Florence was good & the winery dinner was 5 stars. Other than that, keep your meals. This last point is about their lack of ability to use common sense. On our last day we are stopping at Como for a lake tour & boat ride. We had just spent 3 hours in Lugano Como on the way back. It is DRIVING RAIN, 48 degrees, and nobody wants to do this side trip. We arrived in Como, the boat was cancelled, it is a .75 mile walk to the area in the pouring rain and 75 miles back. 3 out of 38 want to walk down to the shopping area. Instead of offering the other 35 to wait on the bus they force all 38 to trudge 1.5 miles in a torrential downpour, and then freeze for the next 90 minutes until the return walk back. The Final straw was 18 of the group who have morning flights. 12 of which are all same flight 9:45AM while 6 had 7:30AM Flights. 3 vans are hired, 6 per van. They had the audacity to make all 18 people leave at 4:30AM. When we discussed this, there were no changes, these are your options. It made NO SENSE, as I explained the airport check-in does not open till 6:45 for our flights and were told it will be open do not worry. We arrive at 5:10AM to a closed for the most part airport waiting till till yes 6:45AM for check in. No common sense whatsoever. Why make 12 people leave 2 hours early for no reason? No more space for this review you get the idea travel at your discretion read more

Not good. I took the Northern Italy trip last year and was pleased. I booked the Southern Italy trip this year and couldn't be more disappointed. The tour guide left information out of each stop. For instance, "Here's Mt Etna. Go get a snack." In the meantime, there is a gondola up the hill. A bus linking the service. She would disappear at stops. We were on our own. The hotel in Rome was not as impressive as last year. The walls are painted dark grey. The food was disappointing. Like an inexpensive wedding meal. Only the breakfast buffets were up to standard. In Pompei the daily tour guide left me at the museum. I do not recommend taking a tour with Perillo. read more

Came back from an 8 day trip in Italy- Rome, Florence and Venice. All booked thru Perillo Tours. Thank you, Laura @Perillo Tours for booking it all for us. Getting a family of 4 thru it all and like clockwork thru these cities in 8 days, is no easy job. Planes. Automobiles, and trains literally all booked for us. Got us on a 8am flight out of Venice. A taxi was waiting for us @ 515 am at our Venice hotel. Lara, our tour guide in Venice was amazing. She even made it interesting for my preteen (again not easy) and had my 10 year old entertained during a 3 hour "Best of Venice" private walking tour. Hey. This is a long established company. They have found great properties to stay at in Italy, Spain and Hawaii. But my trip was the trip from Hell, TO Hawaii. I'M 67, but there were people, about 25 total, in their late 80s. The guide did something to irritate the Polynesian bus driver, and after quietly warning him several times, being ignored, the driver slammed on brakes 5 times sending us flying. Twice, they changed the schedule, ruining plans of the people who had made, and paid for other excursions on free days. I just can't recommend them. read more

Why Perillo tours was a bad choice: 1) Perillo made airline reservations for my wife and myself months in advance, yet did not secure seats for us. Others on our tour, using the same airline, did not have this problem. The subsequent hassle this caused, almost had us canceling the trip before we started. 2) On June 2, we were scheduled for a walking tour of the colosseum and the Roman forum. However, June 2 is Italian National Day with celebrations throughout Rome. Making it impossible to have our scheduled tour. As a result, we did 2 walking tours the next day, which totaled 8 miles of walking. We wanted to take the Tivoli gardens tour, which was offered for an extra charge, but could not take the tour because of the National day celebrations. I guess Perillo didn't realize Italian National Day has been celebrated for over 75 years. 3) The first restaurant Perillo took us to was absolutely awful. With subsequent meals bordering between bad and inedible. Each restaurant had a "special " Perillo menu. Appetizers, usually 2, served to all and choice of 2 or 3 entrees with no deviation. If you grew up familiar with good Italian food, you will be appalled with what was offered. 4) On the various tours, the guides did not keep track of the clientele and we had to scurry around to find them. In conclusion, there were certainly some good times had. However,not enough of them provided by Perillo. RayS. read more

My husband and I went on the 13 day, four Hawaii Island trip. The accommodations and food were very good. Unfortunately, we had a lot of trouble with travel there and in between the islands. The brochure indicates that you have three days to travel days with several hours of leisure time. The travel days are used up with waiting hours in airports, traveling and killing time until 4 or 5 o'clock when we could check into our hotels. There were a lot of places that I thought we would stop it but it was more of a drive-by visit. Many of us would've preferred going to the hotel, getting a drink and walking around the grounds until we could check in with you riding a bus. The Parillo office would not assist me with airline reservations. And, I had to ask the tour Director several times to check on other items that he would forget to do. The bones for this trip was good but the execution was failing. Be sure you check out your tour guide for your trip before you go. read more

While I would highly recommend a trip to Italy, I would caution people against using Perillo Tours for their vacation plans. The prices of their packages are very high, and they cancel many of the sights/visits on their itinerary with no refund for those parts that they cancel. They promote the Colosseum as a highlight of their Rome package, but many groups were unable to go to there. They scheduled a trip to the Trevi Fountain when they knew the fountain would be shut down for cleaning. They promise an agent will meet you at the airport and drive you to the hotel, we were told when we arrived at the airport in Rome to get a taxi (we don't speak Italian). In all, four of the highlights they promised as part of our package - never happened. Hotels were just above average. Food was disappointing. Bait and switch with an Italian flair. read more

Just finished booking our first tour with Perillo Tours. We read reviews and felt comfortable moving forward with the company. Went online to make our deposit for our September 2024 tour and somehow our credit card was charged for the entire amount. The same thing happened to my sister and our friend. The rep I spoke with said that I must have put in the wrong amount. My sister was told the same thing by the rep she spoke with. Refunds are being processed but this first interaction doesn't give me great confidence in the company. We will be moving forward with the tour and I hope that this first interaction with the company is not characteristic of our future interactions. read more

My first trip with my husband to Italy was amazing with Perillo. When I booked my second trip with Perillo I thought the same was going to be in Spain, however I could have never been more disappointed and annoyed. There was no heads up about having to walk for miles at a time. I have had 2 knee surgery operations and my husband who has heart issues mixed with the heat could be very dangerous. This was an extreme inconvienance. I was also not given cold water as we were walking. When my daughter asked the guide Jeanette she was extremely rude to her when she asked, "How much further until we get to the hotel?" She replied, what you dont like to walk, as if to say we were being lazy. Mind you, my daughter checked on her Apple watch that we had been walking for approx 6 miles. She made us feel very bad and was always caught talking about us to other tour guides that joined the group for the day as guides. That was extremely un-professional, disrespectful, and very RUDE to say the least. We also did not have a written iterniary and she would often forget to tell us what to expect next. The food selections/options that were part of the package were disgusting and often felt hungry due to the lack of suitable food options. Upon checking in to our first hotel once landing from JFK NY to Spain non stop which was a little over 8 hours, the hotel in Madrid was not ready for us and we had to wait 6 hours to rest and shower. This was such a huge disappointment and should never have happened, that was not only for our family but 2 other families as well. My Perillo tour was great, because the group I was lucky enough to be with, made everyday enjoyable. I thought we spent too many days in Rome. I would have preferred more time on the Amalfi coast. Our tour guide was too talkative and pointed out a lot of insignificant details, such as how much so and so drank last night, or who did the most shopping. The local guides were good. I was referred to this tour group by a former airline pilot from Pan Am, as he explained to me that many of his passengers were planning to go on the Perillo Tours in Italy from the United States. I had a choice, as there are many travel companies! I took his advice and went to Italy on a tour in October 2018. I toured Northern Italy with Monica taking the lead, everyone loved her and she patiently explained everything and answered all of our questions. There were about 40 of us, and some of us have kept in touch! We were able to tour a parma ham company, a parmigiana cheese factory and a gelato factory. The beautiful sites of Italy were breathtaking, and I can not wait to return. I have nothing but good things to say about our tour director Paul H. He is truly one of a kind. He was so knowledgeable about the Hawaiian culture and I learned so much from him. He was always on time and very professional and personable with everyone. I felt like Paul really cared about s and always took the time to check in to see how everyone was doing at every turn. I also loved it when he sung to us and played the ukulele. My new favorite song is "Pearly Shells." I am 69 years old and just returned from a trip to Italy with my sister, It was amazing out guide Alessia was amazing took care of every detail, remembered who could eat what etc. The tour kept us busy seeing everything yet I also enjoyed out free time, my sister and I walked all around and ate at all different restaurants. Our bus driver I really should call him our guide #2 Enrico, got that bus through those small streets like he was driving a smart car instead of a huge very comfortable bus. We just got back from the 13 day North Italy Classic tour and there are not enough great words to say about our trip. From start to finish; every hotel, meal, excursion, guide and bus were excellent. We were treated like royalty - never touched our bags from the time we got on the bus the first morning until we left....what a god-send. Our guide, Marco, was beyond amazing - he was patient, kind and funny....not sure how he kept his composure since sometimes I am sure he felt as though he was herding cats - We had a total of 31 guests and a great group size! I went on a Perillo your a couple years ago with several of my family members to Rome. Perillo tours gives your first class accommodations, as well as meals and fun. We saw so many places of interest and also had free time to explore on our own. Our tour guide Kathleen was amazing! I would highly recommend using Perillo tours.
